Can’t wait to try this.
A zombie voodoo doll I knitted and entered in the fair.
Happy to Win
I made two brand new gourd dolls and entered them in the San Bernardino County Fair that just ended. Why it never occurred to me to enter the other two dolls I finished I don’t know.
But anyway, my little doll called The Princess of Hearts won first place and a judges choice ribbon. Right now the photos are stuck on my cellphone so I don’t know how to post them here, but I will as soon as I get my external hard drive hooked up.
The other doll was bigger and had a checkerboard pattern burned into the gourd and a hand knitted hat and scarf. Sadly she did not win anything. In fact they put her in the display case facing the wall. The judges comments were not negative, so I don’t know but art is subjective and that’s the way the cookie crumbles sometimes.

More Ideas
I finished Tassie theTea Fairy today. Her name comes from tasseography, which is tea leaf reading. Her body fabric is covered in ornamental tea pots. Today I added her purplish blue eye lash yarn hair and made her a tiny necklace. Her tutu is felt. I was going to add sequins to the wings, but I think the hair would get all tangled around the sequins.
I’ve been busy filling up a little shop with the things I make so I haven’t had much time for doll making what with the shop and the holidays and all. So today I got to work on this doll that I have already done most of the body on way back when. I had her half stuffed, so today I finished stuffing her, made her a pair of wings and a bra and tutu. So here we have Tassie the Tea Fairy. Next I’ll do the face and the hair.

Right when I was trying to make dolls and odd little things I got distracted by a teddy bear making book. I was just ready to add the eyes, nose, mouth and clothing to these bears when a lady bought them just as they are. I call them my Bare Bears. I sold her another one yesterday. Seems I’m suddenly the bear factory. Another knitter traded me for 2 more. Maybe this time I’ll actually get to put the eyes on t hem.
