something quick I did while I go crazy waiting for the next episode lol
M | 5.9k | alive!dennis; getting together; flower love languages; fluff | Summary:
So something’s going on between them for sure, flirting, some tension of the good kind. Sam’s been single for a while now, focused on work, missions, and a surprising amount of press handling since he’s taken up the mantle. But he’s ready to get back in the game, get back in the dating pool. And he is all about exploring this. Apparently, Dennis is, too. Sam catches him staring. Dennis blinks a few times fast, shuts his mouth, then bites back a grin.

OK, but the end credits scene of Thunderbolts took place 14 months after they were announced as the New Avengers - and Bucky was talking about Sam being angry at him.
Meaning Sam had been angry at Bucky and distancing himself from him for over a freakin’ year.
And besides the Thunderbolts, Sam was the only other friend Bucky had.
He was his closest and his best friend (and husband cuz come on - ) after Steve died.
And he had basically cut ties with Bucky because of the New Avengers thing.
Can you imagine how lonely Bucky must’ve felt without him??? Like yes, he has the Thunderbolts…but they’re not Sam Wilson.
Bucky and his new team were moved into the tower as a way of giving them all a home, but really - it just took Bucky away from his.
Because his home hadn’t been a place, it had been a person. Bucky’s home had been Sam.
maybe bucky shouldn't have been a fucking asshole to his only friend then huh

Perhaps he should've treated those he cared about more instead of making the decision that left him lonely and alone. Betrayal has a funny way of isolating folks.
I will also scream it from the roof tops: We do not know that Sam is angry. I hope he is, he deserves to be. But we do not know that. Y'all keep taking a scene in which the Thunderbolts (!!!) are the ones shitting on Sam, insulting him, talking about him, and the line "it went poorly" along with the very neutral information that he is trying to file for copyright of the name, and you're projecting ALL this stuff onto Sam.
Why do I not see Thunderbolts fans talk about how nasty the Tbolts are in how they talk about Sam? Or how disrespectful of his work and the team he started building before they got their gig they're being? Or how petty and childish they're being for clinging to a name they took from him and his team?
No instead y'all call Sam angry, petty, jealous etc, and it's just made up. We don't know how Sam feels. We don't know what drives his actions. But you want him to be the bad guy SO BADLY that you're making stuff up.
We don't know if Sam is angry. Stop making this up just to prop up your attempts to infantilize Bucky and his shitty life choices. He complied with the corrupt CIA director who does human experiments, and he does propaganda PR for him. Acknowledge his shitty actions, and how his own actions have potentially isolated from his one true friend and *actual* found family.
Not to bang on about Sam Wilson again, but sometimes I think about the therapy scene in Falcon and the winter soldier.
And how Sam just found out there’s a Black super soldier who was tortured and imprisoned for 30 years, and then shortly after that he’s racially profiled by a trigger happy cop, and then John Walker shows up to rub the shield in his face, and then he’s dragged into a therapy session where the best friend of the man Sam trusted and worshiped so much he went on the run for him, became a war criminal for him (and Bucky) tells him that Steve was probably wrong to have placed trust in him, that he was probably as worthless as society has deemed him to be seemingly just for daring to exist.
Sometimes I think about that, and how so many people til today stay mad at Sam for not offering empathy to Bucky in that moment, because clearly Bucky was having a meltdown and Sam needed to show support.
Like, four whole years later, I still get that narrative randomly popping up!
Like, I don’t think Sam is perfect. But expecting the man to put aside his own feelings for Bucky in that moment is just staggering to me, in terms of the expectations we have for how Black characters should behave towards white ones without getting tarred and feathered.
Anyway I love those two doofuses, and Sam definitely loves Bucky so I have let things go, but sometimes I think this will be my villain origin story.
Okay, bye.

Across the Room
Sam could feel the heat of someone’s gaze upon him. He looked over his shoulder to find Bucky watching him while taking a sip from his whiskey glass. Sam gulped as Bucky smirked at him. He tore his gaze away from his ex-husband, instead focusing on the hand of his friend Matt resting on his arm. They were at an Avengers party and Sam and Matt were currently talking to Hope and Scott. Well, Matt was the one talking, while Sam was busy squirming under the look Bucky was sending his way.
“You okay?” Matt asked in his ear.
Sam cleared his throat and nodded. ‘Yeah, I’m good. I need a drink. I’ll be right back.” Before Matt could say anything, Sam walked away. As he waited for this beer at the bar, he felt a hand on the small of his back, followed by a voice in his ear. “Hey, baby.”
“Bucky, what are you doing?” Sam asked, turning to look at his former husband.
“You look so good tonight,” Bucky whispered in his ear, making Sam shudder in return. “Come with me,” he added.
“No, I’m not going anywhere with you,” Sam told him. But Bucky refused to listen. He took Sam’s hand and pulled him behind him to a secluded campus area. Bucky pressed Sam against the wall and put his hands on either side of his head as he stared at him. “I missed you,” he said.
Sam felt his heart ache at Bucky’s admission. “Bucky, don’t.”
“Why was Matt all over you?” Bucky continued to ask, jealousy obvious in his voice.
“What’s it to you?” Sam asked.
“No one else can touch you,” Bucky told him.
“Why not? We’re not together anymore.”
Bucky pressed his whole body against Sam. Sam could feel his hard-on pressing against him through his pants. Bucky leaned in to kiss Sam but Sam turned his head. “Buck, I can’t. We broke up for a reason.”
Bucky rested his forehead against the wall and sighed. “I miss you. Riley misses you.”
“I miss you too,” Sam admitted.
“Then come back.” Bucky moved his head away from the wall and looked at Sam.
“I can’t, Buck. Nothing has changed between us. I will still be going out there and putting my life in danger. You will still be at home worrying about me…” Sam trailed off.
“I can come out of retirement and be by your side again.”
“I don’t need your protection. Besides, you got out for a good reason. Our little girl needs at least one of us around,” Sam told him.
“Sam, please, let me do this. I need you back in my life.” There was desperation in Bucky’s voice, which broke Sam’s heart.
Suddenly, Bucky was being pulled away from Sam. Sam then noticed Matt standing there behind Bucky.
“Sam, you okay?” Matt asked Sam.
“How did you find me?” Sam asked him, confused.
“That’s not important,” Matt replied, still holding onto Bucky’s right arm. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah, I’m okay. Bucky would never hurt me.”
Bucky pulled his arm out of Matt’s grip and glared at the lawyer.
“How about you leave us alone?” Bucky growled at Matt.
“How about you leave Sam alone? He clearly doesn’t want to talk to you.”
“He’s my husband!” Bucky argued.
“He’s my friend,” Matt threw back. “And he’s your ex-husband. He is seeking a divorce from you.”
Sam’s heart skipped a beat and his mouth fell open a little when Matt revealed that to Bucky. Sam hadn’t told Bucky that he was seeking a divorce.
Bucky turned around to look at Sam with hurt written all over his face. “Is that true? You want to divorce me?"
“Bucky- I-” Sam started to say but he didn’t know how to finish that sentence.
Tears formed in Bucky’s eyes and he huffed. “Right. So that answers everything.” With that he walked away, leaving Sam to call after him.
Bucky didn’t stop.

Sam gave Matt an earful for breaking the news to Bucky without asking him first. He then left the party early and made his way to the house he once shared with Bucky. When he reached there, he could hear Riley’s cries and it put him on alert. He rang the doorbell and waited for Bucky to answer it. When he did, he had their 2-year-old in his arms, rocking her, as he tried to quiet her down.
“What are you doing here?” Bucky frowned at him.
Sam got into his papa mode immediately and reached out towards Bucky. “Give her to me. I’ll quiet her down.”
“No, it’s okay. I got it,” Bucky huffed. “Besides, I’ll have to do this on my own anyway, once we get a divorce.”
“Bucky-” Sam said exasperated.
Riley’s screams got louder and Sam reached out and took her from Bucky’s arms despite Bucky’s protests.
Sam rocked the little girl in his arms and thumped her on the back to get her to quiet down. When that didn’t work, he started to sing to her while pacing the room, as that’s something that worked in the past. It worked this time too and Riley soon fell quiet and her breathing evened out. Her tiny fist grabbed onto Sam’s dinner jacket as she fell asleep against him.
Bucky watched them and then shook his head. “She needs both of us, you know.”
Sam didn’t respond to that. Instead he took Riley to her nursery and put her down. She stirred in her sleep and Sam whispered “Shhh…” before tucking her in. He then kissed her forehead and watched her for a few minutes. “I miss her too,” he said to Bucky who was there beside him the whole time. “Its hurts being away from her.”
“Then why won’t you give us another chance?” Bucky asked.
Sam took Bucky’s hand and led him out of the nursery and back to the living room. “I’m sorry about tonight. Matt had no right telling you that.”
“Well, it was bound to come out sometime.” Bucky shrugged. “So you’re giving me a divorce?” He asked sadly.
“I don’t know,” Sam answered honestly. “I never stopped loving you and I never will.”
He heard Bucky gasp and he came closer to him. “Really?”
“Like you didn’t know that already,” Sam scoffed. “The only reason I left is because I didn’t want you to always worry about losing me.”
“I know,” Bucky replied. “I am willing to come out of retirement and have your back like before.”
“What about Riley then?” Sam asked.
“We can always hire a babysitter.” Bucky replied. “And I won’t go on every mission. Just the more dangerous ones.”
“What if we both lose our lives, Buck? What happens to Riley then?” Sam asked, worry lacing his voice.
“We can’t think like that, baby.” Bucky reached out to touch Sam’s face. “We’ll be okay.”
Sam leaned into his former husband’s touch and let himself relax.
“Stay the night,” Bucky said to break the silence that had fallen between them.
Sam’s eyes widened slightly. “What?”
“Spend the night… with me,” Bucky got even closer and leaned in to kiss Sam but stopped at the last second. “Are you and Matt together?” He asked.
“No!” Sam replied quickly. “He’s just a friend.”
“Okay,” Bucky smiled and finally kissed Sam. Sam wrapped his arms around the other man’s neck and pulled him even closer to deepen the kiss. They kissed for what seemed like hours before Bucky pulled away to catch a breath. He then took Sam’s hand and led him to their previously shared bedroom and closed the door behind them.
Sam dressed up their 3-year-old, Riley, in the cutest outfits. He learned very quickly how to shop for her and every time he went to the store, he bought her new clothes. Bucky wanted to tell Sam that Riley will grow out of them really soon so there was no point in buying all these stuff but the excitement on Sam’s face kept him quiet.
“Look at this Mini Mouse dress with the matching red hat!” Sam said one day after he returned home from shopping. It was supposed to be a milk run to Target but Bucky’s husband came back with at least three new outfits for Riley.
“You just got her shorts and t-shirt sets from Walmart last week!” Bucky informed him.
“Yeah but those were shorts and t-shirts. These are dresses,” Sam huffed and picked up the next dress which was orange and came with a matching white leggings with orange flowers. “Look this one has a headband which will look so cute on Ri.” He said with a great big smile on his face. “What do you think, baby girl?” He asked the toddler who was busy playing with her toys.
Sam went over to her and picked her, making her frown at him for interrupting her playtime. He put the headband with the bow on her head and cooed at her. “There isn’t a kid cuter than my little baby girl out there,” he declared, kissing Riley on the cheek.
Bucky stared at them in awe and took a photo of the two of them while Sam wasn’t looking. He loved collecting these special moments.
More samsteve >:D in a few flavors but not really lol BUT there is an explanation for the sam up top! I was watching p-valley I really just love uncle cillford's outfits and make up. did you say kings prequel??? tell me more?? oh god i loved that fic so much!!
I did! So I finally have comprehensible outline for this, only took me forever! I don't have anything written yet, but you can expect:
a scene where Jimmy takes Sam to meet his family and it is utter chaos but they all love Sam and give Jimmy absolute shit for being so in love;
a scene where Sam is in a meeting with some guys and someone disrespects him and he stabs them with a pen through the hand;
all the smut i didn't give you in the first fic. including THAT scene in Jimmy's car in Harlem.
i am SO excited to start this, i have all the mob movies lined up for inspirational re-watching!
"You," Steve said, taking Sam's hand. They were sitting by the lake, with Sam sitting between Steve's legs, his back plastered to the other man's chest.
They were on the run, but right now things were quiet, so they could briefly enjoy themselves in Sweden.
"Me what?" Sam asked, looking over his shoulder.
"You make me happy," Steve replied, resting his chin on Sam's shoulder. When Sam looked increasingly confused, he added. "You asked me all those years ago what made me happy... so you, you make me happy."
"You're so corny," Sam chuckled.
Steve wrapped his arms around Sam's middle and nuzzled his neck. "You know you love it," Steve replied.
