Red Epsilon “Zippy” Zzyzxia (pronounced “ZY-Ziksia”) is the deputy leader of the Bogey Squadron, the Redhearts’ special forces detachment, working alongside R-Null Kayla. She held multiple AC-related jobs prior to her current role, including serving as a test pilot for Pasengaz and, before that, as a combat pilot with GC Dynamics. On top of being a pilot, she is an adept mechanic of the machine itself, customizing its components down to meticulously stripping out armor plating she deems unnecessary to her combat style.

Zippy is infamous for having perfected their own eccentric brand of aerial warfare; despite their AC not being a tetrapod (the typical specialists for hovering aerial combat), its agile, quick-boost movements in three dimensions are highly effective at confusing Zippy’s opponents. As a result, for all but the most adept pilots (or those with particularly extraordinary EaR-brand armaments), she is nigh-impossible to counter. With all this flair, she has only ever met an equal in this fighting style in notorious independent mercenary Jaszmine Desduo of Sprout, though the latter has currently been stuck in the mission operations desert thanks to her role as the group’s operator and rarely sorties, let alone against Zippy. Nonetheless, the two have an explicit mutual understanding to stay out of each other’s way, lest they feel compelled to scar each other for life by pitting their aerodynamic expertise head-to-head.

ZENITH LINE itself is a slightly jagged, middleweight green, black, and yellow bipedal AC with a rotating array of armaments typically on the lighter side. It is also noteworthy insomuch for its SHADOMIND-designed head unit, which, aside from maximizing stability at the expense of armor, has an advanced sensor suite and fire-control system rivaling that of 2C2D’s best offerings.

Hi, I found your hgcz album today through tillydouspart, and I am absolutely loving it so much! The vibes of the songs just fit amazingly! My two absolute favourites though are cute little birdie, because it really is fittingly adorable and cheeky!, and Friend or Pho because I'm OBSESSED with the drastic change from a relatively relaxed, yet still energetic track to an AMAZING battle theme! It's just so cool and I'll be looping everything for the near future!

Just wanted to say I found your music through the recent album you made for the zine and absolutely adore it! Skulk bugs in particular is a favorite for me, but all the music is so high quality and perfectly set the tone for the comic! I ended up checking out your whole discography and you have such an amazing talent, keep it up dude!

And the name is actually a reference to the NMIXX song "O.O" (I'm a huuuuge kpop girl group enjoyer, it's big musical inspiration for me and NMIXX's discography is peak), but hell yeah I loveeee theatre, I've done sound design/musical direction for a ton of productions at my university (although idk if I can call myself a theatre kid since I got into it late?). Hadestown my beloved, and also if anyone ever adapts Lin-Manuel's "Warriors" for stage I will be oh so insane about it

I actually keep the morse code parts of the track over here on soundcloud, where you can either listen to the tracks/hear them more clearly, or if decoding it that way still isn't for you (I don't blame you, I don't have the patience for it either lol), the files can be downloaded and put through an online decoder like this one!

I think this is way more satisfying, but if you have any trouble with it/if the download is being weird (I'm not sure if you need a soundcloud account for it) do not hesitate to send another ask, I'd be happy to tell you straight up :)

I’m thinking of applying for the composer position because I studied music in college and have experience making piano melodies, but I’ve never officially mixed multi-instrument pieces or used a DAW (I just use free notation software) so I’m very hesitant rn. Should I still apply and get help from those who do know how to mix and stuff? I could learn as long as I have guidance I think.

We encourage everyone who's interested to apply, regardless of your background! Technical experience is one factor in how we'll be making decisions about who we take on, but so is making sure we have a range of people who are a good fit for all of the tracks we need - you might be the perfect fit for a part of the game that we don't have anyone for. You never know :) Also, it could be worth checking out whether your software has an "export as midi" option - this is part of how I transitioned from using Sibelius to using my DAW (I had a classical music background before getting into game music/other contemporary stuff). Outlining a piece in notation software/where you're more comfortable and then exporting it to the DAW and messing with the instrumentation, expression, etc. is a super valid way to compose! You just have to watch out for unwanted data that also gets imported (e.g. Sibelius files will import with volume and panning data that needs to be deleted manually from the events list or else it will reset back to its default settings whenever you play back the piece from the start). And yes, if we take you on we can absolutely help you upskill! If you feel confident you can build those skills/get used to a DAW quickly enough, definitely feel free to apply.

question! for the composers, will the instrumentation be limited to mostly spitfire labs for the tracks?

Nope! The idea is a handful of spitfire labs instruments (at the moment we're thinking: Intimate Grand Piano, the one that's just called "Drums", and we're also looking for an acoustic guitar VST that we like/which has the same system requirements as LABS) will be recommended as go-tos for certain core instruments, as well as having a second list of LABS libraries that composers will encouraged to check out and experiment with (Opia Wandering, Tundra Atmos, Ambient Guitars, Strings 2, probably a couple more,) and see if anything from there fits with their vision for the tracks they've been assigned, but there's definitely no requirement use LABS exclusively! We encourage combining those instruments with other VSTs you already use and like/building up layers of instruments, and also if someone goes "damn I want to use strings (for example) but everything I have access to is kinda mid" and another composer has a recommendation, we might end up all adopting other libraries naturally. Everyone using some of those core LABS instruments will hopefully give Heartfall's soundtrack some cohesiveness, but we fully expect there to be plenty of contrast as well, and definitely don't want to stop anyone from using other VSTs/synthesizers :)
