I cannot believe I even have to make this post, but here we are!
If you use Discord and you're looking for an active Invader Zim community (and this is targeted towards my fellow ZADR shippers), DO NOT join The Massive.
One of the first rules they showcase to you before you apply to join the server is that they do not allow Irken X Child. They are strictly against ZADR in general, but allow any other ship, which I do find to be a bit odd. I've seen people get away with Vortian X Child, as if it wasn't the same as I.X.C (irken x child) with another alien species. I have also seen incest art of Dib and Gaz and the creator of those artworks was let off with a simple WARNING.
Yet, creation of ZADR media, such as fanfic drabbles, art, or even mentions of liking ZADR can get you shunned like you're a victim of the Salem Witch Trials.
When a lot of users have asked, they have claimed that Zim is an adult, which isn't even true. Zim has no canonical age. The rumor that Zim is 160 years old was created on this very website by a fan who was HEADCANONING his age.
Zim and Dib are both depicted as children in the show bible, comics, show, ect. They have child-like behaviors and impulses (no, i'm not saying this makes them children automatically with their behavioral patterns) as well throughout the series's media. There is no reason why we should call Zim an adult if that is not Jhonen's intention of depicting him.
Before people come after me and say, "Oh, Sam, Jhonen has said Zim is an adult a multitude of times in livestreams and during InvaderCon!" I'd like you to know that Jhonen makes a lot of jokes about what's canon in his shows and whats not. It's hard to tell if he's joking sometimes, yes, but if he has made it clear that Zim is a child. It shouldn't be hard to wrap your heads around this.
Zim can be older than a human in IRKEN YEARS, but if Zim was described as a child in the Show Bible, this means his age in Irken would make him a child on Earth.
So, with that rant done, let me tell you about The Massive in general as well.
The two owners of the server are 23 and one is 39, nearly 40. Yet they still tamper with minors and make them feel guilty about being a "darkshipper" or a "proshipper" for liking ZADR. ZADR is a comship, which is a term to describe people who ship alien x human, or creation x creator. It is not harmful unless you depict the ship to be harmful. However, the owners really think otherwise. It only becomes a proship or darkship if you depict ZADR as a noncon / adult x child relationship.
The community is also very toxic toward people who used to, or still enjoy, ZADR media. They poke lots of fun toward them and place many disgusting labels on them, such as calling them pedos, darkshippers, proshippers, ect. This isn't even remotely true unless the person being poked and prodded at CONFIRMS they are one out of the many labels they are given before being shunned out of existence by the server's owners or moderators.
The Massive is just generally a place where a lot of antis like to go, and I wanted to spread this around to all my ZADR fans out there looking for a highly-active discord community related to Invader Zim. Both adults and minors loom around the server and spread hate toward literally anyone who steps foot into their server who is known for creating ZADR content. They keep a hawk's eye on you 24/7 with every word you type.
Another thing I'd like to mention before hitting the post button proudly is that you can't even depict ZADR on your Discord profile to join! Wowie! They won't let you in if you have a profile picture, description, pronouns, or banner that shows off that you enjoy this ship. Yet, they'll let you in if you ship literally anything else that is WAY more harmful than ZADR. This majorly affects people who don't have Discord Nitro and do not have the ability to customize your server profile, but people with Nitro are somewhat safe from this intrusion.
So, with that being said, STAY AWAY FROM THE MASSIVE!
TL;DR - If you are considering joining a highly-active Invader Zim Discord server named "The Massive", and you are a ZADR fan, I highly recommend you do not. They are known for their strict anti-ZADR policies that make no sense and act like Zim is an adult with an exact canonical age, which isn't true. Zim is depicted as a child ALL throughout the series, and Zim is described as a child in the show bible, which is something that Jhonen has written completely by himself and proves a lot of things to be canon that aren't mentioned throughout the show. They also rat you out if you have ZADR on your profile in any way, and you're banned almost instantly! Amazing!
