I just want to put this in a post to say I called it. In the Worlds Beyond Number W.W.Wo preludes, I think Suvi's parents are actually fleeing the Citadel, Steel is actually a double agent and the real reason Suvi's parents are dead are because she chose to stay loyal to the Citadel instead.

Evidence to support this:

1 Soft's "colleague" Yoren is revealed in ep 2 to be of a sect of mages that Ame mentions they are "supposed to be at war with" to which Suvi agrees. Why would Soft and Stone be with him/fighting along side him if not in opposition of the Citadel?

2 There is no mention of any seige or battle at the Citadel itself (no mentioned evidence of battle, or mention of and occupation, etc), so why would Soft and Stone be leaving in such a rush? Why is Suvi in such danger of being found by unknown, but presumed powerful, people? Wouldn't the Citadel be one of the safer places if it wasn't Wizards she was endangered by?

3 Brennan has historically not loved empires, why would he let them be the good guy?? Also if Steel is good then why no character voice, that's not very on brand lol

Listen. I grew up in the middle of nowhere. There was nothing for a kid to do but run around outside (to be fair, there wasn’t much for adults to do either, but that’s not the point).

Anyways, I spent my entire childhood sprinting through the forests and fields, tall grass whipping at my shins, brambles sticking in my shorts. There was a certainty there. You pick up a stick and say it’s a sword, it’s not even imagination it’s just a statement of fact. You can run as fast as the wind, nothing can catch you, and you won’t fall (which makes it all the more surprising when you do, because you were so certain it wouldn’t happen that you hadn’t even considered what it would be like if you did).

I’ve never seen a piece of media capture that feeling as perfectly as the children’s adventure.

So yesterday my grandparents found a big box of old 78s that they’ve had in an attic for years, and wanted me to transfer them to CDs. Most were in pretty great shape, no cracks and few scratches. Lots of 1930s sweet/hot jazz, British big band & swing and a few Decca classical ones. This one had its label peeled/scratched off on the a side, on the reverse was a Parlophone march.

90% sure by playing it it’s unleashed some kind of 70 year old curse.
