Pelican Last Honorable Mention of 2022

Alright born on the beach Pelican Brewing is a staple for the Oregon coast unfortunately we were not able to make it to the one in pacific city the one that sits right on the beach, but we did venture to the cannon beach location which is a cool location in walking distance from the beach and lots of pups walking by and stopping with there human counter parts for a taste beverage we plan to make our way down to the beach location in pacific city this year and from the photos it might just crack our top 5 but as for the beer they are always solid from juicy hazy's to pale ales and lagers they are always a safe bet for good food and tasty beer if you're on the Oregon coast

We Went To A New Bellingham Brewery Last Friday

not one of our 2022 best of since we didn't go to until after the new year but we decided last Friday to give the two week old Darach Brewing a chance and the place it self was super cool great ambience and great back patio , the beer was pretty good lots of farm ales which aren't our favorite but the beers we had were pretty good and true to their style we will check back in again late winter or early spring , Cheers!

KULSHAN BREWING!!!!

Our next Honorable Mention needs no introduction Kulshan Brewing Bellingham Washington,

The only reason Kulshan was left off the Top 5 and put in the honorable mentions category is because Thomas (my boyfriend) works there and we go there multiple times a week and didn't wanna have any sort of favoritism in our Top 5, but their county wide following speaks for itself, if you are looking for a crisp delicious lager or a west coast IPA and anything in between you can't go wrong with KULSHAN BREWING CO.

HONORABLE MENTION : FRINGE BREWING (Ferndale)

Okay lets start with an honorable mention, Born in March 2019 Fringe Brewing was the first brewery in the small town of Ferndale Washington that sits just about 10 miles north of Bellingham their slogan was (Ferndale's Best, Worst And Only Brewery) the beer was admittedly not my favorite at the time but after some years of avoiding the only brewery in the town I live in I decided lets give them a chance to redeem them self I was pleasantly surprised to see how far they had come in the time that had past, now my go to is their portal pilsner a bohemian style pilsner , my boyfriend also enjoys the Cascading Dark Ale that donates money to the animal hospital near by , they are a fun little spot for us to go when we don't feel like going to far from home with solid beer and and good music taste, Nothing like a night walk in the fall having a nice beer while bright eyes plays in the background, if you find your self in Ferndale wanting a beer check them out !

TOP 5 OF 2022

We visited 28 breweries in 2022 and we will be bringing you our Top 5 of the year with a couple honorable moentions that didn't quite crack the top 5.

3 States from Washington to California we ranked our favorites, we will unveil them one at a time with a short story for why each made the list stay tuned first post today or tomorrow

Auf Wiedersehen Chuckanut !

So we took a bit of a winter hibernation if you will, there has been freezing, snow, ice and floods you name it up in Washington this winter, but before we move on to spring and our upcoming trip back to Oregon I wanted to touch back on saying goodbye to one of our favorite Bellingham breweries Chuckanut brewing , now Chuckanut is closed in Bellingham they still have a skagit location ,but  we already miss them being here in town, I have never met a beer from Chuckanut that I didn't enjoy with world class German style lagers and pilsners you could throw a dart at the tap list and end up with something to satisfy the senses they had a nice little dog friendly back patio with the sent off the Pacific Ocean in the air and a cool ocean breeze our last trip to our beloved brewery was a typical one , great beer, great atmosphere and one of our dogs spilling a half liter of a pilsner, and ended with asking the beer slinger to chose me a beer while was the hopped lager and it was just as good as expected that brisk fall afternoon was a fitting farewell to a truly amazing brewery we will definitely be making the 45 minute drive to the skagit location to get some more of these delicious beers !

Seaside Trip

well the seaside trip was a much needed getaway to one of our favorite spots on the coast, we set out on a Friday night from our hometown of Ferndale  Washington, five hour drive that took us into the night after some much needed sleep and coffee, the Saturday afternoon was a hunt for breweries to explore in the town of seaside Oregon, first stop on the map was seaside brewery which to our surprise has existed since 2012 ...... which means it was here the last time we were there, now with a new look and a beer garden outdoor patio it is much more noticeable, but now its time to talk the beer first round was the Mexican Style Lager for Thomas  and a Marionberry Hefewiezen for me 

the Mexican Lager was a clean tasty lager that seemed to taste a bit of an American tasing lager but still very tasty , as for the Marionberry hefe it was everything i could have asked for lotsa of aroma lots of flavor one of my favorite beers of the trip 

as for round two I had the ginger blonde ale while Thomas had the pale ale which he described as one of the best pale ales he’s ever had and as for the ginger blonde I was pleasantly surprised since I’m not a big ginger fan.

with our first brewery under our belt we enjoyed the rest of the day enjoying the beach and local attraction of seaside the brewery was a success. 

on to day two PELICAN! 

we ventured the 30 minutes down to cannon beach where Pelican Brewing co. 

has one of there taprooms had their beer plenty of time at other places but its always a little bit different going to the actual place and drinking the freshest possible beer, the cream ale has been a favorite of mine for awhile and it did not disappoint, just as good as I thought it would be Pelican was definitely one of the brightest parts of an incredible trip with the weather turning we checked out the beach during the storm and then headed back to seaside to check out the third stop 

last up on the Oregon brewery trail with our spirits high and hopeful from what had been amazing beer and amazing atmosphere at each of the first two breweries that we went too, was Sisu Brewery and that's is where this takes a bit of a turn now Sisu is only a couple years old , an old theatre turned sports brewery the big movies screen now plays football games and has a sports bar vibe not the usual brewery vibe we enjoy so much, the atmosphere aside the beer was less than stellar we ordered American lagers that had an interesting flavor profile to say the least hard to tell if it had an orange flavor or some sort of chemical flavor but something went wrong we look forward to trying them again soon definitely have seen breweries go from worse to better with some time so not writing them off yet beer wise, 

 all in all the Oregon trip was a great success had a lot of fun on the beaches, mini golf and of course all the beer we ranked them 1Pelican 2 Seaside brewery and 3 Sisu  thanks for reading all and go check out these fun breweries in Oregon

Party in The Woods

sorry for the absence everybody we have had a summer and fall full of exploring the woods and some breweries from Oregon and Washington it started with a camping trip to a near by Washington state park had to give Kulshan brewing co.’s collaborations with transition bicycle “Party in the woods” a try while being in the nature that inspired it, this hoppy lager has a nice bight and crisp tastes of grapefruit perfect for a camping trip or a ride down you're favorite biking trail it is a seasonal beer so get what's left of this summers best biking and hiking beer while it lasts

Pride 2021 in Bellingham

with all the covid uncertainties and then reopenings happening around the state (Washington), Bellingham decided to wait on their pride week and have basically pride month in July and with the opening of Kulshan brewing company’s new trackside location the stars aligned for a perfect Sunday pride March starting at trackside and ending at boundary bay and rumors cabaret , it was a super fun day filled with refreshing beer 🍺 inclusive folks and overall good times here are some photos we got from the even of my family
