I will never forget the time me and my basketball team almost went undefeated for a whole season and almost ended up winning a championship. We were balling out every week of the season doing what we had to do to get a seat in the playoffs. At the time, this was such a big deal because because we had gotten eliminated from the playoffs the previous year. I was also out for a majority of that season with a wrist injury caused by a fight. We had gotten eliminated about 2 weeks after I came back from my injury.

After that loss, My coach started being really hard on us and started making us work extra hard. He had brought in 2 new players that really helped us out big time in the season. They were the best players on the team at the time but I didn’t really like having them on the team because they didn’t pass the ball and because they were always getting into arguments with the referees over some stupid calls which would cause the ref to either prolong the game  or cut it short. We ended up doing really good this season also. Even though we didn’t go undefeated this season,we had made it to the playoffs. During the first round of the playoffs, we swept our opponents. We then did it again in the second round. I was feeling good as a player and we were feeling even better as a team. When the finals came around, we started playing our hearts out, not that we weren’t doing it all season or anything. The whole team was getting buckets until something snapped in the heads of our opponents that made them shut us down .They were able to cut a 10 point lead down to 2 points with 2 minutes left in the game. When we got the ball, our point guard was trying to bring it up the court so we could make it a 4 point lead instead of a 2 point lead but he was fouled on the way up. The ref blew the whistle after the point guard got hit and gave the ball to the other team because he had supposedly stepped out of bounds. You could see the frustration in the coaches eyes and the rest of the team. We were still up by 2 points with about 15 seconds left on the clock. All we had to do was hold on to the ball and milk the clock and we would have won, but one of my teammates was still mad about the call the ref made and began to curse him out and walk around the court in his socks as he continued to insult the ref. The referee decided to stop the game and eliminated us from the finals. Me and my teammates ended up going home empty handed once again.

Blog 7

There’s something about art that has always caught my attention ever since I can remember. Not just any type of  art though, but street art/Graffiti. Growing up in new york city, I have been exposed to these forms of art at a very early age because it can literally be found everywhere around the city. I remember when I used to sit in the back seat of my parents car while they would drive me to elementary  school and I would just be staring out the window as we drive down the highway, looking at all the rooftops covered in graffiti and other art. I was always amazed at how people could write their names with such unique styles in the most unreachable spots around the city. I would look at some tags just sitting a couple hundred feet high on a 10 story building and just think to myself “Damn, how the hell did they get up there and do that”

Even though graffiti is considered a crime, I always looked up and wanted to be like these people who were getting their names up in the most ridiculous places. Graffiti is basically making a name for yourself, also known as a tag name and just making it known but there’s way more to it than just writing a name on a wall. It’s about making your name stand out from all the other graffiti artist around. I started getting more involved with graffiti when I was in middle school. I had met two other kids who also had the same interest as me  when I was in 6th or 7th grade  and they used to take me around the and we would write our tag names on walls with markers and spray paint. I wasn’t hanging off the side of buildings catching tags, but I was out there. I might of been 12 or 13 years old when I really developed a passion for graffiti. I remember when I was in my early teens, me and one of my friends were out walking in a snowstorm at 12 am trying to hit a wall we were looking at for a while and as we started to paint the wall, 2 cop cars rolled by us with their sirens on. Me and my friend threw the cans of paint over a fence and just took off. I had to slow down with the tagging for a few years because one of my friends had gotten arrested shortly after and I wasn’t trying to be next.

Blog 7

A lot of people these days seem to have “Best friends” and that’s cool,  there is absolutely no problem with that. But will those best friends hold you down when you happen to get into a sticky situation where you need a hand or two? I’m pretty sure we probably all have that one person you can call to help you out whenever you need it, but do you know for a fact  that person will keep their word? To sum up what I’m trying to say, people should really watch who they call their friends because friends switch up like the seasons. I'm not trying to say that all friends are bad because I know we all have some good friends, but some friends need to be payed close attention to. I’m only saying this because I once  had a bad experience with a group of people I called my best friends.

I used to call these guys brothers because we were all so close. We all went to different schools growing up but we always chilled with each other outside of school almost all the time. I thought they had my back no matter what and I had theirs because that’s usually how the best friend thing works but I guess I was wrong. When I really needed their help, they all turned their backs and ran and left me to face my problem alone. They could've easily done something to help me when I was in danger but they didn’t. After  this incident, I decided that I wasn’t going to affiliate myself with those people because I felt betrayed. I had to cut them off like Christmas lights in the middle of summer. When I finally saw them a week after the incident, I told them how I didn’t mess with them anymore because they showed me that I couldn’t trust them. They were a little surprised at first and thought I was overreacting  but they weren’t in my place, standing in my shoes, to know how I felt in the moment. I could of lost my life and they were nowhere to be found. This is why I stopped stopped using the term best friend and started selecting my friends more carefully.

My project will be on the dangerous effects of alcohol abuse with college students. I will mainly be focusing on alcohol use in college athletes and how this impacts performance. According to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism college drinking is a significant public health problem. It has been estimated that the average American college student drinks more than 34 gallons of alcohol every year. College is an environment that promotes heavy binge drinking and creates an unsafe scene where this behavior is expected. Binge drinking is more commonly associated with college athletes. This may be because of the short off-seasons and few rest periods during the week. When there is a chance to relax athletes tend to over-indulge. Alcohol abuse is the precursor to various other issues including death, injury, and other social problems. Alcohol abuse leads to many academic problems in college students such as, missing class, falling behind, doing poorly on exams or papers, and receiving lower grades. In athletes these issues can lead to consequences with coaches, the athletic department, and it can decrease overall performance. Alcohol impairs many of the body’s functions that allow an athlete to perform at an optimal level. Alcohol negatively impacts the body’s muscle development and recovery, affects your ability to learn new plays and strategies, and affects an athlete’s nutrition and endurance. Because student athletes are held to a higher standard than regular students at times the consequences of alcohol abuse can have a greater impact on their quality of life. Because of this, it is sometimes hard to find accurate statistics and information because schools and athletes most of the time are not readily willing to admit their failures. They would much rather publicize the accomplishments of their athletes rather than the consequences that had to be administered to punish students who have abused alcohol.

 I think this is a really good topic that a lot more people should know about. It’s not hard to guess that most alcohol abuse takes place on college campuses but I never knew that college athletes are the top abusers. I wonder if it is the same case with any other drugs. I actually knew a few kids who would go their practices drunk. I feel like if you are playing any kind of sport, you shouldn’t be abusing alcohol. I guess you’re right about them using it as an escape because a lot of college athletes can have overwhelming lives at times. I’m looking forward to the final project

  I slept almost until 11 o'clock and I still thought I didn’t have enough sleep. Every day, there is a lot of work to do and I feel I don’t sleep enough every day. I believe everyone has the feeling. Always keep awake until two or three in the morning. I have a friend, he is very busy, almost go to bed every day at three A.M, and in a week, he needs to get up at 5 because he needs to work at 6 in the morning.Why we are not getting enough sleep? Do we really have so many things to do every day? What are we doing every day? Why do we sleep less and less? With these questions, I began to ask my friends. (I only ask them about the weekends, because everyone has different schedules on week days.)   First I asked my boyfriend. He said, he usually get up at 9 in the morning on weekends, and then he spend 30 mins to take a shower, later 9:30 to 10 he needs to  eat the breakfast. And then start playing games from 10 to 11, and then to prepare lunch.  After lunch is his study time. From 12 to 3, he usually writes his homework, and then starts watching movies or TV shows to relax, or if he needs to buy food for the week, about 2 hours. So from 3pm to 5pm is his relaxing time. Starting at 5pm, he needs to perpare the dinner, then eat dinner, probably need to use the last 2 hours. (most of the Chinese food needs to be prepared for at least 1 hours, so every day he needs to spend a lot of time to cook. At the 7pm, he will continue to study and do his homework, he will choose to play games when he needs a rest. He usually go to bed around 12 am, but he used to lie on the bed, watching his phone, so he’s not going to sleep until 1 o'clock somtimes until 2. So I about the statistics, on average (weekends), his daily sleep time is 7 hours, the cooking time is 3.5 hours, the stud time is 6 hours, rest time is 5 hours. Shopping time is 2 hours. Because he doesn’t need to work, so he has plenty of time to relax and rest on the weekend. But from his schedule, it shows that he spend a lot of time on video game and smartphones. This shows that modern technology and the network has become a part of our life, especially in our generation, if the daily life is without a computer, network, smartphones, we will feel that we lost something in our lives, I believe that 99% of people will not not use to live without the network.   And then I asked me another good friend, she and my boyfriend is not the same, she needs to go to work. Every day she sleep 6 hours, 1 hour for a meal, study for 4 hours, 1 hour to take a bath, work 8 hours, the remaining four hours she used to watch movies on the Internet to relax, or play games. Thus, the network has become an inseparable part of the modern people. She is so busy and tired every weekend but she still choose to spend few hours for the internet. So I believe that the Internet is one of the most important reasons that causes us to sleep less and less. Of course I need to do more research to get an answer. My friends around me have given me a lot of help. I will continue to study until I get a more perfect answer.

Sleep deprivation is certainly a problem for college students. There are so many things to do and not enough time to do them. At times I feel burnt out myself, and even when I sleep for a full eight hours I wake up exhausted. Back to your topic though, I thought it was interesting that you brought up smart phones and how that affect how much people sleep. I’ve heard about that myself and I think that in addition to it being a distraction when people should be trying to sleep. I think using a smart phone right before you go to bed alters the brain waves in your brain or something like that. I don’t know what it is exactly but I think you should look into it. I don’t get much sleep myself. Lately, I’ve been finding myself sleeping for 3-4 hours on weekdays, sometimes maybe even 5 if I’m lucky. It’s not because I choose to do it. I feel like my body is so used to going to sleep at a certain time that every night when I go to lay down in my bed, I can’t fall asleep until a certain time frame. After a while it starts to become a habit and locks into  your circadian rhythm. I need to stop doing this though because I wake up in the mornings for class feeling dead and cranky. I think cell phones and other technology are a big factor in this problem. Once you go on your phone and  start browsing through social media right before bed, it’s kind of hard to put the phone down and go to sleep. I think this is a good project topic that many people can relate to.

My project will be based on the effects of food and how food changed over the years. In other words, food today helps make people bigger due to whats in the food. For example, chickens are filled with drugs being pumped into it yearly. Another example of why people aren’t as healthy as they can be is due to processed food. Processed food contains loss of nutrients, bad absorption, salt, lack of real taste, fats (saturated) and the quality isn’t that great. Processed foods will try and display their positive side which actually gives the customer a false idea(100) of what processed foods actually bring. Over a 100 years food nutrients has changed. Our grandparents are actually healthier than we might think. The studies in colorado states that the nutrient density has decreased tremendously of 40-60% over the past 100 years. Recent study also showed that only 11% of americans eat 2 fruits and 3 vegtables everyday. They claim that this unhealthy combination of nutrient poor foods of a open door for disease especially if its used as a lifetime deal. The main question that people need to ask themselves is “this food given/produced by God or (200)is it jus processed by man?” This question is a way of understanding how food has changed over the years. In the past, people killed an animal, cleaned it and then cooked it until it became edible. In today’s food world, our food is processed through test and chemicals. In my project web, I’d have a before and after affect from the difference food had on us today opposed to the food our grandparents ate. This topic can bring up a debate because even back then there were alot of unhealthy people but processed food tends to be everything we (300)eat. We are taught that the food we eat will gives us nutrients everyday and will help us sustain a good living when in reality it’s not true. Everything in today’s society is processed with food coloring, steroids etc. Our grandparents often had gardens and growing things form the ground up with provides healthy nutrients. The food we have now is actually slowly killing us individuals. If we ate food from the ground, the world would be healthier because thats how the food is given to us. It was never processed to being with. Everything we eat and digest now is man made to get money from us who eat it (customers). This can even go deeper than the topic im discussing. For example, people around the world are sick and not saved because of the man made pills thats given. If the people knew that something small as ginger or macaroot was used in people’s diet; they will live longer lives. Everything from the root/ground is good for the body but not anything processsed.

I love this topic. I completely agree with all of the points you have made in your blog and really look forward to seeing your finished project. When I was growing up my parents never fed us things that were frozen or premade. I was also never allowed to have soda or sugary cereal. Although they cooked all of our meals I know you are right about the types of steroids and food dies that are in our food. People think they are eating healthy because that is what the big businesses want the consumers to believe. Everything for them is about money. My dad was just telling me how Tyson wants to start shipping their chicken to China to be processed and then having it shipped back to the States because it is cheaper. I am excited to see your finial project.

I think this is a really good topic. You made a lot of strong points in your blog and they were all pretty interesting.I find it crazy how we live in a world where if we’re hungry, the first thing we usually turn to is fast food or processed foods, and we don’t even realize  it most of the time. When I had a health class back in High school, I was told that most processed foods contain addicting ingredients that keep us coming back.This is a good business move if you’re looking to gain more money but these businesses obviously don’t care about our health.

For My first Project, I will mainly focus on why people like to use and abuse recreational drugs. Recreational drugs are things like Ecstasy,Cocaine,Heroin,Ketamine,LSD,Mushrooms, and Meth. I guess you can also classify Marijuana as a recreational drug as well. Marijuana is actually the most commonly used “Recreational Drug”  in the world, but I’m not about to sit here and write about the pros and cons of smoking some loud or how it should be legalized here in America. A lot of the drugs that I named above are some hardcore drugs and it really blows my mind that some people can actually turn to these drugs as a source of pleasure and enjoyment. A lot of these Drugs can really mess your life up if you continue to use them excessively. I'm surprised about the fact that some of these are considered “Recreational” . People turn to drugs for many reasons. Some of the many reasons why people turn to drugs is because they Either enjoy the feeling that the drug gives them, It makes them feel cool and more social, or because they are going through some hard times and use drugs as an escape. A lot of people try drugs at first just to experiment maybe once or twice, but a lot of people don’t know that these drugs can be highly addictive and highly toxic to your body so what they end up doing is overdosing and dying. College students are known to experiment with all types of crazy drugs so if you ever come across some of these drugs and are thinking about experimenting, you might want to reconsider that. From what I’ve heard, Marijuana is the only “Recreational Drug” that is the least harmful to you and is the only one worth trying. I have people come up to me all the time telling me how marijuana makes them feel so happy and that they love to smoke it because it gives them the munchies afterwards. Some people that I know have also told me that it helps stimulate their mind and when their mind is stimulated off the weed, they can focus better, they feel more inspired, all that good stuff. Don’t get the idea that I’m telling you all of this stuff so you can go out and buy a bag for yourself, but hey if you really want to, i’m not stopping you.

About 6 months ago my sisters had asked my parents if they could get a dog and they were kind of hesitant about it. I was hesitant about the idea to because both of my sisters work and go to school so it would of been really difficult  to take care of a dog. I didn’t really like the idea of getting a new dog because of the fact that i’m away at college and wouldn’t be able to see him a lot. I also felt like getting a new dog would be a way to replace our old dog who died a few years ago. He was a really good dog that didn’t take shit from anyone. He was a very loving and protecting dog but I guess that’s how it goes when you grew up with a dog since you were both babies. Let me get back to the new dog now. So my sisters were able to convince my parents to finally get them a dog and it didn’t turn out how I thought it would. My sisters somehow found a way to take care of the dog. When we first got him I thought it was going to be kind of weird having a new dog around especially with all the responsibilities having a dog comes with but over a period of time I actually started to like having the dog around the house. It was annoying at first because he was always pissing and shitting all over the crib but I taught him the do’s and don’ts of living with me. Before we got this dog, it would be quiet around the house when I would get home. Now every time I Leave the house and come back, I always have an energized puppy waiting to greet me at the door. When I’m home just chilling with nothing to do, he will find a way to keep me occupied. When he’s not running around and jumping on the couch he’s probably on someone's bed sleeping sleeping. I thought he would forget about me because he’s still a puppy and I live away at college but every time I come home for break, He greets me just like he would if I was at home. It’s true what they say about dog being mans best friend. Even though I only had this dog for a short amount of time.

Inventory

What makes a good writer? I believe a good writer must grab the attention of his audience and captivate them through their entire piece to submerge them into what they are reading. As a writer I believe a strength I have is getting my point across to the reader very clearly. I make sure they walk away with a full understanding of what I have written and don’t leave feeling confused. I also believe my pieces are very smooth and free flowing almost as if I am just in conversation with the reader, and lastly I am very good I feel personally at making connections back in my writing being able to tie a lot of my papers together for good conclusions. But obviously no ones perfect especially not me, with my writing I make silly or stupid mistakes usually involving grammar, punctuation, or even sentence structure. Which honestly puts me at a sub par writing level for where I believe I should be at this time in my college career. One topic I enjoy writing about is the evolution of the word race and how it has changed over time and separated towns, states and even countries. Just the fact that a 4 letter word with such little definitional meaning can cause so much damage over time. A few things I enjoy to do in my free time consist of working out, running, playing or training for football, having bonfires, going out on the boat going for a bike ride, or just relaxing and watching college or professional football. Ultimately, I loving being outdoors and being active, just the freedom you can have mentally by being physically active and living a healthy lifestyle is just an unbelievable feeling. Throughout this semester i’m looking to improve and come as close to perfecting my writing as possible. I’m looking to clean up my sentences improve and cut down on simple mistakes and become more formal and respectable in my addresses. I want to be able to walk out of this class and be able to walk into the job market feeling confident in what I can bring to the table at a respective place of employment that will help me in my career endeavours for the future. I will hopefully achieve this by using the tools and resources i’m provided with by you to better understand how to better myself in this field using things such as the book and your constructive criticism to not only get through the class but to prepare myself for the next task that lies ahead. The most important part though is that you do give me the constructive criticism necessary to push me to improve in these areas I have addressed need improvement and even other areas you believe I need improvement in that I don’t see myself. Also to show me maybe what I did wrong specifically and how or what I can do next time to fix the mistakes I have made to improve each and every time in my writing.

From what I can see just by reading your blog, your writing skills are good and consistent. Your sentences flow together really well, and you make an effort to keep your reader engaged. I mean this sincerely. As for grammar, I can understand how that can be a challenge, because the English language is filled with so many ridiculous little rules about punctuation and grammar that it can throw even the most capable writer off. However, the most important thing is  you’ve mastered the most crucial part of writing, and that is keeping your audience engaged. I can understand how grammar would be a concern for you, and if you’re interested I can help you out. I have been editing essays and other works for years, and if you want to bring something to me to look over I’d be happy to help.

I agree with the fact that a good writer has to have the ability to grab the readers attention and captivate them throughout the entire piece. From a readers perspective, it can be really hard to stay focused when reading an essay if it is not captivating and intriguing. I personally think I have the ability to write a captivating essay but I always have trouble getting started. Based off of this blog, i can tell that you are probably a really good writer. So You’re the One That was Blasting J.Cole at 10 am???

If you couldn’t tell from my last blog, or the title of this one, I love rap music. I know that this may seem unusual coming from a white girl, but rap has always been a major part of my life. This goes way back to when I was in elementary school when I first heard Eminem’s album Encore. Ever since then, I have grown to appreciate a variety of different rappers over the years including Kanye, Drake, Schoolboy Q, Odd Future, The Roots, A$AP Ferg, and Logic. I listen to all of those guys regularly, but if I were to tell you my top three favorites they would be Chance the Rapper, Kendrick Lamar, and J.Cole. 

Another thing that is note-worthy about my life-long obsession with rap is that I go beyond just listening to it. I also enjoy reading about, writing about it, watching interviews, and most of all talking about it. Since I do like writing about it, you can expect hip hop will be a common topic for my future blogs, although I promise I will have some variety so every single one doesn’t look like a Complex article.

Besides rap, another favorite pastime of mine is playing pool. This is something I have taken up more recently and I don’t geek out over nearly as much as I do with rap. The only reason why I took it up in the first place was to have something to do when I was living in my old dorm during my freshman year. 

On the floor I lived on, we had a lounge and the only source of entertainment in that lounge was a pool table. First of all, I should say that this pool table was the nastiest, most ghetto thing I had ever seen. Its felt top was covered in stains, the balls were chipped, the cues were broken, and worst of all the table was on a lean, so all the balls would roll to one side. It was on this atrocity where I learned to play pool, and to be honest it wasn’t all that bad. In fact, I figured that if I were to learn to play well on this shitty table, then what can stop me from playing well on a good one?

I would have to say the best thing to come out of all of those games I played on Porter’s struggle table was meeting new people and also discovering how much of a great stress-reliever pool is. Whenever I would play a game, I wouldn’t think of my classes or anything else that was on my mind. All I would be thinking about is how I was going to beat my opponent, and everything else melted away for the entire twenty or thirty minute duration. It made me understand the importance of taking a small break from reality everyday.

I love that you have such a passion for things. I personally do not turn on rap when I listen to music, but when it’s on I do enjoy it. I think it’s interesting to really listen to the lyrics instead of just the beat of the song. If I were to name a rapper that I admired, like you, it would be Eminem. I feel that all of his lyrics have great content and tell interesting stories. I see rap as another form of poetry and something that really revolutionized music. I am really bad at pool so I don’t think I would be a very good component, but maybe you could teach me! I found your blog really interesting and look forward to reading more of your posts!

First things first, I really like your taste in music. J.Cole happens to be one of my favorite artist and has been since I was in the 8th grade. He’s one of the few rappers that can actually paint a picture in my mind with his lyrics. It’s kind of rare that I bump into an A$AP FERG fan but kind of cool at the same time because i fucks with his music lol. you must be a real hip hop head if you know who The Roots are. I’ve been listening to rap music/hip hop  since i came out the womb.I actually enjoyed reading this post.

I feel that all of his lyrics have great content and tell interesting stories. I see rap as another form of poetry and something that really revolutionized music. I am really bad at pool so I don’t think I would be a very good component, but maybe you could teach me! I found your blog really interesting and look forward to reading more of your posts!

The difference between High school and college

Its crazy to think that I am over a year out of school. Everything is happening so fast. Its as if my life is flashing before my eyes. Things here in college is a lot different from back in high school. The one big difference that I notice is the independence. I no longer have people climbing all over my back, telling me to do things. I must get everything done on my own. I dont have my parents with me pushing or forcing me to get my work done. coming to college, I had to learn how to use my time management wisely. I had to learn how to use this not only because of education but also because of the fact that I am a student athlete. last year as a freshman here at Buffalo State I had a hard time managing my time but now that I have experience I am a lot better at it. Anther huge difference between high school and college is the teachers/professors. Teachers in high school were a lot more strict. It was their way or the highway. things had to get done in a certain manner or order, and I felt that You had to learn in a certain way in high school that some students may not be accustomed to. In college the teachers are a lot more open minded when it come to situations of that nature. I feel like in college, you are free to learn in whichever way you choose. teachers in college allow their students to be a lot more free in many ways. most college teachers wont be hard on you because you are expected to get the work done. they understand that we are all young adults and that there should be no excuses as to why work is not being done. In High school I feel that everything is handed to you. People guide you to success your success. In college that is the complete opposite. you must go out get get everything on your own. you wont have an academic  adviser hounding over you telling you to keep up with certain things. Everything must be done independently. In high school I was fortunate enough to have football coaches and teachers care about me enough to do what ever it takes for me to pass and move on. In college our not going to have a teacher follow your every step. That is what I have learned over the course of my time here at Buffalo state college.

I agree with you completely about things being a lot different back in high school compared to college. I also had people climbing on my back telling me what to do and when to do it. It was pretty annoying but I kind of miss it at times.Now that I’m in college, I don’t really have people telling me what to do or people to rely on when i need help. But that comes with growing up bro. As We get older, we have to learn how to go out and get it on our own by any means necessary because nobody is going to to it for you. If you want something done and done the right way, you have to do it yourself.

I think it’s pretty cool that you are always jokey and fun to be with.  I tend to be a serious person myself but I also like to joke around and have fun because it’s something i don’t get to do much. This is something I am trying to change about myself.  I believe that being comfortable with everything that you do is a very important factor of happiness  and success. I have to agree with you on what you said about liars and them wasting your time. I personally hate to have my time wasted because time is money and time being wasted is like money being wasted to me.

High School V.S. College

When it comes to High school and college,there are many differences and many similarities between the two. In High school, classes usually start around 8:30 or 9:00 am and don’t end until around 3:00 pm. In college, your classes can literally start at any time of the day and can run up to 3 hours long. When I was back in High School, I would have about 5 or 6 classes in one day, every day of the week and they would each run for about 45 minutes to an hour. Now that i’m in college, i have about 2 or maybe 3 classes a day. There are some days that I don’t have class at all. Back when I was in High School, I couldn’t really pick and choose what classes I wanted to take like I am able to do in college. One thing that I really miss about High School is that you could come into class a few minutes late after it started and not get bitched at by the teachers because they usually let it slide. In college, if you come to class 5 minutes late, you might not find a seat, you might hear it from your professor, and you might get some points taken from your final grade. Some professors might even tell you to just leave the class and go back home if you come 3 minutes late. I was 15 minutes late to my first class of freshman year because the dorm building that I was living in was on one end of campus and the building that I had class in was 10 minutes away and I had no idea how to get there. When I finally got to the class, every seat was taken and I had nowhere to sit so I just stood up by the windows in the back of the class for the whole class period. Ever since that day I try to give myself at least 10 mins to walk to my classes. I’ve had some pretty strict teachers when I was in High School and I also had some pretty teachers. Using my cellphone in class when I was a High school student was a big deal but not as much as it is in college. Back In High school, if I was caught using my phone in class my teachers would just give me a look and tell me to put it away or they might confiscate it and give it back to me at the end of the day. In college, If you get caught using a phone in class, the professor might humiliate you in front of the whole class and kick you out. I know this because it has happened to me in my freshman year of college. I pulled out my phone to check the time and my professor told me to leave the class in front off 100 students. I felt kind of embarrassed but I learned from my mistakes.
