But in his mind he is like:

“Wait Rin, I’m saving you”

“This kid... attacked by snakes and miasma, stupid”

“Stupid half-brother, you are so weak”

This scene is not supposed to be funny, but the way that Sesshomaru is drawn makes it look like he is questioning every life choice that has led him to this moment, stuck knee-deep in a pile of guts and being yelled at by two inferior life-forms, one of whom is not even in his Circle of Tolerance.

Should have stayed home with Mother, his eyes are saying. Should have gone to youkai college like she’d wanted and become an accountant, gotten a little respect for once. God fucking dammit.

This man cannot catch a break and so long as I live I will make sure it stays that way

Something I found nice about the chapter "Since Then" is this part: Sesshomaru was close to Kohaku when he meets Ne no Kubi and helps him to recognize which youkai it is. It is a small fragment, but I do not think it is a coincidence. In a way, this tells us that Sesshomaru still cares for Kohaku and stays close to help him if he needs it. Because Kohaku, like Rin, is still a child, (even look at how young he looks next to Sesshomaru). Many SessRiners seem to conveniently forget this part and say that Sesshoumaru was there just to protect Rin, but I think that is not entirely true. He was also there for Kohaku (he even comes to the village with him). I think Sesshoumaru was there to protect his TWO adopted children/ward haha (and the other children in that place)

I agree,Indee Sesshomaru showed preference for Ri. However, let’s not forget that Kohaku was with them for very long time, and Sesshomaru didn’t attacked him, tried to make Kohaku left the group or abandomn him. When Kohaku was in danger, he helped him... Being a pure demon who is not interested in human, he could just let him die when attacked. 

With his interactions with Rin and Kohaku, we can see that Sesshomaru developed feelings (familiar/frienship/team) for those two kids.

I’ve always thought this moment was so cute. InuYasha just holding Kagome’s face and genuinely concerned about her well-being (after she was knocked unconscious, but very much alive).

But then you watch the Rin death’s episode, where Sesshomaru a pure demon is crying of sandness (through Jaken) because this cute, little girl has dead and he can do nothing but watch her :’(

I’m still thinking about the composition of this. The guiding lines leading towards the trophy/empty seat. The blue rimlight contrasted with the orange lighting, indicating subtle somberness. The Gucci jacket, symbolizing how money can’t buy you love. The drama of it!
