The Story - Chapter One
The Wedding
July 19th, 2019 - London, UK
Anne hugged me tightly as I stood in the corner of the enormous backyard awkwardly.
"Oh, honey. Am I glad to see your bright..." she paused for a moment and looked at my face, "more so upset, yet beautiful face."
I couldn't help but share a small smile with her as her backhand compliment did ease me up a bit. Although, I was pretty sure Anne and Gemma were the ones who sent me the invitation to this shitty wedding, and not the actually groom and bride themselves. I could tell by the way all the groomsmen and groom himself were shocked when I sat in the back of the church. However, it also could have been that the dark colors of my dress weren't the most "wedding appropriate".
"Oh, hun. I know this may really, really, really, really suck."
"But?"
Anne gave me another look as if she had nothing else to say but shrugged her shoulders, "Me and Gemma missed you dearly and you know we always will love you. How about we have a girls day tomorrow. Tea, nails, oi! maybe even-"
"Anne, give me a minute," I kissed her cheek softly as my eyes followed the sneaky little blonde man walking out the back gate holding a pack of cigarettes.
I walked out to the back gate, looking to my left seeing nothing but a forest filled with sunflowers making my mouth slightly open in complete awe. Well, that was until a familiar voice caught my attention.
"Hello Tegan."
I turned my attention behind me smiling wide as I saw Niall leaning against the fence with a cig between his fingers, smiling wide.
"Hi there, leprechaun."
Niall laughed softly and shook his head, "I've known you for six years and you're still being racist."
With a small gasp I began to giggle while shaking my head, "I don't think that's racist. More stereotypical in my opinion."
"Mm, no. It's pretty racist."
I laughed more clearly this time shoving him slightly, the ashes falling off the cigarette catching my attention.
"When did you start smoking?"
"When did you come back alive?"
I scoffed slightly while nodding slowly, "Touche."
"Niall?" I froze up before looking down at my feet, knowing who's voice that belonged to, too well.
"Niall, we're going to cut the..." He trailed off quietly, feeling his eyes burn into the back of my head, "We're, uh, we're gonna go and, um, cut the cake."
I looked up, having my eyes meet with Nialls. Niall nodded slowly then looked at the body behind me before smiling awkwardly and speaking, "I'll meet you two back at the party."
My feet soon began to act before my head and started to follow Niall back through the gate before a rough hand wrapped around my forearm and stopped me quickly. We stood in silence for a good minute before he finally broke the ice.
"Why are you here?" He asked quietly.
I cleared my throat softly trying not to choke up on any words, "Um, your mum and Gems invited me. I didn't want to be-"
"No they didn't."
I looked up at him already knowing from that point on who did, but acted confused to try and make a longer conversation out of our short encounter. Before I could even ask who did invite me, he answered with the answer I already knew.
"I did. Cassandra doesn't know though. I really didn't think you would come, but then I also knew I was dying to see you, and-" He abruptly stopped talking and grabbed the necklace hanging from my neck, making me groan loudly already knowing what was going to happen.
"Yes, Harry. It is the necklace you gave me. Now stop. I don't like people touching me." I whined loudly, swatting his hand away. My gaze once again locking onto the sunflower fields behind him.
"You've noticed the fields I've planted," He smiled to himself as he stood behind me, his hand brushing against mine.
"I planted them for you. I've always known that they were your favorite. I made it so every morning I wake, I can think of you," He explained pointing up to the bedroom window.
A small chuckle came out of my body as I shook my head and looked up at him.
"What?"
"Harry, you're a married man...Let's try to keep it that way, darling." I leaned forwards kissing his cheek softly before beginning my way back to the party.
"Where are you going?!"
"Gotta go and cut some cake, Harry!"
