I see a few people nowadays saying Friend is "basically fanon" and never even shows up in-game"
Which is bull. And I'm not sure those ppl have played the game at all.
So. Friend theory!
I came up with this in like 5 minutes after reading someone say Friend "only appears in Cat Petterz"
I believe Friend represents the dark world, or something even darker.
Friend has appeared, to my knowledge, in only 5-6 places in game.
The first appearance, in Chapter 2, in the darkness above the teacups on the way to Spamton.
The second, third, fourth, and fifth were in Chapter 3. During the Eram fight, hidden in a secret board, when battling the Mikes, and of course in Ralsei's explanation of the Dark World.
The sixth appearance, as well as what is to my knowledge the last, (unless I'm miscounting, that would be seven total in game appearances right now, the same as the number of chapters. Possible coincidence.) are in Chapter 4. Once in the beginning, in the darkness between the walkable paths, and again in an echo room.
Every Darkner represents something. An item. If not in their original world, they turn to stone.
That the Knight does not is evidence of them being a Lightner. That Ralsei can travel between is odd to everyone playing.
But Image_Friend can travel freely between Dark Worlds, and turns to stone in none. And In Ralsei's explanation of Dark Worlds, it's used to represent Darkners in general.
Perhaps Image_Friend isn't a Darkner formed by any specific object, but instead the Darkner formed by darkness itself.
(or it's just a weird virus Noelle got, and it's following through Kris's phone. Who knows.)
