As well as I can keep track, these are the fonts I've used for headers and titles and the like. I get most of them from DaFont or Canva's options. Unlisted fonts are ones I could not remember nor find the name of.

These tests feel more like tricks especially with Father Lucius at the helm. I look for him but end up in a conversation with Caleb as he tries to talk about his feelings. Sometimes, I wished I felt the same. Sometimes. To give us both a reprieve from our hearts, I send him on a mission.
CW/TW: Religious figure, slightly OOC Caleb, jail scene
I had spent several moments each day with Viper. He had chosen his party of 6 to head out to the castle and do what Caleb’s party couldn’t. I had my own plans, too. Test one person at a time. First up…
Purple eyes looked at me on the throne. An older member of our rebellion wanted to leave. To go back.
“I’m only a citizen. There is nothing special about me here. I will not speak of this place once it is out of view.” Her voice was heavy with age.
“No.” I said. “You may join the children, or you can die before you reach the gate. Those are the only ways you leave here. Why leave at all?”
“Do you misssss being special, Former Conssssort Jezra?” Viper asked.
She lowered her head, “Yes. I am tired of trying to survive our day to day. I miss luxury. I miss relaxing. I miss being rich! I became a consort to escape…this!” she spat out the last word like a sour grape.
“Then. How do you wish to leave?” I looked at Caleb and then her.
He made the room feel heavier. Jezra was forced to kneel as he got closer to the woman who might have been my mother. Might have been my aunt. All I knew was that my father slept with her from time to time and she looked like my grandmother.
“In a body bag or on a boat?” I asked the question as if it wasn’t breaking my heart to do so.
The only things that gave me away were that I was looking at my hand which gripped my throne and not her. I didn’t want to see her hurt. I didn’t want to threaten her like this, but this was always how these conversations went. They had lessened throughout the decade. However, there were always those who wanted to leave. If they made it past the tree bridge, I let them go. Only two people ever made it that far alive.
I then stood and walked down to her, “To make myself clear, I’d rather you be on the boat. At the same time, Miss Jezra, do you think he’ll forgive you if you do somehow make it? All you have to do is lie to his face, endure the torture methods because he wants to know my weaknesses, and then you’ll be his pet again.”
My hand reached out, “What is your answer?”
“Missss Jezra will be on the upcoming boat with Kevi and Mia.” Viper said after the last complaint of the day had been heard, and the sun went down.
“I’m glad. We both know she helped out of jealousy. What did she think…” I felt his chest against my back. “Are there some people who simply long to be caged?”
He hugged me tightly, “Yessss, there are. It’sssss all about perspective, though. Thisss manor is a cage to you in ssssomewaysss, yesss?”
I nodded.
“But it’sss more bearable with people you care about, isn’t it?” He held me around my shoulders and waist.
“Yes…especially with you.” I said and leaned into him. “I want to tell everyone. Once we find the mole. I’ll tell our Neon Necropolis about us…”
Viper blinked, “I’d really like that.”
“So, are you comin’ clean?” Aislinn asked from the door. “I brought your weekly portion of vegetables and wanted to say hi. Didn’t know you were busy with your advisor.”
I looked at her, “Oh no, my secret is open.” and chuckled.
She grinned, “As open as you are, I think there are a few folks ya need to tell upfront.”
Viper held my hand, “I have to agree, Y/N. I’d like our most trusssssted people to know about uss even before everyone elsssse.”
“Okay.” I said even as anxiety crawled up my spine. “Tonight.”
I made eye contact with both him and Aislinn. Both nodded firmly. Not even an hour later, most of the Neon Necropolis was quiet and asleep. Caleb, Simone, Viper, Father Lucius, Aislinn, and I were in the stables. Mechanical horses were charging in their stalls. They almost looked like the real thing other than unnatural patterns and the shape of their eyes when awake.
“Why do you have us all out here so late?” Simone asked, her lisp more prominent now that she was tired.
Father Lucius looked at me, “I was in the middle of writing a new sermon. You know this is the time I have for that.”
“I know. I know, and this will be quick. However, I’ve…we’ve decided to be direct about this.” I looked at Viper and held his hand.
He looked at me softly, “Confirm your susssspicionsss, so to sssay.”
I looked each of them in the eyes, “Viper and I are dating. We…have been interested in each other for a long time.” There were no words that could explain my feelings towards the green-haired rebel except for, “I love him.”
“And I love her.” He kissed my lips.
I felt so safe in this moment, “And, yes, I know his position gives him a lot of sway towards my rule, but he’s never led me astray. I am not blindly or deafly following his every suggestion. Necropolis is bigger than any of us. I promise that I have always and will continue to always listen to all sides when deciding the path for our future.”
“I wasss in love firssst. She did not have feelingssss of romancccce towardsss me before I became her advissssor. It’s more about trussst.” Viper explained.
Father Lucius had a look of contemplation, “I must admit that I had a feeling this was the truth of your relationship.”
Simone added, “I’m guessing you don’t want anybody outside of us to know.”
Both Viper and I nodded in agreement.
He spoke, “Oncccce we find the mole, then we’ll tell everyone. I know it’s dangerousssss for us to tell you all at the ssssame time, but we had to.”
“And whoever is the mole, just don’t. For this one thing, keep silent.” I closed my eyes. “I beg of you.”
“As much as I’d love to just believe your word, my princess, I believe some tests are in order.” Simone said.
I nodded, “Alright. Do what you must.”
The tests would be surprises. That way I couldn’t fortify myself against them. Viper wasn’t feeling very good today, so he stayed in while I went around to check in at the wall. Then I wanted to make sure the siblings were ok. I didn’t want them to get too attached to me, and Viper seemed to agree. He had been texting me all day.
He then asked me if Sir Houndfell was still in his hut. The man…wasn’t the best morally. A coward. Peeping Tom and a glutton for punishment. All we could do was confine him to his quarters and make sure no holes suddenly showed up. He’d been behaving so far, as jumpy as he was.
> Give him a scare for me. A small one.
Why? <
> Why not?
> Remember what he’s done. I doubt anyone will get upset.
Fine. But don’t ask me again. I don’t want him to be paranoid on top of everything else. <
> <3
I resonated with a tree that had a few branches above his home. It dropped a few nuts on top of his roof. I heard him jump from outside. Perhaps he ran into something due to being startled. I couldn’t help but giggle. I really didn’t like that guy.
Then the kids ran past me. I smiled at them and wished they could stay. However, this was too close to my dad. Too close to a war. It was no place for children. I quickened my steps to catch up with them. We went to a hill. The three of us and two Evolver maids who used to work for me in the castle and wanted to continue their work here.
Kevi looked up at me, “Princess, do you get snow here?”
“That we do.”
“That’s so cool!” Mia said. “And do you go sledding?”
I smiled, “Yep. This hill is a bit too fast, but it’s still fun for those who like being speedy.”
Another text followed by a call. I excused myself.
“Hey, are you feeling better?” I asked.
Viper replied, “Yesss, where are you? I’ll meet you there once I get ready.”
“I’m at the hill. Near the treeline.” I replied. “I’m with Kevi and Mia. Also their two attendants.”
“You should push one of them down the hill.”
I furrowed my brows, “You’re on one today, aren’t you? Maybe you should just stay home. I’m not pushing anybody. Least of all the kids.”
“Push ssssomebody, or…we’re done.” He said.
My breath caught in my throat, “Then, I guess we’re done.” This didn’t sound like something he’d say, though. He was no bully to the innocent.
A different voice came over the phone, “Apologies, Princess. It was a trick.”
“Father, what have you done to him?” I lowered my voice, suppressing the panic that rose like bile in my throat.
“Nothing untoward, I assure you. He’s alive and well. We just needed him as part of our first test for you. You’ve passed with flying colors.” He said. “We shall see you when you return.”
When I got back to the main castle, I was on the hunt for Father. He was going to explain himself. What kind of test was that? Instead, I found Caleb. He caught my hand.
“Do you have a moment for an old friend?” He asked.
I sighed, “Yeah. What’s up?”
“Let’s go somewhere private. I don’t wanna…” Pink rose in his cheeks.
“Oh, um. Ok. Yeah.” I said and the two of us made our way to a large-ish storage room with broken windows. “What…are you ok?”
“Yeah. Well, not. Not really.” Caleb paced back and forth. “I thought. I thought you’d choose me. Over Viper. I thought that we had something special. We grew up together. I know your favorite everything. You know mine. I…I just don’t understand why you’d pick him! Is it because I’m always away? The botched mission?”
“Caleb. Caleb! It has nothing to do with the missions. It has nothing to do with our pasts. But, I’d be lying if I said that it wasn’t because you’re gone a lot. I am already unsure if we, as a rebel group, will survive the night. Why would I fall in love with someone who puts themselves on the front line? We have two completely different ways working towards the same goal. Viper is here. He cares about me just as much and has known me for less time.” I held my elbows. “And he made it known.”
He held my shoulder, “I could stay.”
I shook my head, “Do you want to?”
“Do you want me to?” Caleb asked.
“You know I’m not going to decide that for you.” I met his deep purple gaze.
His hand slid off, and I caught it. He looked at me.
“You’re not the staying type. You’ve got battle in your blood. I like how we are right now. You’re my teammate. One of the two people I rely on the most, with everything…almost everything.” I corrected myself.
“Just not your love.” His voice was gentle.
I shook my head, “Not the romantic type, no.”
Caleb nodded, “Ok.”
“Really?” I tilted my head.
He couldn’t help but smile, “Yeah. It’s ok. I’m a bit heartbroken, but I understand. You can still trust me with anything, pips.” He lightly punched my arm.
“I know that, which is why I have a secret mission for you. Do you wanna take it? Help clear your mind a bit?” I asked.
He knelt before me, my forever knight, “Of course, Princess.” and he kissed my hand.
“And so, my most trusted circle, Caleb will be heading out with a specialized crew to find another route on the water. We might have a new supply source if we can find safe passage.” I lied. For the first time since becoming my own princess, I lied to the people I cared for the most. “This will be his longest trip away, and he will leave before sunrise. Say your farewells until then.”
The truth was, he was going to get back into my father’s good graces. He would be the fake mole and probably find out who the real one was. He’d be gone over the winter and hopefully return next spring. The former consort by his side.
I told him my plan after his confession to me. All I could do was trust him. Part of my fate always rested in his hands, but now the whole kingdom…my forces, the lives of my people, were there too.
“Anything you wanna say before I go?” He asked as the sunrise threatened to come up.
Everyone was drunk or near drunk. Saying goodbye was always a small party. A few extra rations used up since early days of travel were easy. The two of us lingered in the doorway while his other four troops quickly darted through the field to get under the cover of trees.
“You’re not allowed to die, and you’re not allowed to stay. I will see you again, Caleb.” It was the same as always.
He sled and kissed my forehead, “I’ll see you in the spring.”
Off he went, hood up, speed high.

I will actually try to upload once a week now. I'm shifting my focus back on this blog for a while.
Father Lucius asks about the mission I gave to Caleb. Again, I don't tell him the whole truth, but he doesn't seem to notice. I pass the test that was left behind for me. Meanwhile, at the castle, Josephine talks to Caleb.
“Princess, a moment.” Father Lucius came to find me after his preaching this morning.
“Yes?” I stayed my steps and waited for him to catch up.
He walked beside me, “I have questions about Caleb’s mission.”
“Go ahead and ask them.” I said.
“When was it decided that we needed another waterway? That wasn’t something you brought up before. It was never on any of our dockets. We’re doing well. Miss Aislinn seemed surprised.” He held his arms behind his back.
“There are some things I don’t share. A lot of other projects were more important, so we dealt with those. However, with our recent troubles, I realized that I needed more action and less patience. I risk too much keeping quiet, it seems.” I looked over the balcony to the outside garden.
Lucius squinted, “But what you told us was a lie, wasn’t it?”
“Only in part. I was going to have someone do the work. I told Caleb if he saw his grandmother during his journey, he was permitted to speak to her.” I fibbed once more and dipped a toe into the truth.
“I see. A bit of coercion. Any messages sent with him?” Another query came to pass.
I shook my head, “I don’t think she’d want to hear from me again. Anything else?”
He bowed, “No, dear princess, thank you for being honest with me.”
“Of course. Shall we to lunch? I heard we’re having pumpkin stew.” I walked ahead of him towards the dining room.
Viper was waiting for me outside of the main doors. He smiled when he saw me. His eyes flickered with curiosity since I was arriving with Father Lucius. I held his hand and went to kiss his cheek. His pierced lips met mine instead.
I put my hand on his cheek, “Chillax.”
He smiled, “Alright.”
We did feast on fresh pumpkin stew seasoned with natural herbs and spices. It was rich, warm, and filling especially with bread. It was nearly stale, but it hadn’t molded. Quiet conversations happened all around the table. It was strange without Caleb there.
My love Viper walked with me on patrol. We didn’t expect much and didn’t experience anything out of the norm. That is, until we heard yelling at the base of a ladder. Two of the soldiers who didn’t end up going with my knight and Simone’s girlfriend were arguing about something.
Raya then used the butt of her staff to hit one of them in the face. It became a full on 2-v-1 battle. This wasn’t right. Viper and I made eye contact and intervened. I got the staff away from Raya while Viper was able to bind the wrists of a soldier with his studded belt. We teamed up on the last one and got her captured, too.
“What is the meaning of this?” I asked as I caught my breath. “What sort of argument needed to escalate to violence? Raya, soldiers?”
None of them wanted to look at me.
“Nothing? Fine. A week of stocks for all of you. It can be shortened with honesty.” I commanded.
“Doesss it really have to be so harsh?” Viper asked. “You can jusssst let them go.”
“No. If there is strife, we must get to the bottom of it. Besides, we can’t have anyone disobeying direct orders out of…whatever feelings may be boiling. I’m glad you have them, but they cannot make you into beasts.” I looked at each one of them.
“You’ve passssed your sssecond test.” My lover said. “Thisss was Caleb’s idea before he left. With his sudden mission, we still decided to go through with it.”
I furrowed my brows, “What sort of test is this?”
Raya replied, “Sticking to your morals when it comes to fighting and feelings. He knows you hate infighting. You’ve gotten better with dealing with it.”
We let them go and finished our walk along the edges of our Neon Necropolis. When we got back to the manor, the other members of my court were glad to see I had improved with my diplomacy. I gave the hooligans chances to explain themselves before giving a fair punishment.
It took about 2 weeks to get to the castle as a group of 4. Of course, as soon as Caleb and Jezra appealed to the toungeless king, they were jailed. His new mouthpiece said he’d talk to them later, so Caleb began to think about how to make himself more believable. Would the plan he made with Y/N really work?
Footsteps came down the steps. It seemed like a few of them. Two or three.
“I can make my way from here.” An aged female voice said.
“You’ve got 15 minutes, Miss Josephine.” One of the guards replied.
A single pair of slow steps approached the cell Caleb had been placed in and stopped on the other side.
“Look at me.” She said.
Caleb couldn’t hide how tired his amethyst eyes were as he looked up at Grandma holding a lamp, hash and warm light cascading over her face.
“Hello there, sweetie.” Josephine smiled. “You’re not supposed to be here.”
“I am, though. I missed you too much.” He replied.
“Let me see you. Come here.” The woman requested.
Caleb walked forward, the chains on his arms and legs giving him enough slack to get into the aura of light.
Her eyes softened, “You’re even more handsome than the day you left. What are you doing back? And don’t give me that lie.”
“If you won’t believe me, then I will only give an untruth. I am here to gain the king’s forgiveness. She…she has not returned my love for her. She’s betrayed my heart, so I see no reason for her to continue her rule.”
“That doesn’t make sense.” Josephine replied.
Caleb scoffed, “I have taken back my affections. All of them. If she does not care for me, then I shall return her gifts in kind! I took those most loyal to me and a bargaining chip and left everything behind to be here.” Tears poured down his face. “I’m not as forgiving as I used to be, Grandma.”
She shifted the light in her hand, “And you expect his highness to forgive you?”
“I’m not that foolish. I only ask for his grace, not a full on dismissal of my past actions. A casual treaty, so to say.” He looked at the wrinkles on her face.
They had only gotten deeper in this past decade. More of them, too. Her head was fully gray now.
“Fine. I’ll put in a good word for you. Jezra?” She turned around.
“Yes, ma’am?” The woman asked.
“A direct question from the king: Who have you slept with after your betrayal?” Josephine sighed.
She replied, “At first, many. I do not recall their names. But nobody in 8 years has seen me in such a state.”
The retired nurse maid nodded, “I shall let him know.”
“Time’s up!” A guard called from the far end.
Grandma Josephine left wordlessly, taking most of the light with her.

Can’t believe there’s someone who is so into Viper and the blog is fresh, alive and (I hope so?) being updated! He’s my absolute love since 1st second. Really sad there’s so few of fan content about him. Definitely staying and waiting for new postsssssss 🐍
