THROWBACK THURSDAY:

Dear internet, please don't do this. Please don't crop out cosplayers watermarks in photos and then paste your faceclaims/fancasts/etc. over their faces. And if you do, you could at least credit them when/where you end up posting the photo (which was not done in this case, which isn't surprising since they cropped out the watermark in the photo :P).

The image on the right is now floating around on the internet and Pinterest boards with a crappily-edited head onto one of our costumes (LIKE THEY DIDN'T EVEN TRY TO GET RID OF HEX'S ACTUAL HAIR AROUND THE EDGES??) and it is so infuriating uggggh.

(Also like that they slightly elongated the photo so "Tenel Ka" looked slightly skinnier THANKS FOR THAT :|)

It's happened with multiple Jaina and Tenel Ka cosplayers (as well as a couple Jacens and a TON of Maras) over the years and because the fandom isn't that big we know most of the people (the TKs and Jainas -- I can't even get in to the Mara's there are so many this happens to :\) who have made those costumes and how long they worked on them/how much work they put into them.

(My favorite is when people do this and then in the same breath give a DON'T STEAL MY ART/EDITS/WRITINGS/ANYTHING/ETC. like really bro)

THE LONG WALK // Heather as Peter McVries, Nate as Abraham, Aphy as Art Baker, and Sara as Harkness

Every Dragon*Con from 2007 to 2011 we had Long Walk costumes (ghost post-walk versions or mid-walk versions, depending on how we felt that convention lololol) and there was always one or two people who stopped us freaking out about how much they loved the book. It was always magic to find those one or two people and it was always magic to goof off on the streets of Atlanta dressed up as characters we loved from an obscure Stephen King book.

With Dragon*Con coming up next weekend and The Long Walk movie(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) coming out next month, we thought we'd post some of our favorite Long Walk shots from '07 - '11 to celebrate!

Nate and Heather as The Twins from The Cave

The first time we played The Cave we fell absolutely in love with it. Then we got to the Twins and just.......... :O!!!!!! You know how we feel about creepy twins -- we knew what we had to do! And PAX East 2013 was coming up!

I feel like this is the costume where our height difference works against us the most cause they are the exact same height and look so, so similar... BUT WE COULDN’T DO ANYTHING ABOUT THAT.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

We stopped by the Double Fine booth cause we wanted to get the Cave print they had there (as well as the BL Drowning Doom Ophelia print!!!) and Tim Schafer was there then! AND HE WANTED A PHOTO OF OUR COSTUMES?? (which made our weekend)! Later, when I checked Twitter, I realized he had tweeted it to Ron Gilbert, the creator of The Cave, and our weekend was absolutely super made even more. It was so awesome meeting Tim and wearing these and we had a lot of fun in them!

(Also, Elijah Wood liked/retweeted Tim’s tweet of our costumes so we were extra nerding out. :P)

TBT 2014 when I decided to make a DC3 Jaryn cosplay 😅 it’s been 11 years now and I was kinda hiding this fact bc I don’t think my cosplay was that good to share… on the second pic I took off the shoes and the leg spiral bc it was really uncomfortable to wear 😅

My inspiration of this cosplay was one and only duo @zhobot 😭🖤 such talented guys!! ily 🫶

LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So excited to see this~!!!! It looks perfect! It's such a weirdly detailed outfit (and I say "weirdly detailed" affectionately cause the design is amazing and it's the Glitterati so of course it's like that lolololol xD) and you have all of those details down stellar. <3333 The frickin' pleats in your asscape (I STILL LOVE ASSCAPES SO MUCH! still hyped that Jaryn got to have one hahahah~) and collar are IMPECCABLE.

Also, I feel you on the leg spiral HOW DOES JARYN KEEP IT ON AND DANCE WITH IT?????????????

There has been such a resurgence of Dance Central love and a lot of nostalgia for it on multiple platforms lately and it is so awesome to see!

Will you still do Dance Central related cosplays? I've seen ur cosplays for a loooong time and holy moly how much I'm loving them !!💗💗💗😭

Ahhh, we would LOVE to do more DC cosplays~! We haven't done a lot of cosplaying much lately since everything went crazy in 2020 (with COVID and cons and then personal stuff -- death in the family, moving for the first time in FOREVER, trying to get health stuff situated) but we're always talking about doing it again and have been collecting pieces and patterns to work with when we get the energy again!

We have sketches of original Glitterati outfits we'd still love to make too! <3333

Thank you so much for sticking with us and enjoying the goofy stuff we've made so far! We'll have to go back and see if we have any never-before-seen photos and stuff. :3

We haven't done a holiday card since 2020 and it's no surprise what this years card ended up being inspired by! :D

The Silent Hill 2 remake was everything we hoped and more and we thought this year has to be a card from the Sunderlands, naturally. So we made a gingerbread Pyramid Head and also had some extra photo fun as James and Mary on the couch watching ridiculous Lifetime/Hallmark Christmas movies with hot chocolate under Their Favorite Blanket.

Boss/Matt Miller & Kinzie Kensington from Saints Row IV

We wore the Boss & Kinzie outfits from the Saints Row IV teaser image to PAX East 2013 originally and had an absolute blast in them and after that, Heather did a couple of other Kinzie costumes in the same vein - her cabinet portrait and the press conference outfit, while Nate also did Matt’s cabinet portrait outfit as well!

Later that summer we were joined by Bria in D.C. to take some fancy presidential shots while the Washington Monument was getting some work done~ just pretend Zinyak did something to it and it was getting fixed. ;D

(Also, one of the photos features the Saints flag we sewed from scratch that had people on Facebook go off about us desecrating a flag when it’s the most lopsided set of stripes we’ve ever put together and not even the colors of a normal flag!!!!!)

Nate & Heather as Sokka & Suki from the Avatar: The Last Airbender

At Katsucon 2013 we had a huge Avatar group and it was TOO MUCH FUN. <3 We were going to do Sokka and Suki in their normal outfits but with how much we laughed at the tent scene + the fact that a bunch of crap was going on that season and we ran out of time to work on stuff (we have like... Kyoshi Warrior Suki a quarter done fkasdjfklasjfd) we thought going with these two versions would be a blast and IT WAS. xD

Heather as Quark from Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward

At Katsucon 2013 we were supposed to have both Dio AND Quark done but Dio (and his damn coat) were proving to be a real bitch (kind of like Dio lolololol sorry I had to) so only Quark made it as a new costume. Nate ended up wearing his Junpei which was actually pretty awesome for group photos due to... game... story... stuff I won't get into, and we got to reunite with some of our favorite lovelies from the original 999 costume group a couple years before!

Heather as Tenel Ka Djo (Queen Mother outfit -- described below) from the Star Wars: Legacy of the Force series (feat. Nate as Caedus/Jacen!)

This Tenel Ka outfit was loosely based off of DiHA-Artwork's Art Nouveau Queen Mother piece and I want to fix it someday to fit the art better (like how do I even re: actual hair?) -- who knows if I can fit into the dress anymore though, oyyy. I also need to fit the cape and shoulder armor together better (thanks to Abby for helping me clip it on here!)... I need to experiment with everything but originally this was worn in 2013 and I haven’t done anything costume-related in years BUT ONE DAY I WILL FFFFFFFFF.

A bit from the original post about this outfit that will always fit: This little area in the atrium of the Gaylord National worked perfectly for photos and we all joked about LOL SECRET HAPAN GARDENS and all that jazz because at the end of the day we are a bunch of Star Wars geeks and always will be. ;)

Nate & Heather as Frenchy & Marcos (Icon Crew) from the Dance Central series

We debuted these at Katsucon 2013 cause we’re dorks and we couldn’t resist. We also had Glitterati at that con but we thought Icon Crew would look so good with the group we had (ALSO SO OUT OF PLACE LOL). We couldn’t wear them for too too long through because 1.) they were kind of hard to see out and 2.) they were FRICKIN’ HOT.

But they were super fun all the same and we were so glad we pulled them together. We miss Dance Central. <3

So I went on a tangent over on Twitter a month-ish ago when another game company announced they were closing their forums and moving to Discord.

It made me realize how much I really missed forums and how good they were for being able to see people’s creative works, chat, get to know people and even do things like book clubs and RP. There was no algorithm that got people’s conversations/art/etc. lost in 3 seconds flat (or never shown at all…? thanks social media i guess?) and I saw so much more from people I wanted to see stuff from.

HAPPY 2021! Here's to this year being hopefully a gazillion times better than 2020. :B We've wanted to do Sonia Nevermind and Gundham Tanaka costumes for an eternity and we've had the wigs for almost that long as well. Since we just finished Super Danganronpa 2 on stream we thought we'd put together a special celebratory NYE Sondam with hamster Four Dark Devas of Destruction kigurumis!

One day we will get to their actual costumes (and maybe a couple other versions as well, hehehe)~

At MAGFest 2013 we debuted our VLR costumes which we had finished last minute (naturally, of course -- this is us, after all) before the con! For real, we were painting the stuff on Sigma’s jumpsuit like the night before we left. :B
