there's no favouritism in the criminal underworld. white webs treats all criminals the same, regards them all one way. but admittedly, there are some gangs and groups that intrigue her more than others. shadow watch is one of them. webs swings up into the air and perches on a fire escape where she finds boogeyman lingering. her head turns so that her gaze is on him. she's outside, getting some fresh air. the breeze is warm against her face. the last few days of hunting have taken their toll. it's to be expected, given what she's been through. her mind is cast back to the past, flashbacks of the knife in her grasp, the blood dripping down her hand. still feels its heaviness, its suddenness against her flesh. the crime scene before her. her parents...
you okay? you seem out of it, andrew asks, and she flinches back from wherever she'd gone and finds herself staring at him. a moment passes before she blinks and nods reluctantly. swallows thickly. " fine, i'm— " lilia inhales deeply and slowly exhales through her mouth, " i'm fine. "
decidedly not very convincing, it's accompanied by a smile. " the last couple days have just been a lot, " she admits. the truth is, she wasn't built for this kind of work. innocent and gentle, lilia became something she was afraid of through no fault of her own. she remembers andrew's own situation, regarding his wife and how she was still missing at the hands of witches and realises she's being selfish. she sits across the table opposite him, cleaning her gun. except her gaze has strayed to the bottle in brute's grasp and she's been watching him drink for the last five minutes. tongue presses against her cheek, annoyed. then, it sweeps across the front of her teeth. " you shouldn't be drinking on the job, " kezia says bitterly. a jab, like her teeth are fangs. god she'd give anything to be with her own drink right now. curled up on her sofa, away from her team. " the bottle is placed back down on the table as she lifts her chin and considers him. the taste hits her and she grimaces. " what the fuck was that? tonight is not going as planned. her target is not him. the one that'd seated himself beside her at the pricey bar and caught her attention with bold conversation. and she wonders whether he has cash to spill or is looking for company of another kind. saw a pretty woman and latched on like a leech. although she can't feel her blood seeping from her, so she debates his intentions. the man to her left is who she'd had her eyes on. a rich guy from out of state on a business trip. she's gathered this much information without even talking to him. he's been stealing glances at her for the past hour, and now she's got someone to her right threatening to blow the whole evening because what? he wants to chat?
nina licks her reddened lips and tries to ignore him. the man to her left talks about his week to his friend, about his co-worker and how much he disdains her. how he makes her life a misery where possible because she's useless. nina feels that usual pulsing in her bones, a desire to ruin this guy's day. still, he glances at her as though his broadcasted loathing for women will turn her on. yuck!
finally, she takes the plunge and 'accidentally' knocks his drink over, spilling it into his lap. she rockets to her feet and clasps a hand over her mouth. " i'm so sorry! " she insists. he's disgruntled, but when she sucks on her lower lip and blinks at him through her eyelashes he seems less concerned. tells her it's alright and goes to clean up. that's her in, she thinks. the attractive woman who spilled a drink on him. it'll give them something to bond over as she walks him back to his hotel room... sounds like they deserve it, the guy to her right comments, catching her attention again.
consider her curiosity piqued. he feels the same way she does. nina feigns a smile and leans against the bar, scanning his features. she doesn't have long, her target will be back soon. she decides to indulge him. " what makes you say that? "

despite khajiits being relatively social creatures, lu'ja is not. oftentimes keeping to herself and preferring to move through the wilds of skyrim alone with the company of shadowmere and only him, she feels a swelling discomfort at the idea of being in tavis's company for much longer. especially when they expect her to keep watch for them while they dig their paws into the door lock of a jewellery shop. her tail flicks impatiently. the night air is cold and she's thankful for the thick armour that keeps her warm.
among the darkness, no one can see them, but someone in the wrong place at the wrong time might cause trouble. her ears curl backwards and she lets out a low hiss. " this does not make us friends, " lu'ja warns. the lock clicks and the door opens. " save some for me, or i will gut you with your own dagger.
