a deaf!reader au in which they get separated from the group, and 10k loses the reader. (aka a scared 10k calling for someone he forgot couldnt hear him)

It happens so quickly no one is able to stop it. One second, the group is heading through an old mall, trying to find somewhere to stay for the night.

The next, the foundation is crumbling. Plaster is falling, then chunks of ceiling are raining down, with their inhabitants-clothes, toys, etc-falling with them.

Stuck on one side, you and 10k. The other, everyone else.

Being on the 2nd floor, there isnt a door you can walk out of to walk around. You’re virtually trapped on half of the floor.

Once the dust clears, you and 10k climb to your feet, coughing. Looking around, you can see that most everything is still intact. The glass railing is mostly uncracked, as are the windows of the storefronts. You peer over the ledge, and see a group of Z’s corralled below you, stretching their fingers toward you, as if wanting to be picked up. They let out snarls when they see your face, and you pull back, shaking your head.

“Not going to get down there. There’s at least a hundred of them.” You say. 10k’s brows furrow, and he comes to look. He frowns when he sees them, and steps back.

“We can’t climb it.” He says, turning to face you so you can read his lips. You crinkle your nose.
