I recently read an article about a therapy group for depressed people who had all attempted suicide at some point. The breakthrough question for them was, “If your goal was to be just as miserable as possible, what would you do?” Most of them listed things like not getting enough sleep, or isolating themselves from everyone… the list goes on, but the point is, they listed things they already do. But now they saw those “coping mechanisms” for what they really were: things that were actively making their condition worse.
I read that article at 2:00 AM, asked myself, am I TRYING to be miserable tomorrow? And it was easier than usual to put my phone down and fall asleep. Even my intrusive “lying down” thoughts about meaninglessness and existential dread were easier to suppress when I framed them as things I’d think about to purposefully make myself feel as awful as possible.
Fuck that is helpful
Gotta keep ourselves clean and fresh

I’ve been meaning to make a whole professional-looking “now’s the time to start growing food!” post for a good few days but honestly this situation isn’t doing good things for my mental health and it just feels exhausting. But anything is better than nothing so here’s a quick summary:
We don’t know how long this situation is going to last or how existing infrastructure will cope with it as time goes on. Regardless of what happens, having extra fresh food to share with your neighbors will absolutely be important going forward. If you’ve ever wanted to grow food, you should do it now
Gardeners are thinning their seedlings and trying to distribute their extra seeds as we speak, and they’ll be thrilled to share if you want to get started. I’ve been doing this myself, giving away seedlings as much as I can. Talk to your friends, look up local gardening groups, visit the house in your neighborhood with veggies growing in the front, whatever. My local mutual aid list even has a urban farming tab for these kinds of offers and requests, with lots of gardeners and local farms offering seeds, advice, even labor. Check your local group, and put a call out asking for them - you might get some offers!
You can also grow certain veggies from food scraps you might already have around. And needless to say, you can save the seeds from your produce as well
You should also start composting ASAP. I made a post recently with a dead-simple guide to get started - it’s not nearly as hard as you’ve heard, it doesn’t take any skill, special materials, or really much care. There are also resources in that link for getting your organic materials to others who are already composting, if you don’t have the space to do it yourself
I have a whole tag full of gardening resources. There’s soooo much in there. And if you need any more help getting started and don’t have any local connections, DM me and I’ll be happy to answer your questions
Please reblog! It’s vital that we get as many people as possible growing food right now!

Hey, it’s Jun Noire and my birth month is coming up in just about a week!
I want to thank everyone who’s been with me for the past few months and pitched in to help with my debts, it really eases the mind.
Last March 12th, I had a promising job interview, but there were no follow-ups since the quarantine started March 16th, and that meant a lot of establishments and workplaces had to stop office. Like everyone else, the whole quarantine set my mind into survival mode, which meant I had to focus on taking care of myself and my parents, who I currently live with now since they’re in their senior year and could use help.
With workplaces closing off during the quarantine, that meant that there was no steady cashflow and a lot of companies were also laying off, so I’m now turning to microtasking and commissions.
I know I should’ve done this sooner, but I let the the fact that both the bank and the loap app extending the due dates get ahead of me.
Long story short, we need about $200 for groceries and utilities as soon as possible, and as late as April 26th.
I’m also due to pay $151( Php7,647.16 ) by May 13th, so it would be great if I can get that done as well!

GoGetFunding for groceries (ends April 26th!)
I’m currently asking through Ko-Fi or GoGetFunding since I have security concerns with putting out my Paypal openly nowadays. If you’re a resident of the Philippines, I can accept payments through Gcash and Coins.ph. I’ve yet to set up a PayMaya account!
Note: My country doesn’t have Venmo or CashApp, sorry.
If you can’t commission or donate anything, reblogs are highly appreciated!
UPDATE AS OF APRIL 23RD
Received an email about my debt. Turns out I have to pay Php14,300/$282 by May 11, 2020. Updated the proof of debts and kept a copy of the original file as well.
I will need to work hard on my commissions as well as keep everyone updated until everything’s paid off!
I’ve also updated my groceries fundraiser page since it wasn’t live when I posted it!
I might also start another page for my debts if needed!
