I believe in the saying, "If you can't afford it, make something similar to it." I took a few months off resin crafting. I was used to not using gloves that my index finger went dry and chapped. I'm not sure if it was due to stress/sleeping late but I also had short headaches. I did not think of stopping but I knew I had to pause and breathe. Then last month, I received requests from 2 close friends for keepsake pendants. I'll be working on them this month of June! Their ideas/requests sparked my passion and creativity again. New ideas on what to focus on popped on my mind! Because of this, I also decided to push through with an upgrade on materials. WHAT❓ A battle song. A source of inspiration and motivation. I somehow relate at the part: "Huwag niyong sabihin sakin kung anong aking dapat gawin, di naman kayo natutong makinig." After following others for so many years, I think it's time to be stubborn on what I want for myself. "Maniwala, darating ang mga biyaya, higit pa sa lahat, lahat ng nawala." I'm back! 😂 My mind was busy and the new pieces I made took time to cure since I'm back to epoxy resin hehe. Troye Sivan's Bloom Tour in 2019 was my first major splurge concert. Of course I got scolded for spending so much. 😂 But saving up from my own salary (every centavo counts!) and hearing and seeing him perform live? It was worth it! 💙🌹🌺🌼🌷 I was a semi-solo goer then. I am a work in progress. Every New Year, many people say, "I'll do better this year." I heard from someone that others may think that New Year celebration is just a social construct. However, it is a way to help us reinvent our goals and ourselves. We may continue moving to the path we've chosen or decide to carve a new one during this time. There are new discoveries year after year however, not everything is flowers and butterflies. We are bound to make mistakes because we are human. We are not perfect. There is always room for improvement. This applies for myself and my pieces. I usually ask my clients for feedback if they like the piece and what can be improved. I welcome these feedbacks because I know there will be a better version if I keep working on it. Same goes for myself as a person. Not all criticisms are bad, they sometimes help us identify our blindspots and work on it. Let's accept those challenges and step out of our comfort zone this year! 2020 was a year of fear, anxiety, breakdown, then maybe another of each again. And that is okay. Look for family, friends, or a professional who will listen. The year taught us many valuable lessons; gratitude for the little things we have, humility, empathy, etc. Every year is a year of growth. 2020 is no exception. It's just that it was rougher. I am not good at striking up a conversation with people. I've been teased for being too quiet and tend to warm up to people slowly. Instead, I express my thoughts, emotions, and ideas through art. I realized that whenever I create something and people see it, they approach me and I am able to hold a fun conversation with them. Since then, I use art as a way to communicate. There are different ways of expressing oneself and it is not the same for everyone. "Blue Blessing" We will have the house blessing in less than an hour. When I woke up, I realized that I wasn't able to prepare any accessory for the event. For the last 2 days I made resin earrings but I forgot to make a pair to match my outfit. Thank goodness that I have a tub of assorted color Hydrangeas. In 15 minutes, I managed to make a simple light blue Hydrangea stud earring with a silver rhinestone in the middle. 💐 Sometimes, last minute things can create a good outcome. However, I am not encouraging procrastination and cramming! My fave piece right now is called "Alab" or "Burning" My "fire" for creating or crafting any type of art will always be there. Sometimes I may get too busy and would just like to sleep. But, there are times that I will work on it non-stop for hours. I've faced challenges too. The ripping and crumpling of paper in front of me when I was a kid, the harsh words thrown at me. But, there were also encouraging words and praises that supported me. There is a fire in us that drives us to our goal, our passion. It may sometimes feel weak. But, as long as it is burning, it can become brighter again. There will be people, words, or events that will refuel that fire. Keep it burning. I will always love making art.
