Yuki Kajiura - I talk to the rain

This makes me think of Zuki’s unrequited love and how she’s bound to her duties as a maiko. It’s sad but beautiful. (Okay it’s not entirely instrumental, but I count her singing as an extra instrument to be honest, especially since she’s using her own fabricated language. You’ll see when you hear it.)

Yasuharu Takanashi - Kumo To Rouba To Shoujo

It feels very lonely. It sets the mood the distance she feels between her and the other maiko, especially as the eldest who has no choice but to be the most responsible one. (I’d like to see more development about that aspect about her, maybe with Sayo?) Anyway, I can just imagine this playing as all her ‘sisters’ are together while she’s in another room (or outside) with her Umbreon. In other words, if I were to assign a theme for your Zuki, it would be this one.

Zuki praying for Ho-Oh’s return. It’s pretty straight forward, but I love the way the bells come in towards the end of the piece. It makes it sound even like she’s inside of the Bell Tower, bowing her head before the bells that are supposed to signal Ho-Oh’s arrival.
