Whenever I’m sad I just watch this scene of Luke falling with style from the Spanish dub of Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva and laugh so hard I cry
*rubs my hands together like a nefarious little fly*
It started as a silly crackship because I thought it’d be funny if Boone was allowed to commit atrocities because she and Angela were in a situationship. But then I actually thought about it and got invested soooo…
(yapping below)
Dr. Amanda Boone is cold and strange and kind of off-putting. She is also fairly self-aware, so she puts a lot of effort into masking herself to be more palatable. It is difficult to operate freely when everyone assumes you have malicious intentions. Yet despite her best efforts, her carefully crafted ‘friendly’ persona often fails because above all else, Boone is passionate. Passionate about blood and cells and bodies and bone—and not necessarily the lives that coincide with that.
And that passion is what draws Angela in. I like to think she’s drawn to passion, be it archeology or mitosis. (Maybe she has trouble finding it in herself so she admires it in other people.)
That, and she’s very used to folks who have a colder exterior. She’s lived with Henry for nearly two decades, after all. And like Henry, Angela assumes that Boone has to have a heart of gold just below the surface.
To Angela, Boone is a puzzle that can be solved with kindness and patience. Plus she thinks Boone is ultimately harmless/well-intentioned, so she finds Boone’s ‘mad scientist’ tendencies more eccentric than concerning.
And Boone sort of latches onto her because most others treat her with unease, and this is a nice change of pace.
So they get close because Angela finds Boone to be charming and interesting, whereas Boone gets one (1) steady relationship and a pretty good model for Being NormalTM.
I’m not really sure if Boone would actually reciprocate any feelings, but she likes Angela well enough, and doesn’t want to scare her off. This inadvertently reigns Boone in more than she would be otherwise.
Anyway uhhh tldr Angela’s like, “You’re a bit quirky but I like your enthusiasm. I hope you’ll open up to me :)” and Boone’s like, “Oh god I have to be so chill or you’ll take away my toys and also maybe I care about what you think about me and idk what that means help!!!”
