The Eight House represents sexuality, taboos, death, rebirth , transformations, hidden emotions, taxes , inheritance , or karmic lessons that we need to learn , secrets and obsessions .

Aries in the 8th House : With Aries you're likely to transform through confronting and standing up for yourself , karmic lessons include thinking instinctively , you may rush into matters due to your forty nature . You push yourself to do the things your way. Open about their sexuality and probably dominant , highly ambitious. Obsessed being on top.

Taurus in the 8th House : With Taurus you're likely to transform through investing and being persistent in what you want. Most likely struggle with changes or anything that it's out of their comfort zone . With this placement I would say they are sensual when it comes to sexuality and possessive. Obsessed with anything that won't abandon them ( their tendency to attach to material things)

Egyptian Ornament in The Coloured Ornament of All Historical Styles 

Today we are featuring Egyptian decorative plates from The Coloured Ornament of All Historical Styles, Part I: Antiquity by Alexander Speltz, published in Leipzig, Germany in 1915 by Baumgärtner. The multi volume portfolio was produced with three color and four color printing based on Speltz’s original watercolor paintings.

In a preface to the Part I, Spetz wrote:

“In accomplishing this work special attention has been paid to the possibility of easily finding the text belonging to each figure, and to a classification according to the chronology of art history and archeology, for this work is not merely intended to be a standard for the polychromatic ornament, but also a resource for the study of history of art and archaeology.

If this work, whose first part herewith published and whose further parts Medieval Period, Renaissance, and Rococo Style, Classicism will follow as soon as possible, contributes to revive that sense of colours lost in this our prosaic time and helps to restore to our generation that delightful rejoicing in beautiful forms and colours, the writer’s end has been achieved.”

Sour Cream and Honey Cake

Ingredients: 2 cups whole wheat flour 1 teaspoon baking soda ½ teaspoon salt ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon ¼ cup butter ¾ cup raisins 5 fluid ounces sour cream 3/8 cup honey

Preheat oven to 400º F. Mix flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon together. Rub in the butter with your fingertips. Toss in the raisins. Make a well in the center of the mixture and pour in the sour cream and honey. Mix it all up to make dough. Flour a baking sheet and roll the dough out in a rectangle until it is ¾ of an inch thick. Bake it for 12-15 minutes. Cool on a wire rack, and then cut into squares as desired. NOTE: The non-standard measurement of “5 fluid ounces” of sour cream is a little tough to estimate. If you cannot find a container that measures fluid ounces, just add the honey in the well, mix it up, and then throw in maybe a fourth of a cup of sour cream, mixing until doughy. Add more sour cream until it feels like it can be rolled out without sticking. It won’t be much more. When I made this I left out the cinnamon (I’m allergic) and left out the raisins (don’t much like them in bread). It came out fine with these variations. Yield: 1 rectangular cake (about 9 x 13); serving size varies.

Lavender Faery Wine for Imbolc

Ingredients: 1 cup of milk per serving. 1 tsp honey ¼ tsp of vanilla extract ½ a cup of brewed lavender tea Lavender buds or cinnamon Steep lavender buds or any lavender tea in ½ a cup of hot water. The more tea leaves or buds you use, the stronger the lavender taste will be. Warm a cup milk on the stove; be careful not to boil or else it’ll froth up and make a mess. Once warmed, pour in the tea, honey, and vanilla extract. Serve in a teacup and sprinkle lavender buds or cinnamon on top.
