On one hand the Sun gives us warmth, the Sun gives us part of life, both to people, animals and to plants alike. On the other, to quote a famous poet; "The Sun is a deadly laser."
Inadequate protection from the rays of the sun only serve to confirm that as much as the Sun us important to life, it can quickly bring pain and in some cases death as well.
Thankfully sunscreen, among other means of protection against the heat and Sun, exist. Starrk was laying down on a beach chair, his back facing the sky, already asleep, his favorite and most commin activity. The warm yet not suffocating weather, the sounds of the waves crashing into each other and lapping against the shore, all of it was the perfect background noise to fall into a daydream, or to succumb to slumber and take a nap.
Lilinette tried holding her laughter while holding a bottle of sunscreen with her left hand, her right hand drawing with sunscreen on Starrk's back;
A smiley face, a mustache, squiggly lines and the words 'I fell asleep' decorated the slumbering man's back.
The parts untprotected by the sunscrene were already turning red, simply due to how intense the UV was, even if Coyote usually tanned very well.
"Ppfffft-! That's what he gets for falling asleep instead of having any fun!" Lilinette whispered, giggling mischeviously as she ran off, presumably to have fun in the water
Barragan: "Hmph." Barragan Louisenbarren huffed, standing at the beach shore, the water receding back into the ocean before returning to the shoreline repeatedly at his feet.
Coming to the beach was more of a hassle than anything. The sand was unpleasant, the heat irritating, and the beauty of the scenery ever fleeting with the amount of people that come to ruin it with the occasional littering.
However...a pristinely clean location, clear blue waters, an enjoyable breeze accompanying the clouds in the sky, all of that combined with the extremely rare lack of people present, is what makes the experience bearable. One might say, even enjoyable.
The peace and serenity of the place is perfect for resting the mind. And stretching the body. For an old man like Barragan, stretching everyday was extremely benifical for his physical health.
Where better else to do it?
Schools of fish swam around in the water, all kinds of them were there. Alot of them were edible too, and allegedly were delicious.
Harribel, Apacci, Mila Rose and Sung-Sun were setting up a campfire, and getting ready to catch, grill and of course eat some freshly caught fishies.
"Piece of crap rod!" Appaci grumbled, almost snapping her fishing rod in half in frustration.
"Stay calm. We can always try again, Apacci. Here, I'll show you." Harribel reassured Apacci softly, the latter being riled up after dealing with some difficulties while setting up her fishing equipement.
"First, we tie the knot on the fishhook. Secondly, we attach the sinker, so that the bait can swing away from the shore. Now we just attach the bobber to the fishing line, see?"
Sung-Sun chuckled behind them, her hand infront of her face, hiding her grin. "You could always do a simpler activity, if this is too difficult for you Apacci." She teased.
"At least I'm not just sitting around, Sung-Sun! You-" Emilou started, before Mila Rose, from a distance, interrupted. "Hey!! Are either of you gonna help me carry all this fire wood or what!" She called out.
"Coming." Sung-Sun answered, getting up.
It's quiet. Eerily quiet. If you had a heart, you could hear your own heartbeat. And it was dark, so very very dark. The unnerving lack of sound coupled with the engulfing darkness of the ocean floor would fill anybody with fear.
Not because you are alone and cold in this terrifying environnement, but because you aren't. And you don't know what else is with you.
Even so, Ulquiorra prefered the bottom of the cold ocean floor, over the warm surface of the water and beach. It was peaceful and quiet, unlike the crowded, hot and sandy area above. There was nothing to enjoy in the heat and with others.
Thankfully, he was gifted with extraordinary eyesight even in his pitch black settung. He watched as a fish passed by.
'Fish don't think', he thought. 'They simply exist. Without meaning. Without mind and heart and soul.', he continued.
The fish had accelerated, opening it's small mouth and capturing a smaller crustacean. It was a being fueled by the need to eat and guided by the instinct to hunt.
'Instinct.' The Espada observed. 'If only we could all be such simple creatures.'
"Tch. Finally, some big ones." Grimmjow snickered, taking off his sunglasses and carelessly throwing them onto his beach towel, his surfboard tucked under his arm. "I was getting tired of watching those baby waves." He said excitedly, as he began running to the water infront of him.I
t was supposed to be windy today at the beach, which meant it would be perfect for some big waves to form, waves worthy of surfing on. At least to Grimmjow.
Who cared about building castles or collecting sea shells and all that nonsense? The fun lied in challenging the waves, in battling with nature in the water!
"Wooohoooo!!!" Grimmjow rejoiced, as he mounted his surf board and rode a big wave! The wind blowing in his face, his hair wet and body slick, the sound of the sea beneath his feet.
Soon after, he jumped into the water, his body submerged for a few seconds, before he popped his head out the water. "Hell yeah! That's what I'm talking about"! He cheered, swimming back to shore to prepare for another big wave.
Maybe if he's lucky, he'll get to battle with a shark too.
Treasure hunting, crab hunting, fishing, volleyball, building sand castles, collwcring sea shells, so on and so forth are all children's activities one can participate in at the beach.
Harmless fun. But why should those activities be limited by age?
"Excuse me mister?" A little boy walked up to Zommari, his eyes lit up in amasement. "Did you build that sand castle over there?" He asked.
The sand castle that the younh boy was refering to, and that Zommari had built, was more akin to a sand palace. It looked like something professional, around 360 centimeters (12 ft) tall, and as big and wide as a car! It even had intracate patterns, with seashells adorning its exterior. A small group of people had gathered around the sand monument.
Zommari looked down at him, then back at the sand castle, and nodded. "Why yes, I am the one responsible for building that sand castle." He answered softly.
The boy smiled widely, even if he had his two front teeth missing. "Can you show me how to do that?!"
The man smiled just barely, and nodded. "Of course."
Szayeloporro stared at his phone in pure silence. The beautiful dishes that had been prepared for his photoshoot at this new restaurant near the beach sat untouched and untampered.
His face didn't move, but his grip on the pink mobile tightened, until he almost cracked the screen, making his Fraccíones whimper in fear.
But instead of lashing out, the pink haired Espada simple exhaled, sitting straight with his back against the plastic chair he was sitting on, and running a hand through his pink hair.
His amber eyes looked deep into his Fraccíones' eyes, and he began addressing them: "Surely you must be aware of how impressive it is? How you could take this many pictures of someone as perfect as me, yet have all of them turn out like shit?" He said, his voice dripping with venom and condescension.
"S-Sorry master Szayeloporro!" One of his minions squeaked.
Szayeloporro adjusted the delicate Dodonaea in his hair, its pale yellow colour resembling the sun, like the one spreading its beams on the beach behind him. "Now, I understand this might be hard to comprehend with your limited intelligence, however I need you to try again and take better pictures this time." Szayel explained with a calmer tone, though the thinly veiled anger underneath purposely hadn't gone unnoticed.
After handing the phone back to one of his henchmen, he adjusted the stylish yellow and orange Sarong he had to wear for the photoshoot. He began posing with the food on the table.
"Your lives depend on these pictures. Go on, I'm ready now." He dramatically declared.
The ice cream shop owner got lucky today. Why is that? Because Aaroniero had come by. Due to his genetic makeup as a Hollow, he couldn't stand the sun, something that wasn't favorable at the beach.
He had been at the local ice cream shop for the past hour, having blown almost two hundred euros on ice cream. Specifically, a scoop of 38 different flavours of ice cream.
Safe to say he was enjoying the classic summer treat. So much so, that he had begun making a tier list off all the different flavours:
"Lemon on it's own is an A tier...." He began. "But paired with dark chocolate it's SS...."
Another customer nearby couldn't help but interject; "Yo dude, if you add strawberry to that combo, you'll get heaven in your mouth." The stranger said as they passed by.
Aaroniero paused, silent for a moment, before his Glotonería absorbed his scoop of strawberey ice cream.
"...An acceptable combanation. Strawberry itself belongs in B tier however." The Arrancar concluded.
"Just give up already weakling, I'm way ahead of you!"
"No you're not, and I'm not stopping! I'll beat these watermelons then I'll beat the crap out of you!"
"Is that a threat you big hunk of funk!! You wanna fight, bring it!"
Nnoitora growled, his attention no longer on the watermelon bashing contest, and now on the other participant: Yammy.
His bat was soaking, dripping with the juice of the crushed fruit. "Raaahh!!!" He charged at Yammy.
Yammy grunted, raising his arm and blocking the hit, his own bat in his other hand, ready for a counter attack. "I'll make you regret calling me weak Nnoitora!" He exclaimed, furious.
(A/N: sorry I know this is short, it's kinda hard to write for these two 💔)
'This is the life.' Shinji thought while sitting at the beach, Caipirinha in hand, speaker on his right side playing Summer music from the radio, the wind kissing his torso and legs, and his swimsuit comfortably on, Shinji was having a blast.
No one asking him questions, no Snaggletooth to beat him up with her obnoxious slipper, no one even talking to him! It was perfect.
Sneaking away for this day off at the beach was a brilliant idea. A much needed break from the other visoreds.
"What the hell are you doing here?!" Someone from a distance behind the blond shouted, accompanied by a beach sandal hitting the back of Shinji's head, which sent him flying forward and his drink to the ground.
"My drink, you a-!" Shinji started, before his brown eyes widened as he saw who had hit him: Hiyori, accompanied by Hachi, Kensei, Lisa, Love, Rojuro and Mashiro, were all in their swimsuits.
"What are you guys doing here?!" He questioned. "I asked first!" Hiyori replied, grabbing her other sandal as she scowled at him.
"We," Began Lisa. "Were hoping to enjoy taking a break for once. Since you were supposed to be away for 'some personal business', Shinji." She explained, giving him a nasty look.
"That's so mean Shinjiiii!! Going to the beach without us!" Mashiro added, pouting as she took off her sunglasses.
"I'm gonna beat the crap outta you, you dirty liar!"
Love and Rojuro laughed, Kensei snorting in amusement as Hiyori began chasing Shinji with her sandal.
