Headcanon: Lyrics are 2D and Murdoc’s main mode of emotional communicating. Have been since day one. Sometimes they write songs just because they want to talk but can’t and say “have a look at this.” but don’t even necessarily intend to make it into a song. Like they’re writing poems to each other under the guise that their viewing each others work professionally.

WELL the fucking type face letter didn’t help and we still only have his signature, but I went back anyway and this time this really stuck out to me.

I’ve seen people point out before that lyrically, this line makes sense as something 2D is quoting from Murdoc… 

But look at this handwriting from the Plastic Beach lyric book. Look at the similar strokes in the lowercase “y” and “g” as well as the similar ‘m’:

Now look at Murdoc’s signature and how, like in the passage from 2D’s journal, the letters runs together, like someones in the habit of not picking up the pen to finish the o’s, u’s and a’s :

Now obviously the writing is messy as hell, it looks like someone drunk or distressed. But this is not consistent with messy 2D hand writing, There are several example of what that looks like in the journal and all over his wall. 

Even at his messiest, his go-to “E” that begins as a “C” is still present, he sometimes goes to all caps, and he practically never runs the letters together, no where near as much as the writer of this passage. 

So..I think those Fireflies lyrics were literally written by Murdoc in 2D’s journal where he knew he would read it… sorry??
