Can we please not romanticize what happened to Goo Hara? She’s not “with Sulli” now, she’s gone and it’s heartbreaking. It’s unbearable that it seems to have become a regular thing now for idols to die of suicide. Goo Hara died one month after her best friend. Whether or not that’s true, many people interpret their deaths as connected, as Hara following Sulli. Don’t tell people she succeeded. There’s nothing good about this, it’s endlessly sad and the K-pop industry needs to change. Comfort each other but don’t make light of it.

hara's harassment started six years ago in 2013. she was ganged up on by a bunch of mcs on radio star for...dating. she was called an "idol bus" for dating ONE person. then as she visibly got upset, they kept going. kyuhyun even said "if i open my mouth, hara would be over" and she pushed a water bottle and cried. and the results? were kyuhyun, yoon jongshin, jim kukjin, and kim gura reprimanded for this? a little...but hara was made the villain. she was bullied and harassed online for having emotions. people attacked her nonstop after that and hated her with such vitrol. even after kyuhyun expressed regret for what he did and apologized, hara was hated. then she's assaulted and abused by her ex choi jongbum, and she defends herself during the attack and is fucking arrested too. he threatens to release their sex tape and what fucking happens? the media takes his side, protects him, and people attack hara. how dare she be assaulted, how dare she scratch him, we wanna see the video. they mocked her suicide attempt. and now...hara is gone. and now they'll pretend to care. they'll point fingers and blame others. reporters will blame this on the industry. fans will say to be kind. and in two or three days? it'll all be back to normal.

Sulli is another example of SM's failure to protect their idols. Sulli and Jonghyun were both relentlessly ridiculed by the Korean public for simply breathing but SM never stepped in to put an end to it. and like honestly? i have anorexia but this is why i constantly talk about the dangers of the “health and fitness” industry and diet culture bc we have essentially normalized certain symptoms of disordered eating but it’s ok if it’s under the guise of health i guess???

like how is calling it “clean” eating NOT a way to moralize food

how is intermittent fasting NOT the same thing as skipping meals

how come when i buy clothes that don’t fit, it’s something i have to tell my therapist about because it means i am putting pressure on myself to fit into them, but if a “normal” person does it then it’s just motivation for them?

and more importantly when are we going to start acknowledging that the entire world is pro-ana but that’s too harsh of a description so we slap some health buzzwords on it to make it palatable

when are we going to take responsibility for encouraging disordered behavior instead of labeling those of us with EDs as the crazy/imbalanced ones

so we get there around 4:30

we check in n shit
