I am Kareman, a Palestinian mother from Gaza, and we are still alive after 475 days of war that began on October 7, 2023, and ended today. However, despite being alive, pain and sorrow have not left us. Everything around us has turned to rubble. I once said, "This pain will end one day, and I believe in that," but I never imagined that the pain would follow us in this way.
We returned to our home, only to find that the pain has deepened. Our home, which once embraced us, is now destroyed. The fishing boat, which was our only source of livelihood, was consumed by fire, taking away all hope. The fishing nets and equipment, which were our means of survival, have been burned. My husband, who supported us with his work, now has nothing but memories😭💔
As for me, I was a children's teacher, teaching them to love life despite the difficulties, but my school, which was once a place of hope, is now nothing but ash. We have lost everything, but we still hold on to hope thanks to Hamoud, who gives us the strength to keep going.
Today, we need you more than ever. We ask for your help in repairing my husband's fishing boat, as we have no other source of income. If we don't get the support to repair it, we will remain trapped in a cycle of poverty and need. But if we stand together, we can rise again.

Fascinating how what's considered feminine and what's considered masculine can change over time. The rebranding of being a horse girl into being a stereotypical feminine girly trait needs to be studied.
Look at classic children's novels. As recently as the 50s and early 60s, being obsessed with horses as a girl was depicted as strange and tomboyish, and the very concept of being obsessed with horses from early childhood and loving toy horses and desperately wanting your own horse being a "little girl thing" and not a "little boy thing" would send someone from the 1800s and earlier into a coma.
There's maybe a point to be made here somewhere about how when keeping and riding horses stopped being necessary to the functioning of society and became a more "frivolous" thing, it was rapidly rebranded as silly and girly and for women, but what do I know.
i wrote a paper in my masculinity studies class in college about this exact phenomenon, specifically about how high heeled shoes started as a practical way for Persian cavalry to keep their feet on their stirrups, then likely due to that association, became a popular fashion item and status symbol among the upper classes of Europe, before the Great Male Renunciation of the 18th-19th centuries, when men started shunning opulence in favor of utility, leaving them as a fashion item for women instead.
I've joked that the two genders are Aesthetic and Utility before but thats just kinda the case

Too often in media, Black women and femmes are seen as disposable. They're stepping stones on the path to the " true relationship". They're the side best friend, they're killed off for the narrative..
Too often in media Black people period are questioned for why they're in fantasy, or supernatural stories. " Why is a mermaid Black?" " Why is that dwarf Black?" " Why is that knight Black?"
There's rampant biphobia and questioning of people's queer idenity as nonbinary or fear of being open about your Black queerness period...
Too often in media our stories as Black people are only accepted if it centers our pain. Very rarely are we given opportunity in mainstream media to have our whimsical and fun coming of age stories without black trauma at it's core. Our history is part of us, but we can have our " Juno's " , our " Twilights" , our " Hunger Games" ...etc.. too. We are able to be and should be present in all genres and tell all kinds of stories.
The Three Tomes aims to dismantle all of this. It's a Queer YA coming of age story about Tammy Harris, age 17. She lives in the Chicago Suburbs and is having her own adventure and dealing with grief and change through the magical lens of witches and vampires. The story centers on her, and a host of queer black and brown characters taking the lead. A Lesbian Witch, A gay Vampire priest, a gay Vampire villian, two bi, and pan vampire boys ( tammy's love interests) and Tammy's best friend who is nonbinary and black/indian mixed.

what is it about things being gender neutral having to also be ‘masculine’. like, why can you wear a suit and tie and call it gender neutral but not a dress cause that’s feminine. why can you call people dude or guy as a gender neutral term but not girl cause that’s feminine. short hair is neutral but long hair is feminine. i mean i know why this is fully a rhetorical question but let’s think about that

Hmmm 🤔💭 Are you sure about that? Now, I agree with this sentiment when it's said by other Black people in fandoms. But when white fans start parroting this... I find it rather eyeroll inducing. Sorry, but I can't help but question if they actually believe what they're saying. Btw, I say white people in fandom because they're the main cause of the issue I want to talk about, but that doesn’t mean non-black fans of any ethnicity cannot contribute to it.
So here's my question for white & non-black fans: Is that really what y'all want? Because whenever there is a flawed Black character in a movie, tv show, video game, whatever, y'all crucify them to the highest heaven. God forbid a Black character slips up from time to time, isn't always nice, or has a disagreement with the non-black main character, then suddenly there's a flood of video essays titled Why [Blank] Is The Worst Fucking Character Since The Dawn Of Television. Black characters can't even be a little sarcastic or snippy without people feeling some type of way about it. You can also expect fandoms to respond with even more hostility if the Black character is a woman.
So, again - Are y'all sure? Are y'all sure you want Black characters who are flawed, complex, & three-dimensional? Because we can't even get past "Stage One: Black Character Makes Mistakes", without fandoms erupting into a shitstorm. This means we're in a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation. A Black character is perfect? Non-black fans will hate them because they're a "flawless token". A Black character has flaws? They're still hated because fandom culture is notoriously racist and anti-black.
Oh, I just know you white fandomites would HATE the story I'm writing (tbh most of y'all would hate it from the jump because all of the characters are Black lol).
