Moss Graffiti 1. Collect a small handful of moss. 2. Wash the soil out of the roots. 3. Break up the moss into a blender with 2 cups of buttermilk/yoghurt, 2 cups of water & ½ a tablespoon of sugar. Optionally add corn syrup to thicken the paste, & blend, however do not overland to prevent the moss from breaking up. 4. Paint your design with the mixture. 5. Watch it grow & spray it with water to encourage it. http://share4.damn.com/moss-graffiti-the-coolest-diy-project-ever/?utm_source=acv&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=grafacv
Palomar 12's position in our galaxy and measured motion suggest its home was once the Sagittarius Dwarf Elliptical Galaxy, a small satellite of the Milky Way. Disrupted by gravitational tides during close encounters the satellite galaxy has lost its stars to the larger Milky Way. Palomar 12 spans nearly 60 light-years & lies about 60,000 light-years away, toward the constellation Capricornus. http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap150219.html
The Mice Galaxies’ long tails are created by the relative difference between gravitational pulls on the near and far parts of each galaxy. They appear to have been pulling each other apart & passing through each other & will probably collide again and again over the next billion years until they coalesce to form a single galaxy. Taken with the Hubble Space Telescope's Advanced Camera for Surveys in 2002. http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap150201.html

The new Revolution CT Scanner from GE recently completed a six-month clinical trial at West Kendall Baptist Hospital in Florida. There, doctors said they were able to diagnose even the most challenging cardiac patients with erratic or high heartbeats and reduce the radiation dose for pediatric patients.
Computed Tomography (CT) scanners are often the first imaging technology many patients encounter when doctors suspect serious disease or injury. The machines use a narrow beam of X-rays processed by a computer to create slices of the body and assemble them into detailed 3D images.

Padmé Amidala | Wedding Ensemble | Attack of the Clones
“Utilising the talents of Sandra Fullerton and her incredible embroidery facility in Sidney, we appliquéd with a manual stain stitch the available embroidered sections from an antique lace bedspread into eleven silk tulle pattern sections that would eventually become the wedding ensemble. As the amount of vintage fabric available was limited, Sandra’s team made over 300 yards of French-knit braid for Cornely scrollwork, to combine and meld the panels. The finished dress was then studded with pearls.”

Brightness measurements from different angles have shown Saturn's rings to be about one kilometer thick. The Cassini spacecraft, orbiting Saturn until 2017, highlights the ring's thinness in this image taken in infrared and polarised light. http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap110308.html
Where Children Sleep
Alex, 9, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil is unable to go to school and spends his days begging on the streets and sleeping on whatever he can find at night — an empty bench, an old sofa, or the pavement.
Alyssa, 8, Harlan County, USA lives in a small house in Kentucky, heated only by a wooden stove. Alyssa's father works at Walmart and mother works at McDonald's.
Anonymous, 4, Rome, Italy sleeps with his family on a mattress in a field. His family came from Romania by bus after having begged for money to buy the tickets. With no identity papers, his parents cannot obtain legal work, and clean windscreens at traffic lights. None of his family members have ever been to school.
Anonymous, 9, Ivory Coast is an orphan and a refugee from war in Liberia. He goes to a school for ex-child soldiers and lives in a concrete shack with some of his classmates.
Bilal, 6, Wadi Abu Hindi, The West Bank. Bilal's family are Bedouin Arabs who live in a one-room shack that they built themselves besides an Israeli settlement. Bilal does not go to school yet but helps take care of his family's 15 goats.
Delanie, 9, New Jersey, USA lives with her parents and younger brother and sister in a large house in New Jersey. She aspires to be a fashion designer and design her own clothes.
Dong, 9, Yunnan, China shares a room with his parents, sister and grandfather. His family owns just enough land to grown their own rice and sugar cane.
Erlen, 14, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil is pregnant for the third time. She usually sleeps on the floor but her mother has swapped places and allowed her to sleep on the bed during the later stages of her pregnancy. Erlen was 12 and 13 years old during her previous pregnancies, but lost both babies shortly after their births. If her new baby survives, she will be a single parent and will have to drop out of school.
Indira, 7, Kathmandu, Nepal lives with her parents, bother and sister in a house with one room, one bed, and one mattress. She has worked at a local granite quarry since she was three and she also attends school.
Jaime, 9, New York, USA lives in a top-floor apartment on Fifth Avenue in New York and likes to play the cello, kickball, and study his finances on the Citibank website. His parents own additional homes in the Hamptons and Spain.
Jasmine, 4, Kentucky, USA lives in a big house with her parents and three brothers. Her room is filled with crowns and sashes that she won in beauty pageants. She enjoys being treated like a princess and would like to be a rock star.
Joey, 11, Kentucky, USA lives with his parents and older sister and often accompanies his father on hunts. He owns two shotguns and a cross bow and made his first kill, a deer, at age seven. He "is hoping to use his crossbow during the next hunting season as he has become tired of using a gun."
Kaya, 4, Tokyo, Japan lives in a small apartment with her parents. All of Kaya’s dresses are made by her mother and she has 30 dresses, coats, pairs of shoes, sandals and boots, and multiple wigs.
Li, 10, Beijing, China lives with her parents in an apartment block. She is a perfectionist and spends up to three hours every night working on her homework, "completing it to the highest standard."
Maria, 12, Mexico City, Mexico lives with her parents and older sister in a three-storied house set around a courtyard and behind security gates. Security is taken very seriously by her family since one of her cousins was kidnapped by a gang.
Nantio, 15, Lisamis, Kenyais is a member of the Rendille tribe and lives with her two brothers and two sisters in a tent-like dome made from cattle hide and plastic which has little room to stand in. She went to the village school for a few years but decided not to continue and is waiting for a "moran" (warrior) to select her for marriage.
Prena, 14, Kathmandu, Nepal works 13-hour days as a domestic worker and earns $6.50 a month. She sleeps in a tiny, cell-like space at the top of her employer's house. She goes to school three times a week and dreams of becoming a doctor.
Rhiannon, 14, Darvel, Scotland lives with her parents and brother in a terraced house in an area with high levels of heroin addiction and gang violence. She and her family have become used to abusive behaviour from people in the neighbourhood. Sporting a mohawk like her parents' ever since she was six, Rhiannon and her family and friends are part of a punk subculture and have formed a community of support where they all look out for each other.
Risa, 15, Kyoto, Japan is a "maiko" which is an apprentice geisha. She sleeps with five other women in a room that doubles as a dining room and a tea room.
Roathy, 8, Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Roathy's home sits on a rubbish dump swarming with flies where he sleeps on a mattress made from old tires. At 6 a.m. every morning, Roathy and hundreds of other children are given a shower and breakfast at a local charity center. Roathy then starts work — scavenging for plastic bottles and cans, which are then sold to a local recycling company. Breakfast is sometimes the only meal of the day.
Ryuta, 10, Tokyo, Japan lives with his parents and younger sister and is a member of the boy scout movement. He is also a champion sumo wrestler and has been competing for seven years.
Where Children Sleep (James Mollison, 2011) draws attention to a child's ‘material and cultural circumstances.’
