when i was a teenager i used to catch myself thinking "i'm really glad i'm alive right now because of all the cool personal technologies that exist" and when i did i'd think it through and reckon that well, its not like teenagers in the 70s and 80s knew they didnt have ipods or facebook or whatever. they were also happy with the tech they had. and i'd reason that in the future there would be more fun technologies that i dont know i'm missing out on right now and the future will be an even cooler time to exist

anyway i was dead fucking wrong about that last part. i hate personal technologies now. i miss having an ipod that doesnt advertise shit to me and i miss when my htc wildfire didnt harass me 45 times a day to install an ai assistant and then install it anyway when i say no and i miss when the internet wasnt 5 websites all of which i have to log into and i miss when i didnt need an app to talk to my landlord. sorry past me you were actually right about 2009

Huntrix as pre-colonial Filipinos

Their names are written in Baybayin to the best of my ability and their outfits are based on Nahia’s closet cosplay of them.

Zooey- Her outfit is based on the tv show Amaya (2011) because in the film she’s the most western, I have adapted her into the most ‘modern’, hence the sun shaped comb in her hair. She is also wearing a Patadyong printed skirt. Her weapon is a kali, though it would make sense if she armed herself with a bagakay but I saw a class for kali fighting at the park when I made this so I thought fate wanted her to have a Kali.

Rumi- She is decked out in the most gold possible because gold jewelry was incredibly important in pre colonial Philippines and the Boxer Codex had depictions of warriors wearing gold jewelry. According to one website, belts from the Philippines have a unique woven pattern not seen in any other country in the region. Rumi is also wearing a malong skirt in a tapis style.

Mira- T’boli and Yakan tribe styles. She is the most ‘fashionable’ of the trio and her battle makeup was the most prominent during the first time they went to fight the Saja boys so I decided to use Yakan bridal makeup for her. The combs with long beads are called a sewat and were a great substitute for her long hair because I debated on magenta or black hair. I will be honest, idk if Sewat is culturally accurate because the internet does not connect it with Yakan culture but it was in the same room as the exhibit for them specifically (unless I completely misunderstood of course) so I am open to corrections.
