mangrove forests are SUCH an important ecosystem on our little blue planet 🩵 they’re carbon sinks, meaning they reduce the levels of greenhouse gases by pulling CO2 out of the atmosphere and storing it. habitats like these can store hundreds to thousands of years worth of carbon, which is a big reason why their removal would be so detrimental to climate change. mangrove forests also host a wide diversity of species (cool birds and bugs and rabbits and shrimp!!!! and everything else!!!!!), improve the local soil and water quality, AND slow down costal erosion! wow what can’t they do

nearly 50% of our mangrove forests are in danger of collapse. if you’d like to contribute to their conservation, please donate or volunteer to a local group or donate to the Mangrove Action Project 🩵

i like thinking of daisy as fem because i’m sick of the idea of tough+cop+female=butch. i also like thinking of basira as fem because i think brown women are multifaceted and deserve to be capable and strong willed without that removing their femininity. thank you and goodnight

I definitely think of Basira as fem but I feel like Daisy, even though she wishes she could be seen as feminine (I swear she actually says something along those lines in her statement when she talks about her scar reminding her of something kinder than she currently is), is trapped in the masculinity of her appearance unable to properly express her true self due to her life being fully controlled/consumed by the hunt.

Maybe when she is partially released from the hunt's control after the coffin she is able to regain the femininity she always wanted idk

I also agree with the headcanon of Daisy becoming more fem after the coffin, however I tend to add ANOTHER layer of angst lol.

Having longer hair is traditionally quite feminine, and I draw pre-coffin daisy with medium - long hair. (Medium length at the start but it grows out)

But because of her time in the coffin she feels the need to cut her hair. She cant stand the idea of it getting stuck on something, as it often did on the tight corners of the buried.

Like you, I imagine she tries to embrace her femininity as she starts to try and regain control, but she feels like she'll never be able to fully embrace it because she only feels comfortable when her hair is short.
