I STG Jotaro was thinking of Kakyoin and the other Crusaders in that moment. Expecially Kakyoin, and I’ll explain why.
So of course SDC must have left Jotaro really messed up- fighting Dio alone would have damaged his emotional state but LOOSING THAT MANY PEOPLE YOU CARE ABOUT… poor lad holy shit.
So it’s the faceoff where Jotaro gets up and defends Koichi despite him being absolutely beaten up and bloody
Then Kira says this shit;
THEN his next line he says Muda in the original Japanese version and on PERFECT CUE Jotaro collapses to his knees;
So then, of course, Kira mocks him and goes for a blow when Jotaro whips around SP absolutely beats KQ up (Whilst original Stardust Crusaders theme plays, hella).
And like Jotaro is Mr. No Emotion Dude 24/7 Pissed off so like it really struck me hard when he pulls a face of sheer anger- like his eyes and lips are drawn differently.
like jesus christ even for the DiU softer style this is so hard of an expression.
SO THEN after BEATING THE SHIT out of KQ, he speaks to the unconscious Koichi;
AND THEN HE FUCKING SMILES
OKAY SO why I think he was thinking about Kak especially is because of the fact that JOTARO DIDN’T SEE HIM DIE, OR THE EVENTS LEADING UP TO IT (I know he didn’t see Avdol/Iggy die either and I took that into account just gimmie a sec) but he probably didn’t even get told about what happened to Kakyoin until the ambulance scene right at the end.
Imagine being told about the death of a friend (who was his age at the time) who he would have gotten to go to school and spend time with after all of that had happened if he had survived, be KILLED after pulling an absolutely incredible feat with his stand. The massive web that Kakyoin made? Any other enemy and that would have caused some serious damage.
AND HIS FINAL MOMENTS oh my god his final moments,,,
Kakyoin was a teenager- and yeah think of how stressful that period of life is, then take into account how he’s literally had no friends and THEN was manipulated and controlled by a time stopping vampire- this dude had so much on his plate, he performed to such a high expectation. HIS FINAL MOMENTS HE DIDNT THINK OF ANYTHING BUT TRYING TO HELP HIS FRIENDS- AND I SWEAR THAT JOSEPH WOULD HAVE TOLD JOTARO THAT.
KAKYOIN THOUGHT MORE ABOUT HIS FRIENDS AND HELPING THEM THAN ANYTHING ELSE.
so I think that Jotaro saying those things to Koichi were the things he would have wanted to say to Kakyoin- those things that he never got to tell him.
