Skid and his dad may look nearly identical but they're opposites personality wise

you probably noticed I've been a bit inactive these past few weeks. Honestly, I haven't felt like drawing; I was really tired and needed a break, but now I'm backkk yayyyy I love u all🫶🫶

I have all of this write since October but I never liked it enough or wanted to do more with it or wanted to wait until I had all the designs before posting or...
The point I'm posting this now so I can't regret it, I'm going to update it some day...
Btw I don't play fighting games, that's exactly why I decided to make this little project about a fighting game so I learn more about them
Plot
all the au is inspired on Rival Schools so the plot is kinda similar. weird things start happening in the city, disappearances, crimes and a lot of insecurity in general, the idea of the arcade is go fighting around the city and trying to find what´s going on around, depending on what team you choose your motivations to go around learning about what is happening change and have different endings each one so the (hypothetical) player get interested in trying new teams to get every part of the story
mechanics
i want it to be a team based fighting game kinda like king of fighters or Rivals Schools, where you pick three characters as a team, i´m not so sure if adding a support mechanic like KOF or that you can choose between which member is going to start like RS
teams, characters, archetypes and motivations
-School´s sport team-
the idea is that this team are the protagonist so the characters are like the tutorial each one have mechanic/archetype defined so the player get familiar with the game. since they are kids the start of the history they think they are just playing and as it the story develops they realize this is not a game, maybe when Skid realizes that the cult is behind the things that are happening and relating it to thing from his childhood and end up meeting again his dad
Skid: Rushdown- Fast characters that specialize in close-range combat and combos/juggling. Purely offensive, sometimes with no projectiles, but even if they use some long-range attacks, they’re always on the offense.
Pump: Grappler- These characters are usually forced into defensive play because of their slow speed, large size and/or inferior jump, but make up for it with very powerful moves, and very little hit-stun. They essentially wait for their opponents to get in close to punish them for it.
Lucky: Zoner- They focus on controlling the stage, mostly with tools and projectiles, or melee attacks that outrange opponents. They sometimes lack speed and power to fight, focusing on wearing down opponents from distance.

honestly i don´t have an general on them more like individual ideas on each of the characters. probably at the start of the story they are just defending themselves, maybe Roy´s parents looking for him or Susie making graffiti and the police found them
Ross: mid zoner- idk if the term is official but it will have mainly long range attacks but it also have close-range and it has more power in his attacks and his long range ones doesn´t have the range of a zoner
Roy: Half-grappler - fast characters that not only have many setups and combos from grabs, but also good variety of moves to mix up their play; they’re actually more offensive than defensive. While being quite agile, they lack the speed to be Rushdown characters, and the long-range to be All-Rounders or Mix-Up.
Robert: Hit n run- These are fast characters who excel at getting in and out of their opponent's range. While they might not have many powerful attacks, with the few they have requiring good precision, they are quick enough to keep their distance and approach as fast as they retreat, punishing the mistake of their opponents.
Susie: Trapper- those characters are utterly defensive, tending to avoid opponents (though not always) and lure them with traps that put a lot of pressure. They tend to have a lot of indirect options to constantly keep their opponents on their toes. They differ from Zoners in that they can attack while facing away and evading their opponents, and that they excel in multi-tasking, usually stringing combos with their traps and their close-range moves. They’re also much more difficult to use than Zoners as they rely heavily on keeping a lot of pressure and mind-games.
-Grown-ups team-
Unlike children, who have a more “youthful” aesthetic and way of fighting, for example with more rebellious aesthetics such as punk, grunge, or street wear, I want adults to have a vibe that says they used to be like that but have grown out of it, with a more “clean,” boring, and corporate aesthetic. I want their fighting methods and weapons to be related to their jobs because that's what they would have at hand.
Jaune: Footsies - These characters excel in close-range ground combat, as they have higher priority or speed in their attacks while on the ground. They tend to be less combo-oriented than Rushdowns.
Aaron: Glass-cannon - These characters have some of the most powerful attacks in the game, but at the cost of very low defensive capabilities. They can inflict damage very quickly and often have superior range. However, in addition to lower defenses, they also have some kind of highly exploitable weakness, such as slow attack speed or low priority.
Lila: Precision/swordfighter - These characters focus on mid-range play, aiming to hit with a sweet spot to do good damage, and if they attack with a sour spot, they do much less damage.
Carmen and Richard: Puppeteer - These characters are basically two entities in one form or another.
-Stodgy* Job team- (probably would change the name)
A middle ground between adults and children, the main thing is that they are young people who have “just” started working but are “stuck” in a dead-end job. I am very tempted to make them a Dan Hibiki team, but I should treat them seriously, at least for this stage of "development".
Kevin: Hit n run - These are fast characters who excel at getting in and out of their opponents' range. While they don't have many powerful attacks, as the few they do have require good accuracy, they are fast enough to keep their distance and close in as quickly as they retreat, thus punishing their opponents' mistakes.
Radford: Keep away - These can be considered the Hit n Run of the defensive category, but with some traits of the Zoners. They excel at getting in and out of their opponent's space, not in damage, but they are very “annoying” as they keep opponents at bay without letting them act or react.
Frank: Brawler/tank(? - a mix between Rushdown and Grappler, I couldn't find a exact definition, but this sums it up well. Look at Bowser from SSB.
-Police team-
Not much to say, I had to add them for the plot :v
John: Setup - You play around your own strategy and then surprise your opponent, setting all the traps you can before they punish you for it.
Jack: Zoner—They focus on controlling the stage, mainly with tools and projectiles. They sometimes lack speed and power to fight, and focus on weakening their opponents from a distance.
Patty: Trickster—A character whose strength lies in a set of peculiar moves with many unpredictable options that can alter the battlefield.
-Cult-
main antagonists, they serve more as bosses for arcade modes. They would be playable in free mode, but I'm not sure if I should really make one for them since you lose a lot of the point of the story from their perspective. Maybe a non-canonical, humorous ending like the one for the chameleon in Bloody Roar.
Cultists: Marionette from Darkstalkers, a mirror character

“Leader” aka ‘Caelum’ aka “Skid's dad”: Dominating - These characters are similar to Rushdown and Pressure characters, but with very high power. They have formidable speed and damage that rivals even the most powerful characters. However, they tend to have very exploitable weaknesses, but differ from Glass Cannons in that they do not suffer from low defenses.
Some side quests I had below :v
◾️Skid doesn't have any items that he carries with him. Pump has a lighter and a hammer, and I think Skid needs something like that too
◾️Two items. And at least one of them is dangerous
◾️My personal suggestion:
1. A box cutter.
◾️I think it's as dangerous as a hammer. And in general, it can be useful in some situations
2. A water gun (and additionally a bottle of water to refill it).
◾️Not dangerous, and not a big one, just for funsies LOL
◾️ And it's also for the "fire/water dynamic", because Pump has a lighter
◾️This is my headcanon now XD
◾️If you have your own options for this, it would be interesting to hear :D
I don't think Pump is spoiled per se (he might be a bit cause of his room but I don't think he has the attitude of a bratty spoiled kid) but I do think he forgets his family is well off sometimes, like Skid offhandedly complains about his phone or computer getting old and glitchy and Pump's like "why don't you just buy a new one" and Skid just kind of looks at him

I call him Caelum bc i think is pretty fitting with all the cult and The eyes of the universe.
Caelum is a small and faint constellation, its name means chisel in latin and was originally named Caelum Sculptoris (the sculptor´s chisel)
A chisel is a hand tool with a metal blade that has a sharp edge used for cutting wood, stone or metal.
There a more common use in latin of caelum meaning sky, heaven or atmosphere

I love these tags bc it gives me the excuse to talk more about my really specific headcanons XD
The necklace is actually from Skid's father and he keeps it after his "death" as a way to have something to remember him bc most of the photos of him are damaged and this is one of the few that is intact, it looks like a cult necklace to symbolize that is from his dad.
How he wears it as time passes
The left one is the design I have of him from the short "Kevin's dream job" since he's really small and his dad's death is really recent he just never let it go, always around his hand like someone is going to take it from him
The right one is the design I have for him as we see him in the series, since he has grown a little and his dad's death has cold down a little he wears it more normally but he's still too little so he do a little loop around his neck (don't try this pls XD) I hc Skid's dad as really tall and his necklace is made to fit him so for Skid is just too long. Lila has said to him to not wear it like that bc it is dangerous, he does it anyway XD
Bonus: teen Skid from an au
He's more tall now so he can wear it without being a danger to himself, is supposed to be a little down than how someone actually uses a necklace but is ok he's still growing XD
