"I have some big news, but I want you to open this gift to figure it out," He said and slid a box towards his father, inside was a baby blanket.
Moryo looked up from his book and set it aside so he could focus on the present his son gave him, he looked up at his son, his baby, with bewilderment and then he carefully opened it.
“A blanket?” He murmured, confused. He pulled out the soft the baby blanket, and then the exasperation hit. “Who did you get pregnant, Leof?”
fourthsonoffeanor:
“Pray that they did,” Moryo said with a heavy sigh. “Fuinefinwe will this really make you happy?” He asked, tugging his son close to hug him tightly. “Normally we would marry but you don’t need to, if you feel you wouldn’t be happy.”
“Marriage isn’t just about sex, that isn’t enough to make you both happy,” he gently chided his son. He wanted to cradle his boy and shield him from this but it would be futile and he needed to let Leof make his own decisions. Haleth and he made a similar arrangement to what Leof spoke of and whilst Haleth had been content with that arrangement he had suffered for it, suffered in silence so that his children wouldn’t know how unhappy he was with being so close to Haleth yet never having her love.
Leof frowned and thought about it, “It won’t make me unhappy,” he said with a shrug. He was not sure if him and Anariel would connect any deeper than on a physical level. But he had made a child and he knew how bad things would be for the kid if he didn’t marry Ana. She was a commoner and he was a prince. It would only have rumours flying and most of them insults to the mother of his child, and his child itself.
“It might be good for me, sign from Eru or something of the one I have been needing to stop my wicked ways,” he shrugged.

fourthsonoffeanor:
“I am happy for you,” Moryo argued. “I had dreaded this would happen with the way you persist pleasure so freely. Why didn’t you take any contraceptives? The herbal tea?” He stressed, carefully setting aside the baby blanket.
“Darling, have you even thought through what marrying this woman would be like? Don’t rush things through, think love!” He pleaded, and grasped Leof’s hands. “An unhappy marriage wouldn’t just affect you and her but your child too, should she decide to keep it.”
“I mean, the sex is good,” he said and looked at his father, “I don’t think me drinking the tea would have worked and honestly I never thought to ask if she was. It was kinda a... when we wanted some fun thing. Wasn’t meant to be serious,” He watched his father still, “She’s Noldo at least so not like I need to learn her customs.”
He stared at his father, “How bad can it be? If we don’t get on I can go on long hunting trips and visits will be less stressful on both of us,” He smiled a bit, “At least it is one child and not... well you know. If those ladies at the Funhouse didn’t use the tea I might have a fleet growing.”

“You could pretend to be excited,” He said with a frown before sighing and slouching, “A girl I met in a tavern, we have been... mediating... together for a bit. Just some fun stress relief and now,” He waved a hand, “I didn’t intend for it, but we are talking about moving in and marriage.”
"Name's Leof, and now that we are not strangers, my lady..." He moved in, tilting her head up and kissing her.
Anariel makes a small noise and freezes momentarily in shock, "oh!" She pushes him away and glowers.
He stepped back and looked at her for a moment before smiling charmingly, “No? Perhaps I was reading your answers wrong then, my dear,” he licked his lips.
"Atar, how do you flirt with someone who does not seem the flirting type?"
Moryo did a spit take, his tea flying everywhere and his face turned red. He stared for a moment, bewildered as tea dripped down his chin.
It was only a matter of time until his children showed an interest in other people given what their family were like but he'd hoped for a bit longer.
"It depends on how serious your interest in them is," Moryo replied and pulled a napkin out of his pocket to wipe his mouth at the table.
Leof sighed and flopped against Moryo, just leaning against him his father would feel how tense and tight his muscles are, "I think I hate it," He admitted, "Wish I had not sailed but I wanted to see you and Hal," And now he was stuck, "I have always been a hunter and a soldier, Atar," he could not seem to relax here his body so prepared for strife, "I feel like something is going to happen but nothing seems to happen here and it is driving me mad."
"I'd jump in the sea and try and swim back if I thought I would not drown on the way and just be brought back," he felt he could only be this honest with Moryo, "I was not born or raised in peace, I... I need something to do."

“I suppose,” Moryo conceeded, and gestured for his son to sit beside him on the sofa. “Do you know if they are sindar, teleri, silvan, vanyar or noldo? They all have different courting styles, the vanyar for example use flower language and elaborate bouquets to express their interest with each other. Among noldo the wealthier person within the courtship is supposed to be the one to express their interest through elaborate gifts made from their chosen craft.”
Moryo paused and looked to his son. “Just be wary of who you pursue, you’re a member of the royal family and there are those who would gladly use your interest to exploit you, dearest.”
Leof looked at his father and grinned cheekily, “You say that like I am looking for more than fun right now. Nah, love is complicated and painful and messy, I don’t want any of that,” He said with a wave of his hand and then sighed, “What if I were to say that they are... not any of that... what if I were to say they were ainur? How do you flirt with one of them?”
“And what the Teleri? How do you get them?” It seemed that he had his gaze wide and had found a few he was eager to pursue.
"Ainur and teleri? My you have an interesting taste," Moryo teased. "I have no experience getting an ainur's attention but I have heard that Tilion is interested in "fun" but I would advise against pursuing a maiar. They don't have the same concept of sex without love as we do, they can be incredibly territorial and possessive."
"Teleri are known for being very free loving and will often have multiple partners, they also have what's known as "prostitutes". They charge money for sex, your grandfather indulged in it before he married." Moryo admitted, recalling how furious his mother had been with it and how often she used to bring it up in arguments.
Leof made a bit of a face, "Not sure if I am at the point I would need to pay for sex," He said with a shrug, "But I will keep it in mind," No he was more interested in sampling all the world had to offer, "I prefer to to sample everything, Atar," he smirked, "The world is a buffet and I want to try it all," He paused and cleared his throat remembering how his father was about sex.
"Sorry, I should probably not burden you with such things, but thank you for the advice," He leaned into Moryo a bit, "How have you been, Atar?"

There was a boy that used to terrorize me when I was a small child. He would push me down, beat me up, cut my hair, make fun of my bloodline. But he always convinced me to keep quite about what was happening. I would be a little baby if I cried to anyone.
I never told anyone what was happening.
One day we were in the woods, playing with a large group of kids and he was showing off. Flipping from tree branch to tree branch. The other kids went to head home, it was getting dark, they thought we were behind them.
So he was flipping, and flipped to a weak branch, it broke. The branch was overhanging this lake, and he fell in. Turns out he could not swim, he struggled for a while, asked me to help him. I moved to, but then I stopped. I stopped and just watched until he went under for the last time.
Everyone was frantic trying to find him, but they couldn’t. Not hide or hair for a month. We weren’t allowed to play out in the woods by ourselves anymore. Mom took me to Thargelion and told me to stay with my father. It was the last time I spent a length of time with her people.
I never told anyone what happened.

Leof snickered at his father’s reaction before looking away from the other elf and back scratching at his beard with a bit more amusement than he should, “Well hard to know until I start courting them right? Which is why I need your advice on how to court. You and Mum certainly don’t seem the type to fall for anyone and yet,” He waved a hand generally at the fact that they had two kids.
(@fourthsonoffeanor ) "Darling, I love you dearly but what on earth are you doing?" Moryo inquired, completely bewildered.

Leof had been trying rework his cross bow to allow for three arrows to shoot at once but thus far had only managed to frighten the cat and knock out a window when the shots went array, “I’ll get it this time,” he said with confidence, raising the weapon to aim at the straw dummy once more.
Moryo watched with raised brows, his disbelief fading into exasperation. He wait until his son had fired the shots before he attempted to to interrupt, it wouldn't do for his son to shoot himself in the foot or something of the like.
"This is certainly ambitious, sweetheart," he commented, and placed an arm on his eldest child's shoulder. "Have you had any breakfast or lunch yet?"
Aware of how humans, and his sons, tired quicker than he, Moryo was constantly vigilant for any signs of exhaustion or distress.
He cursed when one of the bolts still was knocked off course and started to fiddle again with the crossbow, “I almost got it, Atar, I don’t need to eat yet,” he of course had not, but he could double up for the next meal and make up for it. This thing just needed a bit more adjustment and he would be there, “Hal might need food,” He said not wanting to be forced into a break. Leof fiddled more, glancing at Moryo once or twice, “Gotta get this ready before I go on a hunt,” He said hunt but he never came back with a kill. He wondered if he father knew what he really went hunting for and just ignored it, “It should be,” he took aim again and shot, three bolts planting into the dummy’s head, “Woo! Yeah! Just like that!”
