It's my 15 year anniversary on Tumblr 🥳

A little reflection on turning 35 tomorrow. I am an only child of two immigrants from Peru. On my mother’s side, I come from a big family, they have been my village for as long as I can remember. I love each and every one of them with all my heart. I am deeply grateful for the life and opportunities I’ve been given, but there is a quiet sadness in knowing I can’t thank everyone who helped make them possible. My tía abuela Cathy, my grandfather’s baby sister, had the courage to come to a country where she didn’t know the language. She worked as part of a cleaning crew and when she wasn’t working, she took English as a Second Language classes. That’s where she met my tío abuelo Giovanni, aka Uncle John. It was because of them their love and their labor that my grandfather was able to come to this country. My great aunt, great uncle, and my grandfather are no longer here. But I carry them with me.

I miss them.

Happy 64th birthday, Daddy.

Another birthday without you, and we miss you more than words can say.We wish you were here to see and hear the funny things the kids say. Manu is reaching that age where his questions come so often, and answering them without tears is getting harder. He notices other children with their grandpas, and his sadness breaks my heart. I do my best to keep your memory alive every day. Until we meet again, Dad.

Thoughts on 33

What year it has been.

So far best year of my early 30s. Ive learned so much and I can't wait to see what this new year will bring. I'm so blessed to have my family and friends by my side. This past weekend has been so much fun. I can't wait for this upcoming weekend to continue more of the celebration.
