just convinced my girlfriend to watch Good Omens, she's currently on episode 1. Will update you all when she sees the ending of Season 2.
Girlfriend: I JUST WANT THEM TO KISS ALREADY
Me: wait and see :)
[on the verge of having a complete breakdown] i need to make some kind of list or perhaps sort things into categories
The Duality of Diamond Is Unbreakable
(Warning: this post is probably not going to make any sense, if you been here before you know the drill)
There seems to be a general understanding in the JJBA fandom that the fourth part, Diamond Is Unbreakable, is the most "happy" part in the entire series.
But here's the thing.
DIU is just as fucked up as the rest of the parts. But I think that [we] don't really acknowledge it because of how it presents itself.
On the surface, it seems like your typical slice-of-life anime, which, in my opinion, provides the viewer with a "refresh". It brings them a sense of relief, because yes, while there's still conflict, it's portrayed in a way where it seems like the typical "The heroes save the day with minimal sacrifices trope", which is one of the tropes that Araki himself doesn't really agree with. The complete opposite of the previous three parts, which showcase themselves as darker than DIU does. Those parts don't "hide" the fucked up situations and characters, where DIU minimizes the impact, on purpose.
But if you really get into the layers of DIU, you can see just how disturbing it is as the other parts.
It lures the viewer into a false sense of security at the beginning, so when characters start to die, it's more of a shock, despite the viewer having already experienced devastating character deaths.
My point is, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure has so many layers, and contains so much nuance and symbolism that I could write a book on it, and I feel that a big part of the fandom (dudebros, looking at you) just chalk it down and overgeneralalize like an it's an average shonen, when it's anything but.
(I would apologize for this rant, but I don't think I actually am sorry. If it resonates with you, then it does, and if it doesn't, it doesn't.)
Just a friendly reminder that all celebrities are advertisers. Every post they make or ask they reply to is for the purpose of selling you something and they will happily lie to you in persuit of that goal.
Parasociality marketing is still marketing. Don't fall for it.
...what?
LORD HAVE MERCY IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN I WAS INACTIVE FOR A FEW DAYS CAUSE MY LIFE WENT NUTS AND NOW IM HAVING ANOTHER VERY INTENSE EPISODE OF WANTING TO ONLY TALK ABOUT GIORNO GIOVANNA
He is my son I cannot stress how badly I want to pick him up by the scruff like a cat and carry him around with me heās so wonderful and silly and magical HOW DOES ANYONE NOT LOVE HIM
HOW DO YOU LOOK AT HIS FACE WITH THE LITTLE HAIR ROLLS AND HIS BIG GOOFY BLUE EYES AND NOT GO āawwwweeee hi there itās okay you can have all the mafia you want and some horrifyingly immense power too as a treatā
THIS! I LOVE GIORNO, HE'S SUCH AN AWESOME CHARACTER AND SO MANY PEOPLE MISCHARACTERIZE HIM!
(Tbh everyone in Team Bucciarati has my heart)
I think I'm starting to see a theme with the pieces of media that I'm interested in.
Like yes I love multi part series with supernatural/sci-fi elements, tragic lovers and underlying biblical imagery, why do you ask?
the universe is at the mercy of these two
There is nothing funnier to me than an ancient and powerful vampire becoming besties with a random priest from Florida because he just so happened to catch him hiding from the sun in a church.
Are you and your bestie really besties if y'all aren't crazy and plotting world domination together?
I'm not the only one who thinks that "the famous Mr. Crowley" was secretly a spy for British Intelligence during WWII, right? That he spread the ol' demon drink as a way of seeming evil to Hell during that time period, befriending Glozier and Nazis like him in the process, and then turned around and passed intelligence he learned on to the Allied Forces? That this is how he learned that Aziraphale had been unintentionally recruited by the Nazis?
Did he know Ian Fleming? Is this the root of the James Bond love?
This shit gets like 5 notes Iāll release the worst draft that Iāve been cooking up š„š„š„
I think Erina deserves a medal cause not only did a Joestar go in but then one came out too and she had to actually make that one and honestly Iād rather just let Dio win at that point
D'Arby you always have the best takes and I'm here for it!
Erina is terribly underrated and underestimated and I honestly don't know why. Like yeah she doesn't have powers but she literally stood up to motherfucking Dio in a time where women couldn't say shit to a man.
She literally raised TWO generations of Joestars by herself (with the help of Speedwagon ofc) and it goes to show how Joesph isn't scared to stand up to authority but fears the wrath of Granny Erina of whom he towers over.
When I say that I love Speedwagon I donāt mean I love him for the memes, I mean I fucking LOVE Speedwagon. I mean that if that scruffy little man showed up on my doorstep with his goofy accent and stolen hat I would take him into my home and feed him porridge. I fucking love Robert Edward O. Speedwagon. Absolute icon.
THIS! I know as a fandom we love him as a whole but Speedwagon is an awesome character!
Favourite version of Dio? (Diego, Dio part 1, Dio part 3, EOH Dio, etc)
I don't exactly have a favorite, but if I had to choose, it would be part 1 Dio! I just think how he's introduced and the way his character is portrayed in the beginning is very intriguing.
Hi! What's your favorite part, and why?
This question is so complicated for me, but the best way that I can sum it up is āit dependsā.
On one hand, I think that Vento Aureo was an artistically tragic masterpiece. On the other hand, I think that Stardust Crusaders was an iconic starting point that really feels like a shounen manga and was a big step forward for Araki. On the OTHER other hand, I think that Diamond Is Unbreakable and Jojolion were both lighthearted and more fun/upbeat for me to read than the others. Steel Ball Run was a great look into the mind of someone grappling with their disabilities and past suffering (as someone with mobility issues myself I actually felt like Iād been punched in the chest when it went into how he felt about it because yeah, thatās also how I felt for the first few years). Stone Ocean was a love letter and a monument to the end of an era. Phantom blood was a classic beginning. Battle Tendency was a bold display of several taboos like crossdressing, mlm love, an openly anti-racist anti-cop main character, and a strong female main character. Every part of JJBA holds a special place in my heart, but the one that I personally had the most lighthearted fun reading was Jojolion. It isnāt my favourite as an artist, but itās my favourite as just a dude who likes jojo.
This is exactly how I feel about each of the parts! For me, it's a tie between Stardust Crusaders and Vento Aureo.
Doing this because a mutual of mine gave me the idea!
Share your opinions, tell me a fact or ask me anything that's JJBA or Good Omens related! (Please keep it SFW)
I need someone to talk about these current hyperfixations of mine or I might explode :)
Rando headcanon but Crowley invented glitter with the specific intent of it being the menace we all know and hate.
He's so proud of it that it earns him a condemnation in Hell. That is, until he becomes Nanny Ashtoreth and three year old Warlock finds a packet of it laying about somewhere.
Legend has it he's still miracling random specks of glitter out of his coat pockets to this day.
Bitches be like āIām so tired and sleepyā and then stay up doing hyperfixtation shit for the next 5 hours
9:30 pm to 1 am are ao3 hours
