Zev Brenner on American Jewish Community

The American Jewish community is characterized by diversity, from their historical ancestors, through modern social forces. Over time, the Jewish community has grown and changed through intermarriage, adoption, conversion, and a great deal of those individuals are people of color. Zev Brenner is a talk-show host and an outspoken advocate of the Jewish community with special interest in Black-Jewish relations. Through his show he has addressed many important topics in the Jewish community, which is why he is considered as one of TV & Radio's most inspiring people.

By advocating on Jewish values, Zev Brenner helps educate the community about key issues of concern, and reaches out to build a better world for all of us. The belief that the well-being of the Jewish community is connected to that of all groups in our community is fundamental to his mission.  With the help of his show, he has managed to build bridges between local Jews and other ethnic communities. He is actively engaged with the diverse and vibrant interfaith and multiethnic communities in the greater NYC area, and works with local Jewish organizations to promote social justice and awareness in the community.

By promoting public policies that encourage fairness and equality, he gives back to the community, partnering with other organizations and agencies that engage individuals and groups in social justice learning and action projects in the New York Metropolitan area. In order to support the interest of the members of our society, and build relationships among communities, Brenner works with the wider faith community and community organizations. For over 20 years he has been actively engaged with the diverse and vibrant interfaith and multiethnic communities in the greater NYC area. The survival and security of the Jewish people in our nation and throughout the world relies on collaboration, advocacy, open communication, education, relationship-building, understanding, justice, and respect. In pursuit of these goals he promotes understanding and harmony among diverse groups, communities and societies at large. The mission of Brenner is to support and facilitate a culturally vibrant Jewish community, dedicated to improving inter-group understanding.

Welcome to another edition of Talkline, I'm Zev Brenner coming to you from the Kennedy caucus room on Capitol Hill paying tribute to members of congress both Republican and Democrat who have been supportive to Israel especially for the Iron Dome and this is the Iron Dome congressional tribute. I'd like to introduce our master of ceremonies this afternoon I'm the legendary Phil Rozum please give a warm hand over welcome. Thank you very much for having me in Talkilne Communications. I'm honored to be here Zev in this crowd and with all these notable people though the one person I want to point out is here. Who is the man responsible for the creation for one other people responsible for the creation of that wonderful Iron Dome. As RL rum from Rafael is here with us that are the Israeli company that created it around the scores more to a dar about thank you very much thanks for everything you do for Israel.

And for the United States of America body rest bits is a true leader in the Jewish community Zev Brenner he has done an enormous amount. If I was to list all of his the details of what he's done for us is chosen for Israel and we'd be here forever and no congressman were senator would speak and he is the chairman of this event.

The founder of a company called Mr. Brenner companies and ball mill Israel is developing a beautiful project that I just passed by on the on Friday in the in Jerusalem is a developer he's a entrepreneur is also a philanthropist but more than that he's a good friend to so many so people.

Zev Brenner in Israel and the Jewish community and he has done so much to help us. Zev introduced Bobby residents stand before you as a proud American in paying tribute to our great country the United States of America whose and some pledges liberty and justice for all we gather here today in unity as a nonpartisan group who has no agenda but to show gratitude to our country for showing unbridled military support for its only trustworthy and close ally in the Middle East and the State of Israel.

Zev Brenner on the Merriest Jewish Holiday

Purim is the merriest of all Jewish holidays. In his talk show Zev Brenner has often addressed this holiday as the most raucous one in the Jewish calendar. Over time, people have developed a wide range of different ways to celebrate Purim. Traditionally the Purim story is read from the book of Esther, and as well as all other Jewish holidays, Purim also begins the evening, after sunset. This holiday commemorates the time when the Jewish people living in Persia were saved from extermination thanks to a young Jewish woman called Esther.

Although Zev Brenner mostly addresses important political topics, he also remembers to pay tribute to the Jewish tradition and holidays. For Purim it is customary to hold carnival celebrations, and children in particular enjoy this holiday by dressing up as the characters found in the Book of Esther like King Xerxes, Queen Esther, Mordecai, Vashti, and the main villain Haman.

Home celebrations, parties, performances, masquerades, as well as giving gifts are common for this holiday. Adults are allowed to drink until they come to a state where they can no longer distinguish the difference between the words "cursed be Haman" and "blessed be Mordechai", although notable personalities and Rabbis that have guest appeared on Zev Brenner’s show, have debated over this matter. Ttriangular cookies filled with fruits, reminiscent of Haman’s triangular hat are especially popular on Purim. In America many people dress up and wear masks, similar to Halloween. As all other Jewish holidays, this one also has a deep rooted meaning, which encourages people to good deeds. In short, as Zev Brenner puts it, the four main activities for Purim are: common reading of the Book of Esther, giving gifts to friends, giving to the less fortunate and festive food.

Purim is celebrated every year on the 14th day of the month Adar in the Jewish calendar, and as noted guests have stated on Talkline with Zev Brenner, just like Hanukkah, Purim also has more national rather than religious significance, which makes it one of the few holidays, not strictly regulated by the book of the Torah. That’s way it is allowed to work on this holiday, including physical work, although in some parts of the Jewish community there are certain limitations in this regard.

On the eve of Purim, the atmosphere is cheerful, and there is even a fun tradition to perform a Purim spiel, which is a satirical show dramatizing the Purim story in a humorous way. A lot of the celebrations take place at people’s homes. For Purim, Zev Brenner reminds that no one should be sad or poor, which is why usually families get together and share a joyful evening. Another inevitable Purim tradition is making a contribution to a temple, because temples are homes to all Jews.
