So this is my mom and grandma. My mom is going to be turning 48. My grandma? 80. I am going to be 30, and I did NOT inherit their genes. How is that even remotely fair? I mean, I don’t look old, bad or whatever by any means, but I do look my age. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but, like, it would be nice to know that I can age gracefully.
I took a week off, and stayed home. How did I spend it? Well, let me tell you that my house if fucking spotless, the cat is sick of me, AND I made really, really, really good food every night.
This.
already seeing americans using syrian refugees to concern troll about the homeless. “if we can take in refugees we should house the homeless!” you don’t care about homeless people you just hate immigrants.

How To Have A Good Weekend (like Ina Garten would)
Have your husband leave for a weekend, but prepare him dinner upon his return
Consider upgrading your “very good” olive oil to “your most excellent olive oil” by putting it on a small boat and sending it out to The Hamptons for a weekend
Steam your hundreds of denim shirts
Meet your florist for calamari stew and homemade bread
Take a walk through your garden, which has the most beautiful flowers and cubed cold butter, just perfect for making sweet and delicious flaky pie crust
Have Alec Baldwin do your grocery shopping (real episode I saw once)
“Golden” “Flaky” “Crispy”
Become so close to the owner of your local cheese shop, you cannot help having them over for scones and tomato bisque, separately
The wonderfully rich and warm gay men that live down the block have already promised to decorate your Christmas tree for you
Genuinely say “my fishmonger”
Garnish your table with basil leaves in mason jars, and have people shower you with complements like “I’ve never though to put basil leaves as a tablescape” and you humbly say “divine”
Buy whitefish spread and have it put you into a transcendent sunset overlooking the water
Make your very own lemon curd to serve to forty or fifty small business owners
Put together a flower arrangement that will never die
Greet your very good olive oil, now your very excellent olive oil, and delight that it has brought you back a lobster roll

Highlights of my Labour Day weekend: 1) making the best and the strongest fresh grapefruit margarita EVER 2) hanging out in the park for hours with my friend and my friend's super cute dog
How is it Labour Day already? Seriously, time flies. I guess all things considered, this summer wasn’t bad. Especially when compared to last summer, when I was having daily anxiety attacks and crying myself to sleep every night. So yeah, this summer. I spent a lot less time working, which has been pretty terrific. I would estimate that my average work week has been around 50 or so hours, which is not horrible.
At this point, I feel fairly confident in my professional abilities, and that’s a great feeling. Even though I do feel this job is fairly dead end in terms of my career progression, I learned so much over the past year and a bit. I like the fact that my bosses trust me enough to deliver the finished product and don’t involve themselves in my work.
I also reconnected with some old friends this summer. I’m not a social person as is, and people around me are getting married, buying property, moving, having kids, working super demanding jobs and adulting in general, which makes it harder to maintain casual relationships. I’m not great at making that effort, so spending time with people I haven’t seen in a while has been amazing.
