The first and the last thing I drew this year.
The potential you’ll be, that you’ll never see
The warmth in their bond
(DGM chapters 257, 120)
looking at the stars together⭐️
d for dear……
anyone else going through all stages of grief with csm232
I really really like the chainsaw man ending I need to get my thoughts about it in order a bit better though
Okay okay okay. So in my eyes, there's three major themes here: the value of an imperfect world, the freedom of not being the protagonist, and the lasting benefit of forming bonds.
As long as the Chainsaw Devil existed, Denji was never going to have peace. Time and time again, devils were going to come for him, to take Chainsaw's power for themselves and create their perfect world. The constant escalation resulted in Yoru's deathless world, where everyone would suffer forever. So in this new timeline, the Chainsaw Devil doesn't exist. Here, you can't simply remove everything you don't like. You have to accept that there are good movies AND bad movies.
Without Chainsaw, Makima can't pursue her perfect world, thus she's replaced with the more innocent and childish Nayuta. Without the possibility of a perfect world, she might accept that good movies and bad movies both exist. Here, she has the potential to grow up happy.
In the original timeline, Denji would've died in the Zombie fight if it wasn't for Pochita. But here he's instead rescued by Power. Power, who wasn't there in the original timeline. Power, who immediately takes Denji under her wing, though she initially hated humans. Because Power remembers, if only subconsciously, the bond they shared in the other world. And that bond is quickly rekindled, signified by Denji calling her the nickname, Powy. Despite not remembering him, Power and Nayuta still sense affection towards him. That bond wasn't wasted. It has value beyond death.
Finally, Denji and Asa. In this new timeline, neither of them are devils. They are both perfectly average people. They are both freed from their roles as protagonists. This of course means that their lives are forfeit. They will die some day, in some devil attack, as if it's nothing. Like so many other nameless background characters. Because everyone's lives are forfeit in a world where death exists. But we saw Yoru's deathless world, and it was endless suffering. So here they have the freedom to be unexceptional, and to die one day. An imperfect world, where death, and good and bad movies, all exist, forever.
Ah. it seems a lot of other people did not like it very much
it’s hard to formulate my thoughts on the csm ending, i did enjoy the chapter and thematically it lands really well, specifically with denji dropping the chainsaw to help asa, but it still leaves me feeling empty and disappointed in these characters..
the loose plot lines aren’t the real issue, nor the ambiguity around pochita’s ability and the circumstances of erasing himself, because the world building and power system aren’t what made the series interesting to me
i was just hoping, with it being primarily a character driven story, that it would give its protagonists some agency when it comes to its conclusion. having pochita make that decision on behalf of denji (and in a way asa) feels so unearned? and it still doesn’t really change anything because these characters will just end up making the same mistakes if they were ever to be put in similar circumstances..

Sometimes I randomly remember how the most important people of my life from like 6-7 years ago are not in my life at all anymore and that's sort of terrifying and also crazy to realize how you actually can survive loss beyond your comprehension and find happiness stronger and more suited for you if you keep going
HAPPY NEIGHW YEAR im so happy its horse year and everyone is drawing horses. let's all draw more horses
On the twelfth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me...THE Louvre Heeeeist My @secretsaito gift for @acute-sheep ❤ I wish you all the best!! Thank you for such a great prompt!
my unbiased correct take
Absolutely wild that Fujimoto said “In a world where the very concept of nuclear weapons has been erased from existence, America is so hellbent on warmongering that they will literally reinvent nuclear weapons from scratch just to kill more people, and then the American people will cheer for their use even as the bodies burn, causing the manifestation of War itself to fall in love with America” in his Shonen manga about a teen who transforms into a chainsaw-headed man in 2025
i was gonna say “wow, they’re really pushing the came back wrong trope because buffy keeps repeating the exact phrase” until i googled and realise the phrase “came back wrong” literally originates from buffy. this show is like the modern shakespeare
in 2004 a thread started on buffistas.org to discuss tropes used in Buffy and other Whedonverse shows. At the time there were no formal names for most tropes so users assigned them names based on the scenes they were discussing. This thread inspired one of the site members to start the website TVTropes.org
Most of the listings on TVtropes were named after scenes and quotes from Buffy the Vampire Slayer
