got a heart locket at the thrift today and none of the other prints were small enough to fit besides these. so uh fitzier locketâŠ..
these two are so dundy and james to meâŠ. jfj pretty boy rockstar and dundy his partner in crime heartthrob guitarist who may or may not have kissed a few timesâŠ.
man these spot the difference games are getting harder and harder
saw this cat on pinterest and went âwaitâŠ. she looks familiarâŠâ like tell me thatâs not james as a cat
high as hell and canât stop thinking about francis and jamesâ 17 year age gap. i just know jamesâ brain starts making dial up noises any time francis mentioned something from his early sailing days.
francis, lighting a cigarette: when i went on my first expedition to find the Passage you were 8. isnât that weird
james, so dizzy he canât stand straight: can yuo put that out. on me
so the little self-indulgent fitzier one-shot i posted earlier is getting way more love than i expected.... you guys are so sweet, i'm so glad y'all like it !!! i've had a few people request a follow-up or a sequel and i promise i'm working on it!!
in the meantime.... here's some messy art of our beloved Jamie ! the dress is slightly different bc i have no idea how to bring the jellyfish-like ruffles to life, i apologize :P
thank you again for the love on Red Wine Supernova, it really does mean the world <3
posted a fic for the first time in a WHILE :D
2.6k of modern au fitzier. francis sees jamie in a dress for the first time and gets so excited he almost passes out. hereâs the link
âthe end of vanity.â
finished this lil altered screencap redraw while at work today :D added a little color and features matching jamieâs physical showings of scurvy
this scene has always stuck with me. not only is it a breaking point of his âmaskâ (perfection/pride/identity/what say you) and his true realization of his health, but the imagery of blood dripping onto the feminine masque after the scene of him holding up a dress to himself and smilingâŠ. oh dave k how i love you. jamie fitzjames you will forever be special.
some WIP screencap sketches from recentlyâŠ..
when i say recently i really mean that i did the first in like 20 minutes while watching tv just now and the second iâve been working on here and there for about a month now đ
I know this is old discourse, but the way that duty has to be put before emotion in the Terror is so tragic.
The Lieutenants having to put their feelings aside and use Irving's body as evidence. Gore, clearly well-loved, never getting a proper send off because Franklin died so soon after. The whole crew having to push on after the deaths at Carnivale, and the massacre after the failed hangings, without catching their breath.
The weâll mourn when itâs over of it all, but they never did because it never was. Not until it was their turn.
Fitzier is the true bespoke enemies to...homoerotic friends(?) dynamic, because they are not simply rivals who, over time, learn that there is more to one another than they previously gave credit for. Neither is theirs merely a story of becoming a better person in the process.
But rather they push one another to be better. Without finesse or care for one another's feelings or even any real care for one another at all, but they are complements, oneâs weakness is where the other's strength lies, and my God will they not let one another get away with falling short.
What else do you require? Respect? Well earn it. And more. That scene where people slide the door closed on James screaming at Francis in the immediate aftermath of the punch has James yelling we both know what's happening here re Francisâs alcoholism. And according to the script for how that conversation goes, one of Francisâs retorts is that James has no friends, only admirers.
Ultimately of course the decision to change and the follow thru lies with each man. But what a fascinating, marvellous thing to have a rival who not only tells you that you are shit (Sir John did that plenty to Francis too after all) but who is driven by an ironclad belief that you canâand shouldâbe better. No wonder then the sheer depth of friendship between them, once they do rise to the occasion.
something that is haunting me recently is the difference between fitzjames and crozierâs reactions to losing sir john. yes, obviously, some moments are at play like personal dynamics and relationships, as well as crozierâs âsoberness.â but this goes deeper than fitzjames losing a friend and crozier being a âgood captain.â theyâre two halves of a whole with their reactions and this is one of the many examples of why the dynamics created between characters in the show continues to amaze me.
crozierâs first reaction is to immediately get his men in check and to safety, while james mourns and processes that they just lost their captain, he just lost a friend. this is jamesâ first polar expedition, so heâs personally unfamiliar with the danger of the arctic, but he has seen death and loss in great amounts in the war. he knows what itâs like to lose someone, but this is different. this loss was unprecedented in many ways: sudden and bloody and violent, but itâs different than war. heâs young compared to the others in command, he has a more âhumanâ reaction. we see him try to rescue sir john, pointing and saying âheâs just thereâ and trying to climb in himself to reach. tears are freezing to his face as he weeps. he pleads. he yells. he never fully recovers. this breaks him. loss changes a lot for a man who is already on the verge of losing his mind.
francis, on the other hand, jumps into action. commands his men with the voice of someone who knows what to do, protects them. he even physically turns away from fitzjames trying to crawl into the hole after sir john. he does not give himself room to mourn. sir john had wronged him, he may have even held resentment for him after their last encounter, but he was still part of the franklin family. i think he recognizes this with his comment, âi never wanted anything as little as i want this now.â he both means the new seat of command as well as his captain dead in the most horrifying way. he slips deeper into his addiction before sobering up. this is what makes him a good captain.
theyâre easily seen as opposites, especially with crozierâs stern demeanor in the great cabin scene vs fitzjamesâ break down. crozier is entirely serious, plain yet clearly exhausted. fitzjamesâ face is shriveled with tears, he pleads at crozier in frustration: âdo you not feel what has happened?â rather opposites, i think they are mirrors of each other. i think they balance each other in their reactions; one needs to mourn for the other, who takes over command. james mourns enough for the both of them, francis takes the load of command and responsibility. not because they can, because they must.
toured a large on-going forensic archaeology project yesterday w my bestie as a part of our job/studies and afterwards we got to do a little work on some of the human remains uncovered. could not stop thinking of the crews of the Erebus and Terror and the identification process, how this person was alive and living just a few hundred years ago. held his mandible to examine teeth condition and thought of James Fitzjames and the identification of mandible NgLj-2:226. itâs so crazy to me that these bones were once a living, walking human and now we get to help them rest fully.
eve and tom updateâŠ.. we are four days in and already on eve and tom 2.0. was packing my dorm up and accidentally sat a book down onto eve and pressed the reset button (once again, these are SO bad) (funnily enough, the book was Ice Ghosts by Paul Watson⊠talk about irony). @lakylla later revealed to me that they also accidentally reset theirs đ
also, the only two things that they do is need the bathroom, and sometimes an Evil Guy comes in and you have to give them medicine. but itâs the concept that keeps us going
bought shitty little tamagotchi knockoffs at the dollar store with @lakylla and of course we had to choose the ships. meet tom (hms terror, red, lakyllaâs) and eve (hms erebus, blue, mine) (they had predetermined names we had to choose from)
will update about them throughout the summer but weâll be apart and have no idea if theyâll survive đ
saw this meme on twt and had to make a terror version. came to me in a dream
itching to watch another miniseries (preferably) but am looking for such specific vibes. my favs are midnight mass, the terror, chernobyl, masters of the air- u get it
if anyone has any recs pleaseeee tell me đ«¶đ
