         the  conjunction  of  spheres  was  not  so  much  a  merging  of  all  worlds  into  one,  so  much  as  it  was  three  boats  knocking  into  each  other ,   &  spilling  passengers  onto  different  decks .    thousands  of  humans  &  some  vampires  were  knocked  into  the  elven  world ,   some  elves  &  some  vampires  were  knocked  into  the  human  world ,  &  thousands  of  elves  &  some  humans  were  knocked  into  the  vampire  world .  

        the  vampiri  home  world  very  much  still  exists ,  and  the  majority  of  vampires  still  live  there .   regis  never  saw  it ,   but  has  dreams  of  it  every  once  in  a  blue  moon .   he  collects  specific  herbs  or  magic  trinkets  that  reminds  him  of  it --   in  his  cottage  he  has  several  glass  bulbs  with  magic  blue  orbs  in  them ,  to  simulate  the  bio - luminiscent  plants  in  his  home  world .

       in  his  journal  he  sketches  out  his  visions .   they  all  look  strange  &  escher - esque  rendered  into  a  2d  format ,   but  it  brings  him  some  comfort .   regis  gave  up  hope  of  ever  returning  long  ago ,   yet  that  hardly  helps  his  heart  from  yearning  for  what  once  was .

       COLDHARBOUR ENCROACHES ON HIS BONES ,   lulling  him  into  the  verglas  certainty  of  oblivion .   regis  still  holds  the  curse ---   glowing  eyes ,  &  an  un - beating  mass  nestled  between  ribs ,   a  remnant  of  life  long  past .   yet  he  can  feel  the  blinding  glow  of  this  man ---   the  dappled  light  that  circles  him .   the  meddling  of  daedric  princes ,   the  certainty  with  which  they  paw  at  mortals

                ’ STEP BACK   , ’   geralt  growled  at  milva .   regis  did  not  tremble  even  though  the  sword  was  gently  resting  on  the  skin  of  his  neck .   the  archer  gasped  when  she  saw  how  the  surgeon’s  eyes  gleamed  in  the  darkness ,   with  a  cat’s  light .  

                ‘ well ,   go  on , ’   regis  said  calmly . ‘ push . ’

         regis’s  parents  are  still  alive .    they  live  somewhere  near  old  vizima ,   but  regis  hasn’t  had  contact  with  them  for  nearly  300  years ,   since  he  reformed .   the  truth  is ,   he’s  ashamed  of  who  he  used  to  be ,   &   finds  it  hard  to  face  them ---   &  beyond  that ,   he  fears  what  they  would  think  of  him  living  amongst  humans .

        his  parents  were  born  before  the  conjunction  of  spheres ,   &   still  remember  their  old  world  vividly .   as  such  they  view  any  non - vampiric  life  form  as  lesser ,   merely  playthings .   regis  grew  up  with  these  views ,  which  is  how  his  blood - addiction  got  as  bad  as  it  did .   he  never  realized  the  complex  emotions  humans  had ,   or  how  deep  their  relationships  ran ,  until  he  spent  50  years  listening  to  the  lives  of  a  village  he  tried  to  drain .

        he’s  penned  several  drafts  of  letters  to  his  parents .   about  the  friends  he’s  made ,   his  time  travelling  with  geralt ,   the  fellow  member of  the   gharasham  who  nursed  him  back  from  nothing  but  scattered  particles .   but  he  never  sends  it .   he  occasionally  sends  a  raven  to  spy  on  his  parents ,  simply  to  make  sure  their  alright ,   but  is  scared  to  do  much  more  than  that .
