Yo, here to ruin the mood.
This chapter was greatly underwhelming. I’m sure a lot of ppl were expecting more from the year long wait.
Feel like everyone’s got such a samey dressing sense these days in 19 days :D. But this is from before, I guess.. yet again, everyone is wearing very unremarkable clothes, apart from Mo, he’s very edgy and alternative, with his piercings and skull top. :D
But whites, beiges, blacks and greys..The only colourful thrill is the backgrounds.. Tones and elegance. Very clean and…also, boring.
Why call Yi out on pretending, if he’s already planning on taking him to bed anyway.. Xi doesn’t like communicating openly. It’s almost like he’s dealing with JianYi here, he looks like he’d be more comfortable with some privacy/alone time..
Xi seems tired of Yi’s energy here. Could be, after a night out, he’s simply drained. But JianYi is a lot sometimes. He’s loud and moany..and a bit of an annoying drunk..
Feel like here it’s really pronounced. Their energies. Xi is the “not to be bothered” husband that deals with everything in efficient neat manner, no need to talk, he’s got it. Yi is the loud overly emotional overdramatic wifey, calling the shots, getting in trouble, taunting the wrong people, all that fire..
And they like it that way..clearly. But it’s another set stereotype borrowed. A lot of personalities crossing from pair to pair.. Thinking of JianYi’s parents..same energy.. Again, a little bit bored..their characters are getting slowly fleshed out more and more, and one would expect a growth and a bit of unexpected shifts, especially since this is the future. Yet it always just settles like a mud on a bottom of a lake with these two.
Funny how JianYi just proves what I mentioned. He’s always the one initiating, stirring stuff up, asking ZhanXi whether he wants to “try it”.. and the one time he believes Xi is actually doing something like that, he backs out. :D Also, saint Xi, we know you would never…yeah, never..
He Tian here..I’m split. Yes, any good companion would take you home, being this drunk, but also, what’s with him asking Mo to stop drinking all the time. No, not asking actually. Telling.
:D Maybe dude just wants to get smashed, he’s obviously full of his little complex emotions cuz of your return, stop fucking with his vibe..
I guess it’s okay, since they know, or used to know each other, but do they now?.. I mean, they changed in the meantime, picked up new likes..hobbies..whatever..
And out of nowhere he returns, and automatically assumes that Mo would want him to drive him away to some apartment again.. When Mo did not feel comfortable with being physically close with He Tian
didn’t wanna listen to his confessions or to have him come to the drinking do.
This is after a long time, and Mo doesn’t even know who’s carrying him, he’s so pissed, what if his opinion on He Tian changed?.. I mean, he is drunk..no inhibitions make the real feelings come out.. He Tian just naturally gets to take him away agaiiin, like some bear taking a little rabbit to his den :D :D.. and takes “care of him”, because it’s his decision to take care of him. He owns Mo. No matter how much time passed?..
Hypothetically (cuz Mo is a virgin anyhow), what if Mo found someone, didn’t feel like telling He Tian, and something happens while he’s drunk.
Just thinking about this scenario, and how wrong it sounds to me. But Im sure the fandom will find a white knight charm to it too..:D So, still making decisions for Mo, and dragging him off (sorry, sorry, carrying gently)..
I mean wtf is that buzzcut “friend” of Mo’s even doing just letting that happen? Neither of them really know He Tian and who he became while away…
He should be able to take care of Mo as a friend, :D surely he’s been around to know better. Mo is notorious for (being made to) playing a little distressed bitch to everyone.
Also, lol at Tian being chauffeured around in Rolls-Royce (?)..security guards and all..:D Nice. How is this guy ever gonna be his own man? Not self made. At all. Daddy’s boy..
I feel like that just is who He Tian is. It’s his character, it’s what makes him so arrogant and callous and self-sure. You either like that about him or no..
A rich boy becoming a rich man. Destiny anyway once you’re born into money, but I hoped he’d take his school phase rebellion (and the amount of shit he gave He Cheng growing up) seriously and try another way… It was pathetic to watch him weep when He Cheng cut him off that time, and yet… Guess we don’t know what business is he trying to establish.. Just don’t think you get bodyguards with a new startup as a welcome package. :D
Trying to think what does Mo mean by calling Tian a hypocrite. Could it be the whole “I hate my family so much, I’ll never be like my big bro, I’ll find a way to make money for us on my own, I promise, Mo……anywaaay, I gotta go now, my fam got sum shit goin, Mo, see ya laters..in couple years..wait for me, bby. I wanna be your first, aight?” :D :D
I mentioned this before, how we get a lot of mixed ideas.. Mo being dependent on He Tian/ enjoying He Tian’s money, then Mo making his own way (working part time, and also working now..), then Mo always refusing He Tian’s “help”, but always accepting his material gifts. and there were so many.. Even the latest official art, that was weird :D..
So, it’s like, they’re both promising all the time to make it on their own (and Mo clearly is trying to pave his own way), yet are very seduced by money that’s not theirs…Feels like He Tian will try to make him come live with him, cuz that tiny box apartment..
Eventually he will just like to be taken care of.. Nothing wrong with that, why work so hard when you could just play..but again..the character development will slide..
Like, yeah, Mo missed him too, but the difference is here.. He Tian is sober-ish? Mo is not. He is drunk and emotional, sobbing and overwhelmed. Sat on his lap all hot and bothered..It’s just..yeah, we can assume he really wants this too..but then why make him so nearly-black-out drunk..
It’s a bit weird that these christmas chapters have to have both JianYi and Mo drunk for shit to be able to move on :D.
Also, can I just say, when He Tian whips out the box of condoms, and Mo does not know there are rings in there at that point, he doesn’t even question it. He is either that drunk, or somehow in the span of one evening changed his grudgey emotions into a need for loss of virginity. :D
I found the rings to be a bit of waste.. We all saw them before, we didn’t really need them to be shown like that.. I feel like it was a tie-up. Since Tian found that “engagement” toy ring in Mo’s jacket..then a lot of official art had these rings there, so I guess it all comes together with the theme.
“According to Chinese tradition, engagement rings are worn on the middle finger, while wedding rings are worn on opposite hands by the bride and the groom. The bride wears a band on her right hand, while the groom wears his on the left.”
He puts it on Mo’s middle finger.. so it is like that.. Which was his intention all along.. But Mo is drunk, really drunk.. I just don’t think now is the best time to be doing that :D He doesn’t even know where he is..
Again, He Tian gets to decide..he comes after who knows how long, invites himself to the drinking party, manages to try to control Mo all night, unsuccessfully, then proceeds to take Mo to his place, sits him on his lap, all without consent :D (if we’re like that)..and then makes him his fiancée.
I found it also a wasted opportunity to not slide a bit of Qiu and Cheng from future in there.. I mean, they’re also appreciated by fandom, it gives the story broader audience and depth..
