Using Finns age as like a benchmark for time. In season 5 “Betty Grof” when betty first comes to Ooo finn is 14 years old.

Then in “you forgot your floaties” when Betty becomes magic woman Finn is 15. So like it was a yearish of human betty in Ooo trying whatever she could to bring back Simon normally.

THEN in the finale when she becomes golbetty finn is 17. So that’s two years of the insanity as magic betty and more than 3 years total in Ooo spending every single waking moment obsessing over fixing Simon before she finally succeeds and ends up “dying” doing so.

THREE YEARS ALONE DOING NOTHING BUT TRYING DESPERATELY TO SAVE HIM. OF COURSE SHE HAD SOME MORALITY ISSUES DEALING WITH THAT IS HORRRRIBLEEE. ITS SO UPSETTING SHE MAKES ME ILLLL…. 💔💔💔💔

Then Fionna and cake is like 12 years after that.. so of course golbetty only thinks of Simon as a wonderful experience because she’s probably experienced infinitely more in 12 years as a space god than she did in her life as a human. BUT SHE STILL CARED AND THATS SO SADDD. And also yeah Simon spending those 12 years unable to move on from her.. they were both so unhappy oh my god it’s so unfair.

(I know this is probably common knowledge but it doesn’t make it any less sad)

something I keep thinking about is the fact that Betty ended up in Ooo before the mushroom war happened.

Imagine you end up stranded in the future and have to retroactively discover that the world you knew and everyone you knew was destroyed in a nuclear war 1000 years ago.

AS IF THE SIMON STUFF WASN’T BAD ENOUGH ALL READY, SHE IS ACTUALLY THE ONLY PART OF HER WORLD EVEN SLIGHTLY INTACT.

I would go crazy too.
