1. He does not love you. If you take anything from this, take this. He will swear he loves you while he is simultaneously slipping poison into your morning coffee, and he will watch you die a slow and painful death and claim that he had nothing to do with it. He will tie your shoelaces together while you are not paying attention and he will watch you fall with no intention of catching you and he will laugh about it. He does not love you. 2. Never take your shoes off, you can expect that you will be leaving soon. Do not make yourself at home, it is not your home, he is not your home. He will set himself on fire while you are still inside, and he will watch himself burn from the inside out, and he will not feel an ounce of pain. You will come out scorched and scarred, if you come out at all. If he ever says, “make yourself at home,” run. 3. Do not depend too much on his promises, they are empty. Do not be disappointed when he promises to take you out and then says he is busy. Do not be hurt when he promises to love you forever and then leaves you for the older girl in his biology class. Do not give him the satisfaction of ruining your life and your image of love. 4. Do not lessen yourself so you can fit into him perfectly, you never will. You are the entire universe, you are made of nothing but stardust, and he can barely fit one of your galaxies in the palm of his hand. If he tries to change you or cannot handle your complexity, get up, dust off your hands, and blame it on the fact that he simply bit off more than he could chew.
