Chp 4 Teaser below
âThere are some things I donât share. A lot of other projects were more important, so we dealt with those. However, with our recent troubles, I realized that I needed more action and less patience. I risk too much keeping quiet, it seems.â I looked over the balcony to the outside garden.
Lucius squinted, âBut what you told us was a lie, wasnât it?â
Canât believe thereâs someone who is so into Viper and the blog is fresh, alive and (I hope so?) being updated! Heâs my absolute love since 1st second. Really sad thereâs so few of fan content about him. Definitely staying and waiting for new postsssssss đ
Oh totally being updated! Glad to have u here đ
For his birthday, you booked a cabin in an unfamiliar neck of the woods for a couple of days. You come across a house of kids which reflect your childhood but a bit different. An unforgettable bond is formed but only lasts a moment before its gone.
A/N: Unlike "last year", this will be the full five star card instead of the chaptered story that went along with it.
Several distinct faces are on the bus this early in the morning. Despite Skyhaven being known for its unique cityscape, there were also ethereal forests to explore as well on smaller surrounding islands. Viper and I were standing to let the elderly and parents have places to sit on our way to our destination. A particularly sharp turn flung me into his hard chest. He wrapped his hand around my back.
âI thought Huntersss were supposed to have better balanccce.â He chuckled.
âYouâre literally magnetized to the bottom. Shut up.â I blew my minty fresh breath into his eyes.
Viper flinched but didnât let go even after I was able to get my balance back. The bus shimmied and slowed to a stop before opening its doors. We got our luggage out of the bottom and thanked the driver and his assistant.
My boyfriendâs golden eyes flashed in the sunlight, âWhat sort of birthday present did you organize for me all the way out here?â
I followed the map on my watch and came to the spot we were looking for. From the giant stool statue, we walked down a long gravel path. A lake was nearby with a pier. I noticed there was a firepit with several chairs between the main house and the water.
âYour birthday is in the middle of summer, but your favorite season is fall. So, I thought, why not visit a cabin and have it feel like an autumn get away?â My fingers typed the code into the door.
When the door swung open, we got to see the inside of a beautiful two story cabin filled with warm earth tones. Downstairs was the living room, a game room, a kitchen, and a dining room. The dining room was technically inside, but the walls could retract to make it outside, depending on the weather.
âShowers and stuff are upstairs. Did you wanna wash up while I start on lunch?â I offered since this was supposed to be his special experience.
Viper rubbed the inside of his piercings with his tongue as he processed things, âAplogiessss, butâŚyouâre going to cook right after such a long trip? Itâs not even noon yet! We should both take a nap and maybe take a shower together, too.â
âIâm not tired, though. You were yawning a lot on the way here. Iâll clean myself up after Iâm done cooking.â I opened the fridge. âThey stocked the fridge and pantry just like I requested, anyways. You can get things all set up in our room.â
âPausssssse.â Viper said. âNow, Mousey, I think--tell me if Iâm wrong--but you want me to try out the shower so I can tell you how to do it instead of figuring it out yourself, right?â
I didnât move, âWell, itâs not really possible for me to tell you that youâre wrongâŚbecause you arenât. However, I just dealt with a bunch of strangers on a bus where I had to stand up to be polite. If I try to figure out a new shower now, I will be very upset if it isnât easy.â
He moved closer and sandwiched my cheeks between his palms, âSay pleassssse.â
âPleasth.â I requested.
Viper smiled and rubbed my shoulders before walking towards the stairs that had a luggage lift nearby.
âIâd like an egg sandwich!â He requested with his back turned.
With full bellies and calmer tempers, both Viper and I took a look around the immediate area. In the backyard, there was a large screen for movies to be projected onto it with the projector in the window of a treehouse. I didnât have any plans set in stone other than for the last day we would be here. The 25th was his birthday, and I had already sent the decorations ahead of time.
About a half a mile away was another lux cabin. We saw three kids running around the yard playing with a bouncy ball. However, their movements seemed a bitâŚrobotic. Stiff for children.
We were polite and waved, but one of them called towards the house.
âGrandpa! We have visitors!â
The lone girl approached us, âWhat are your names?â
âIâm Viper and this is my girlfriend, Y/N.â He introduced us, âWe were just taking a walk and didnât want to be rude or creepy.â
âYouâre not creepy!â The third child said, âYour eyes are really cool and the stickers are so pointy and awesome!â
Both of us laughed.
âWhat if I told you that they werenât stickers?â I asked.
He reached out to touch Viperâs face.
âAdao, Vee, Pera, inside now!â The one we could only assume to be Grandpa came out.
This man seemed to be in his 40s or 50s, and he had a slight limp in his gait. I saw several concealed weapons on his person. However, I believed Vi and I had noticed the same things about these kids.
The man squinted, âWhy do I recognize ya?â
Viper stood up, âBoth of us used to work with FatherâŚProfessor Lucius. I remember about a year or so ago a field trip never returned. Several kids and scientists went missing. Iâm guessing you were part of that.â He grinned. âIâm glad.â
âYâall got free of him? How?â Grandpa seemed puzzled.
âLucius is no longer among the living. We made sure of that.â I said and pointed to our current abode. âWeâre staying in that cabin over there and decided to take a walk. Itâs his birthday week.â
I held Viperâs hand and squeezed it. He leaned closer to me and kissed my forehead.
âYou wonât tell EVER about us?â Grandpa looked from us to the house and back again.
All three were peeking out the window.
âI sssswear on my life. They will never know your whereaboutssss. At least, not from ussss.â Viper put a hand over his heart.
âI think itâs important for the children to grow as actual children. I genuinely hope they forget everything that happened to them. Do they still haveâŚâ I vaguely motioned to my head.
âNo. They were taken out last year which is why we were hard to find. Couldnât be tracked.â He said and then his phone alarm went off. âWell, itâs time for me to start on dinner. Itâs at 5 every day if you wanna stop by while youâre here.â
âGramps!â A younger woman called from the house. âIâm gonna get the water boiling, ok!â
The older man tensed, âIâd better get going. I donât trust her in the kitchen by herself for too long. Itâs why we had to leave our last place.â
After a bit of a chuckle, we parted ways. Viper and I went back to our own cabin to start our own meal. Itâd probably be poultry or something with a lot of protein.
The next day, I checked my list and remembered I had to make Viperâs birthday crown by hand. I had measured his head at home and made the base. Decorating it was the one aspect left unfinished when it came to his birthday party. The paper and paint pens were stored in the kidsâ room according to the listing.
However, I found my boyfriend just sitting on the slightly stained and brightly colored foam floor made of puzzle pieces. There were two cribs in there pushed against the same wall. Iâd assume toys would be in the closet. A kitchen set, a dollhouse, and an RC car were still out in the open. Viper absentmindedly played with the remote. The car went back and forth, pacing in his stead.
âWhatâs on your mind, Vi?â I asked as I knelt down behind him and leaned on his back.
âIâve never thought about it until recently. Not just yesterday, butâŚjust after being with you. Can we have children? Do you want children?â He looked up at me.
âI want a family. However it happens or whatever shape it takes, Iâll be happy about it.â I told him. âAs for the biological aspect, Iâm not sure. Iâm technically Mother of the Cosmos. Weâll figure it out in time. You know about my family and I was a part of yours for a bit. Do you really want a child right now?â
âNo. I guesssssss not. Iâve had my head in the cloudssss as of late. Daydreaming.â He moved swiftly so that my head fell into his lap.
I reached up to touch his face, âWell, you can always tell me about your dreams no matter what time period they take place in. You know that, right?â
âI do, Mousey. I do. I mussst admit that I do still get a bit shy when it comes to the sssofter parts of my honest feelingssss. Everytime they get overwhelming, I hear the chip about to force a Depress Mood Protocol.â He held my hand closer to his cheek and kissed my palm.
âReverse Protocol. Induce Word Vomit.â I said with a semi-robotic voice before giggling.
Even Viper finally cracked a smile and rolled on top of me, making me laugh more. The fading sunlight was perfect on his hair and skin. It reflected in his piercings as dust motes floated around him.
âWord Vomit denied. Replaced with smooches and tickling.â He then began to kiss my face all over and tickled my ribs.
I couldnât help but squeal and lightly kick at him as my lungs filled with laughter. Words couldnât even come out because of how it was hard to breathe in the best way. I tried to tickle him back, but it didnât work. Instead, I pulled Viper into me and began to kiss his neck. He stopped instantly.
âThatâs cheating to nibble on my neck like that, Mousey.â He said next to my ear.
I rolled over and switched our positions, âIâm an honorable woman. Cheating? ME? Unheard of.â
A knock on the door downstairs made us curious. We got up and went to see who it was. Rapid knocking made us rush. It was the three kids.
âGrandpa said we should hide with you. He had to stay behind. Someone found us.â Pera said, darting past us.
âCan you please keep us safe?â Adao asked.
âIâm so scared.â Vee hugged my legs.
I made eye contact with Viper and we knew weâd do everything to keep these kids safe. Weâd look for their grandpa later. For now, we hid them in our bedroom closet amongst our luggage.
âAre you sure theyâll fit in there?â I asked.
âDonât worry. Itâs something Iâve done before. Weâll keep it partially unzipped so they donât suffocate.â He explained this as if it were normal.
I blinked, âYouâve done this before?â
âWe all make misssstakes.â He said. âYou stay up here and pretend to be sleeping. That way we can make them avoid the room.â
âAlright.â I looked at the three suitcases with kids inside. âYou three just be quiet and try not to move, ok? Weâll let you out when the coast is clear.â
âOk.â
âAlright.â
âMmhm.â
The girl laid on the bed and slowed her breathing as she had done countless times before and during missions. Sneaking around was easy for her, and Ronnie was in the closet keeping an even closer eye on the kids. It wasnât long until a knock was on the door. Viper yawned and wiped his eyes as he answered the door.
âHello. Whoâsss you?â He asked and then shook his head. âSorry. I just wasss napping with my girlfriend. Who are you?â
Two well dressed folks with large shield glasses stood in front of him. If he hadnât faced literal death before, theyâd be quite scary with their cold demeanors and large frames.
âSorry to bother you. We just arrived, and, youâll never believe it. Our kids got excited and ran off, probably to explore and stuff. Have you possibly seen them?â The woman asked, sounding like a preppy mother.
So, this is the route they were going to take? A married couple.
The taller one added, âTheyâre each around the same age, about this high.â He put his hands about the same height as the terrified children upstairs.
âCanât say Iâve seen any kids. Like I said, I wassss sleeping.â Viper said and was about to yawn again when the two pushed past him.
âWeâre just gonna take a look. You know how kids are. They could be hiding.â The EVER agent playing âdadâ said.
âSlippery things. Couldâve snuck in during your precious nap time.â The âmotherâ had her head on a swivel.
Viper was trying so hard not to kill them with the kids right upstairs, âI didnât say. Hey, donât go up there. Sheâs still--â
All he could hear was a high pitched scream.
The door to the bedroom opened, and a man saw me in what he assumed was a state of undress getting up from the bed.
âUm, excuse me! Who are you? Get out!â I screamed with my best startled voice.
âOh, I am so sorry. I didnât--â
Quickly, the bedroom door shut as he tried to make excuses.
Viper chastised him in the hallway, âI told you we werenât prepared for guestssss! You have the audacity to burst into our house? What are your names?â
âWeâre just here to find our children.â A short woman said, trying to fix the situation.
You stood in the doorway with a robe over your loungewear, âIâm gonna call the authorities! Who just enters a house like that? You should be ashamed of yourselves!â
âWe donât know where your kids are. If they did run away, I wouldnât be ssssurprised with parents like you!â Viper hissed and slammed the door in their face.
I watched from the upstairs overhang. The two of us made eye contact, and I turned to make sure the curtains were drawn. They were shut. I then went to the door.
âStay in there a little longer. Youâre doing good. Sorry about the loud noises. We had to make sure they donât come back.â I apologized.
No reply, just a little zipper noise. Ronnie stuck her head out and assured me they were doing good. Fifteen minutes later, Viper and I did a quick sweep around the property. Nobody was there, just a few trail cameras that werenât there before.
âGive me your hand.â Viper said.
We Resonated and small snakes took down anything that felt a bit too new for an area like this. Afterwards, Viper went back, and I went to check on Grandpa. He was sitting on the porch.
All we did was give each other a slight nod before I walked near the main road and turned back. The other young woman joined me.
âWeâre sorry for making the kids surprise you like that. We didnât know what else to do. Itâs been a while since weâve relied on anybody else.â Her voice cracked.
âYou did the right thing. Theyâre safe. Viper and I hid them and destroyed anything EVER might have left behind.
Once we returned to the cabin, the kids were eating what would be considered a late dinner by their standards. It was already sunset. They thanked us for keeping them safe. When the sun was down, we walked with the kids and the woman back to their own cabin. The next morning, Viper and I took a walk to confirm our suspicions that their cabin was empty. Dying remnants of warmth and life were scattered here and there.
It seemed tomorrow would be a nice fall day. We didnât do anything extreme now that we were the only ones left now. We only met them yesterday, and they relied on us so much. I was glad we were able to help. I put my mind towards happier thoughts during our âboringâ day inside.
I was genuinely excited that everything was going to plan besides the surprise yesterday brought. We were going to camp outside during our last night here and sleep under the stars. I went into town alone to pick up his cake while Viper decided to check out the board games. Heâd have one for us to play when I got back.
While in town, I went over my checklist. Cake. Check. Ice cream. Check. Extra large tent that could set up by itself. Double check. Oh, right! The birthday hat! I wanted to add glitter to it, but the cabin didnât have glitter nor glue that hadnât dried up inside the bottle. I stopped by a shop to get those separately along with a version where they were together.
Hmmm, maybe I should get a souvenir. I thought to myself as I passed by those glow in the dark ceiling stickers that were trendy when we were kids. Maybe he never got to experience such a thing due to his circumstances. Yep! Two packs were added to my hand cart and bought at the checkout minutes later.
Once outside, I put all the extra goodies in my bag while holding the cake steady. I was a bit worried it would melt or something before I could get it back to the cabin. However, I took a peak before I put it in the fridge and everything was fine.
âMousey, are you back?â Viper called from upstairs.
âYeah. Did you pick a game for us to play?â I asked and followed where the voice came from.
For a moment, I thought he saw his special gift. However, when I opened the door, he wasnât there.
Viper called out, âNext room!â
I set the glitter, glue, and glitter glue in the room with the birthday crowns and then saw my boyfriend setting up a plastic play area with primary colored circles on it. This was bigger than a board game.
âWhatâs all this?â I asked.
âI ssssaw this game on TV when I wass younger. Iâve never played it before, sssso I hoped we could play it together.â His eyes seemed so soft as he hesitated slightly to ask for what he wanted.
I grinned, âSounds great! Iâm gonna change and we can get started!â
Viper beamed, his eyes crinkling while his cheeks raised into the biggest smile! I put on slightly tighter clothes and the two of us played. In two-player mode, an early version of OTTO called BOT told us which body part to move to which color. The two of us were really competitive and worked up a bit of a sweat as we became entangled with each other. It wasnât until I had to place my left hand on blue did I realize that I could either win it all or lose on purpose because no matter what Viper did next, itâd be impossible.
You have chosen to lose the game of totally not Twister against Viper even though you could win it all. The outcome might not be what you expected it to be.
I didnât want Viper to lose during his birthday week, so I pretended to slip and made him fall on top of me. We burst into giggles. He then looked me in the eyes and kissed my cheek.
âThank you for lossssing.â He grinned and then stood before helping me up. âI was fading fassst.â
He yawned and I said Iâd clean up the game after he went to bed. Viper agreed and then we decided to make something simple for dinner. We had a bit of vegetable stew left from yesterdayâs lunch. Then he cleaned his own dish before washing himself and going to bed before me.
Thatâs when I got to work.
Cleaning up the game was easy enough. Then I added the finishing sparkling touches to the hats. Those needed time to dry, so it was time to decorate the rest of the cabin. Pink and green streamers were tossed around artfully and quietly so as not to wake the sleeping serpent. Candles and the lighter were put onto the counter for easy access tomorrow.
I placed his gifts around the couch and took a picture of everything for memoryâs sake. After setting my alarm and silencing his, I finally got some sleep.
The next morning was so bright and fun! I made his favorite meal and coffee for brunch since it was nearly noon. We ate it in bed before I gave him his first gift. It was his birthday outfit! He ran his hand along the cream colored lace.
âThissss is beautiful, Y/N!â Viper looked at it with intrigue. âAre you sure this is for me?â
âOf course it is! You put this on, and Iâll go put these downstairs and change too. Take your time.â I kissed his forehead before hopping off the bed, grabbing the tray, and heading to the kitchen.
I quickly washed the dishes before putting on my pink and cream maxi skirt. It had a floral base layered with asymmetrical ivory lace. Atop that was pink crochet on the left hip and similar floral printed coils. It was secured with a long pink rope with wooden colorful beads. I paired it with a puff sleeve crop top a similar color of off-white and layered necklaces and a bejeweled bodychain.
It felt a bit incomplete without the scalloped pink arm warmers with lace around my hands, so those were slipped on with ease. I had on some anklets as well. My shoes were a dark brown leather, close-toed but with a cutout flower on the top accompanied with contrast stitching.
I put the candles in the cake and waited for his footsteps on the stairs before lighting them.
âAm I to have a ssssilent grand etrancccee?â Viper called out.
I began to sing, âHappy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday, dear Viper. Happy birthday to you!â as he made his way down the steps.
He was on ground level with me, his golden eyes made brighter by flame. I couldnât believe how amazing he looked in the outfit I had picked out for him. The top part was a foundation of a button sleeve white and gray pinstriped button up. Over that was a black leather vest that had a flat hem on one side and a pointed hem on the other. It was double breasted as well. A blue tie with a plaid pattern was tied loosely around his neck.
As for the pants, they were the pièce de rĂŠsistance of the outfit. The base was a pair of flare denim pants with most of the left legâs front replaced with thick cream lace that became crochet when it went around the back and connected to the other hip. White lace was on the other leg but layered on top and not replacing a cutout. White flower appliques were placed to look random, but they were anything but.
The left hip also had strips of denim ribbon. It was supposed to be worn with a pair of white sneakers when we went out.
âMake a wish and blow out the candles!â I exclaimed and held out the cake to him.
Viper closed his eyes for a moment and then opened one to watch me watching his face. He chuckled, âI wish every day in the future feels just as magical as this moment right now.â
He blew out the flames and a thundercrack nearly made me drop the cake!
âNoooo!â I cried. âIt wasnât supposed to rain today! Your final gift was outside.â
âWere you going to show it to me now?â Viper asked.
I shook my head and set the cake on the counter, âNo. Not now. I mean I guess we have plenty of time before that reveal but still.â I sighed.
Viper held me around the waist from behind, âThen weâll just posssstpone the final gift by a few hourssss. We donât have to be out of here until tomorrow afternoon anyways, Sunshine.â
âOkaayyy. You have other gifts to enjoy, too!â I couldnât believe I was making him cheer me up on his birthday.
A few gifts from the zodiac members he had found were amongst my own treats and trinkets. Even after enjoying ourselves, the cake, the ice cream, and each other, the rain hadnât stopped. I knew he saw me glancing at the windows a few too many times. It was time to pivot as sunset was approaching.
âDonât worry about your lasssst gift, ok, Y/N?â Viper tried to assure me. âEverything youâve done already makessss today more than perfect in my eyes.â
âYeah, I know. Ah, right. Before your finale gift, I have one more that needs to be put into its box. It had to dry overnight.â I smiled. âKeep yourself entertained for a bit, ok? Pick out a movie or two.â
âSoundsss like a plan.â He squeezed my hand as I went upstairs.
I had almost forgotten about the stars, the fake ones that could glow in the dark! With a bit of quick thinking, I threw together a makeshift tent and set up my laptop to use instead of using the movie screen downstairs. I stuck the stars on the sheets before putting them over the crib and toybox. Then I hid the hat that I had made behind my back.
âSurprise!â I showed Viper the dark hat that matched his outfit and placed it on his head. âIt looks even better when youâre wearing it.â
âRight back at ya.â He said and placed a pink one on my head. âI ssssaw you were making one for me, and I wanted to make one for you, too! Iâve alwaysss thought a crown would suit you.â
I couldnât help but feel the heat rise in my cheeks, âThanks, babe, but itâs your birthday. I donât--â I began to reach for the paper crown.
âWell, I am the birthday princccce and you are my princessss. I think itâs only right if we both wear them.â Viper stopped my hand from taking it off.
âAlright, whatever you say, my prince. Did his highness choose what movies he wanted to watch?â I asked, taking a final glance outside.
Still raining.
He sent me the links, and then we went upstairs. I covered his eyes before we walked into the door and then uncovered with fanfare! The makeshift pillowfort wasnât as sleek and cool as the one I had rented for this trip, but it would be cozy.
âWe were supposed to watch movies under the stars outside and sleep in a luxury tent. However, I think this will do just perfectly as a backup.â I lifted up one flap. âBirthday prince first.â
Viper and I crawled in. The false sky was filled with plastic neon green stars. After watching the movies, we just stared up at them while laying on our backs.Â
âY/N. Ever the clever little Mousey, arenât you?â He held my hand and looked at me. âI know itâsssss not as fantastical as you planned thingssss out to be, but I think I like thisss version more. I missed out on a lot as a kid, even working for the professor. I never really got to experience childhood like you did. These last few dayssss along with all the other timesss you let me be a bit immature really. Itâs healing something I thought would always stay broken.â
I looked at him and smiled, âYou mean that? I just wanted things to be perfect for one day. For you. Itâs the least you deserve.â
âYou know Iâd never be able to lie to you.â Viper said and rolled over to cup my cheek with the other hand before kissing me. âThis birthday may be a bit flawed and off script, but itâs perfect.â
He kissed me again. Then I laid in his arms with my hand on his chest. We listened to the rain and fell asleep in the blanket fort. Maybe his birthday wish was already coming true.
You've chosen to tell Viper 'Get gud' despite this trip being his birthday. Just because it's part of his celebration, doesn't mean you can't also be a winner.
I put my foot firmly on the blue circle. Viper then is told to put his right hand on yellow. He couldnât. His legs and arms were not able to maneuver around me in order to do it within 30 seconds, and I was declared the winner!
Instead of falling, Viper forced himself to stand up and folded his arms, âHumph! You turn me into a jessster, a fool on my own birthday celebration vacation?â
I giggle and stand beside him, âJust a little bit. Itâs not your birthday for another few hours. Speaking ofâŚâ
We both yawned, but I said Iâd clean up the game after he went to bed. Viper agreed and then we decided to make something simple for dinner. We had a bit of vegetable stew left from yesterdayâs lunch. Then he cleaned his own dish before washing himself and going to bed before me.

He blew out the flames and then used his finger to put the icing on my nose.
âHey!â I exclaimed.
âThatâs what you get for last night.â Viper chuckled with a hiss and then used his forked tongue to lick it off my nose. âAt leassst it tastesss yummy.â
We went to the couch, and I recorded him opening his gifts. Some were from me, others from the friends and zodiac members he found during his newfound freedom. The two of us enjoyed snacks and homemade pizza while learning and using each of his presents. Then it was time for the pièce de rÊsistance!
I got Viper to stand up after putting a blindfold over his eyes, âTrust me.â I held his hand.
He smiled, âI alwaysss will.â
I led him outside and took his blindfold off. The luxury tent built itself before our very eyes! The opening was aimed at the large movie screen that we saw when we first got here. We got into the nest of blankets and watched two of his favorite movies and then we looked up at the stars since the top of the tent was clear.
âI didnât know it looked like this.â I admitted with a laugh. âPerhaps I shouldâve done a practice run with the tent. It couldâve gone really badly.â
âIâm glad it went off without a hitch.â He held my hand and pointed to a shape in the sky. âWhen I was younger, before Luciusssss, I remember making up constellations when I had the chance to see the night sky. Like when I tried to run away. It wassssnât until I got some formal education that I learned the real names of a lot of thingsss.â
I looked at him, âOh, like what?â
âOrianâs Belt. I called that one Viperâs True Form. I added those two stars there to make it look like a snakeâs eyes.â He said, and I followed his guidance.
âLittle Viper sounds adorable! Iâm glad you could find some escape even during awful times.â I pulled him closer and put my arms on his shoulders.
He looked me in the eyes, âAs beautiful as the stars are, I canât hold them like I can you. Youâre just as hot, bright, and you actually make my wishes come true.â
And then he pulled me in close and placed a small kiss on my lips. The slight pressure from his piercings a reminder that this was real. He was here in front of me, and we loved each other very much. There was no guessing. No what ifs. No years of hesitating or any of that. Just us, another year, and the stars above witnessing it all.
Now that the children are safe and the birthday party is over, you and Viper do what you can to check out on time and return to normal life again.
We woke up on our last day and took things easy. Packing didnât take very long, and weâd be getting a van to pick us up instead of taking the bus due to all the extra luggage we had. The gifts had been sent ahead but now we had to take them with us to the main land of Skyhaven. The tent was broken down and put back into its box to be picked up at a later date since it was a rental.
As the both of us checked all the rooms to make sure there was nothing left behind other than memories and glitter, Ronnie relaxed on Viperâs shoulders. She was sleeping. A lot of the rooms we didnât even touch while others were filled with lovely memories and deep talks. Promises for a better tomorrow. Together. Then we met downstairs and began the long walk up the driveway.
âThe agents and their targets are nowhere to be found.â Viper said as he looked towards Grandpaâs cabin. âI wass kind of hoping to share some slices of birthday cake with them.â
I held his hand, âMaybe next year weâll have more attendees.â
âThat would be fun! Letâs hope the bonds weâve made last until then.â He squeezed and then began rolling the luggage again.
Suddenly, he stopped and gazed at the lake, âI wanna do one last thing before we go.â
Viper took my hand and pulled me to the waterâs edge. He handed me a round and smooth rock while keeping one for himself.
âMay these rocks remember us even if we never see them again.â He then skipped his along the waterâs surface.
I followed suit and was surprised at how many bounces I got.
Viper then looked at me, âSix.â
âHmm?â
âWeâll come back here in six years and do this again. Yours skipped four times and mine skipped twice.â He tried to explain.
I had never heard such a link in my life, but I nodded, âSix years. Itâs a date.â
Thank you for reading, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY VIPER!!!

Details:
Viper is a recurring character throughout the "Homecoming Wings" section of the Main Story. When he introduces himself to the protagonist, he refers to himself as "Caleb'sss friend" and that she can call him "Viper". Ironically, whenever Caleb and Viper interact, they're always antagonizing each other in some way. From what we've seen, Viper favors verbal attacks and/or insults while Caleb relies on a combination of Evol and physical strength.
To Viper, Caleb's constant need to protect the protagonist is obsessive and overprotective (hence the nickname "Mr. Overprotective"). In contrast, Viper seems to find entertainment by merely toying with the protagonist since the Professor had apparently said it wasn't "time to go after her yet". He seems offended by the idea that the protagonist is the "perfect vessel", saying she "doesn't even look as good as us unfinished products".
When Viper appears at Mia's funeral, he infers that Kevi was rescued by the Fleet because "he hasss sssomething more valuable" than the Aether Core fragment/Spatium Core. When she asks if what happened to Kevi was caused by his ability to use an Aether Core, Viper tells her not to be "too sssupicious". But since he says "aeeing her manipulated like this" was annoying, he ultimately helps her figure out what had been done to Kevi.
Physical Characteristics:
Other than his greenish-gray hair (said to be loosely tied), many of Viper's physical characteristics are either distinctly snake-like/snake-themed or suggest he is technologically enhanced in some way. I've included lists of these traits below.
Though it has yet to be clarified if he is an android/humanoid robot or a cyborg/cybernetically enhanced organism, various Main Story scenes suggest that Viper is able to feel physical pain.
Snake-like/Snake-themed Characteristics:
Gray eyes with white slit pupils.
A forked tongue that darts in and out of his mouth
His pronunciation of "s" is consistently prolonged, reminiscent of a snake's hiss
In combat, the protagonist describes him as "tough and quick" adversary who moves "like a grayish-green serpent"
In his picture (right), he is depicted as having snake bite piercings (top left, bottom left).
Technological Enhancement Characteristics:
(When pistol whipped) Wires, metal bits, and a bunch of tiny bolts burst out of his head, littering the ground in scattered electrical equipment.
(When pistol whipped) Part of his ear broke, rendering him unable to hear.
(When pistol whipped) The broken part of his ear is described as a "short-circuiting implant". After discarding it, he says he'd trade in the Aether Core for "an ear with some nice basss".
He has the ability to change his fingers into silver blades
When Caleb shoots stone shards at him, they pierce through half of Viper's face. When Caleb slams him into the ground, it destroys the other half of his face
Caleb is said to have crushed Viper's "white prosthetic eye".
At the cemetery, his face is described as being covered in "cracks and blotches"
After providing the protagonist with Kevi's new address, he "sways with the wind" and then instantly "vanishes like mist".
When Caleb twists his head around 180 degrees, Viper begs him to "at leassst put my head back in place before you go?!"
Notable Quotes:
When Kevi is being driven away from the cemetery, Viper says:
"What a lucky kid, sssaved from the fate of being a normal perssson. It'sss better to dance to the tune of the ssstrong than live a plain life. A pawn isss ssstill a pawn. But they have a chance to sssurvive to the end of a large chess game".
In "Crossroads", he recounts their recent accomplishments:
"First, we went ahead and destroyed those abandoned Flux Nexuses. Then we paid the N109 Zone and visit to get info on Onychinus. Our Skyhaven gig is almost over. Where's our next stop? Tch, we practically spoiled Ever and those old people in the Fleet. Were like their personal hitmen."
Lily of the Valley on collar. Did my best to make a unique outfit with the draped and ruffled style of the other LIs. Also wanted to keep the leather motif.
