Sae Itoshi:
Background Music (one-shot)
Background Music
Sae Itoshi x gn!reader
stuff: one-shot, reader is a professional pianist, set at a party, slightly suggestive convo (shidou…) not really proofread lol
wc: 1.6 k
Sae was a man of order.
Control wasn’t just a preference—it was a necessity. In his schedule, in his training, in the way he moved through the world. His manager found it exhausting. Every event, every meeting turned into a battle of wills.
Sae hated many things that involved talking to people he’d rather avoid, but there was one thing that stood out from the rest. One thing he despised over all the rest.
Parties.
Not the college kind where you’d get drunk out of your mind, yes he hated those obviously, but formal parties? Absolutely not. He couldn’t stand on the sidelines without a teammate bothering him, his acquaintances trying to speak to him, and he dreaded being introduced to a girl. He’d rather die than attend them and actually socialize. He wasn’t entirely antisocial, he was just not in the mood for talking. Usually ever. He believed it was simply a waste of time.
He couldn’t get himself out of this party though. Not with his manager nagging him about it, especially after their win. It was a given the players would have a nice party after a difficult game. Sae couldn’t pass, even if his teammates talked his ear off about it.
He sighed as his hand subconsciously tugged at his collar, messing with his tie, the atmosphere different but still annoying. It was more formal this time, almost like those stupid period dramas. On his way inside, cameras flashed his vision from the sidelines, wanting just a glance. Sae never really gave them the time of day, completely ignoring their questions. He walked along the red carpet as he entered the obnoxiously large building, music, laughter and loud talking filling his ears.
It was decent. Not to his liking though. The structure of the building was less modern, with marble columns that sectioned areas, shooting onto the ceiling. There were tables of food, an orchestra and piano, and even a place to dance. Flowers and decorations were scattered across the large space, proving a beautiful look paired with the lights. This was a fancy party, and the scene made him scrunch his nose. Why put in all this money and effort for a stupid party?
“Sae, you actually made it!” his manager walked up to him, barely believing Sae decided to show up. He adjusted his glasses and pulled out a sheet. Really? At a party? Sae exhaled sharply as he let his eyes wander. “So, there were a few people who wanted to speak to you, mainly about sponsorship and-“
Sae droned out the rambling, deciding it wasn’t worth his time. His manager should be glad he even took his day to come here. He could’ve been doing other things. As Sae shut out the voice, he tuned in the music.
Of course he’d noticed the obnoxious few instruments, and piano, but the music was…enchanting. A pianist was presumably playing a solo, and it contrasted with the usual modern and familiar music they would have at parties. He hummed in interest, his eyes searching—needing to hear who was playing. It was heartfelt, beautiful even. He wasn’t even a classical music enjoyer, but this—this was different. It made him feel calm. Something he hadn’t felt in a while. He almost felt…content.
“…and Sae.” his manager finally looked up at him, furrowing his brows as he followed his gaze, which lead to nowhere. He shot a tired look at him, huffing as he stared at him. “Were you even listening?” his voice sounded to used to these antics.
“No.” Sae shrugged, his eyes not even glancing at the man. A pillar was covering the pianist. How annoying.
“Look- i’ll just send you a text after. Enjoy your time.” the manager ran a hand down his face before walking off to get a drink.
Sae hummed, and began to walk himself. Not to the sidelines like he usually did. He walked towards the music. Avoiding people who definitely looked like they were approaching him, he weaved through the crowd. There.
A pianist sat, playing a stunning tune. The keys almost abiding to the way your fingers danced across them. You weren’t just playing—you were feeling it too. You looked elegant from even behind.
Not many were watching, and he doubted people were listening like he was. It was almost confusing how he’d missed this. He was entranced. Sae for once in his life felt like he couldn’t pull away. He couldn’t choose to leave. He didn’t want to. He hovered near the edge of the room like a misplaced shadow, arms crossed tight across his chest as if they could cage the strange calm that had settled over him. He waited for you to finish your array of pieces. He needed to talk to you.
What? Talk? Sae grimaced at his own thought, almost offended his brain thought that thought. He wanted to talk? He wanted to talk. So he waited. Waited for them to finish the ongoing performance. You’d have to take a break soon enough, right? His eyes were set on your form. His watchful gaze was interrupted by a flash of pink, and a slap on his back.
“Yo, Sae!” Shidou grinned as he slurred his words. This fool was already drunk? Drink in hand, tie loose and hair messy. Sae didn’t even want to know.
Sae turned his head slowly to him, his eyes glaring sharply at him. Even this guys voice irritated Sae.
“This party ain’t fun! No drama or action. The girls here are fun though-“
Nope. That’s when Sae tuned him out. Every single time this walking pink highlighter talked about women, it never ended well. It happened often too. Locker room, practice, walking. Walking. Sae was sick of it, and sick of hearing how he talked about both the scene and the person. He found comfort in the much better sound of music. Until Shidou’s hand was waving in Sae’s face. He followed his gaze and grinned, turning his head to look at him smugly.
“Oh hoh? Into piano players now? Man, didn’t know that was your type!” he hummed, definitely checking you out now, even from a large distance.
Sae ignored him, letting out an annoyed huff as he stepped back. Shidou always got too close.
“Y’know, if that’s what you like, I might start playing piano!” he grinned, placing a hand on his chin, genuinely thinking about it.
“If you touch a piano, i’ll break your hands.” Sae said coolly, his eyes narrowed on Shidou. When he glanced back at the pianist, he saw that you weren’t there. He panicked for a moment, before he saw you moving towards the drinks table.
Sae left Shidou to talk to himself, finding this much more important. He walked over; his steps slowing as he got closer. Why was he nervous? No, he wasn’t. Why would he be? He’s talked to many people before. Never…with good intentions though usually…
He walked up to the drinks, his eyes surveying the table covered with a white lace cloth. The drinks were all different, so he grabbed a rose-gold colored one, taking a small sip. He glanced at you, finding your eyes already on him.
“I…saw you play.” he hummed softly, being the glass down from his lips. You smiled, and he swore his heart skipped a beat.
“Yeah, that’s what i’m here for…!” you answered with a laugh, Sae realizing his words had no follow up to them.
“It was good. I usually don’t care for classical.” he spoke again, taking another sip to cover for him. He felt a bit stupid. You smiled again, appreciating his compliment.
“Thanks, it’s nice to know feedback sometimes, especially at a huge event like this.” you exhaled softly. Big events were terrifying sometimes. Usually you played at events by yourself, this time though…you were accompanied by an orchestra. Which caused a bit more pressure on you.
“What song did you play? The one where you had a small solo. You played with one hand on the bottom half, and the other played on the top.” he spoke, almost remembering the song in detail.
That’s what stunned you. Sure people listened, and were amazed by your talent. Nobody ever listened like this—listened like they were memorizing the song. Your eyes were wide as he spoke, lips slightly parted in shock. This guy wasn’t even a music enthusiast, yet you could tell the piece he was describing.
“It was Rachmaninoff, Adagio Sostenuto. His second piano concerto. It’s one of my favorites.” you spoke, your tone light. He nodded, repeating the name under his breath. He’d listen to it later, but he doubted it’d give the same feeling as it did when you played.
“Are you a soccer player? This event was mainly for them…so-“ you didn’t know much about soccer. To you, it was just one of the many sports people played. You didn’t dislike sports, but you weren’t a huge fan of them.
“Yeah, Sae Itoshi. We recently just played actually.” he nodded his head, taking another sip of his drink. His eyes were on your face. You were…breathtaking. He hasn’t really seen your face from the position earlier while playing the piano. Now, he could.
“Oh! I know, the game yesterday! Yeah, my friends talked about it. I’m not a huge fan, so I don’t know much about it.” you admitted with a small laugh, closing your eyes for a bit.
“It’s fine, I don’t expect everyone to know who I am.” he said, a small smile cracking. You nodded your head, checking the time. Oh, you still had a while before you had to go back.
Sae heard the orchestra playing in the background, his eyes momentarily glancing at the crowd dancing. He set his drink down, now empty and turned to you.
“Would you care to dance? If you have time.” he asked, slowly extending his hand towards you. You smiled, accepting his hand. Why not? He didn’t look like much of a dancer, but how could you refuse when he asked like that.
“I’d love to.” you responded with a smile, reaching to hold his outstretched hand with your gloved one’s.

Chapter 1
WC: 2.6 k
“Over here, over here!” the bride said excitedly, leading you towards a table.
“Here is where the food and desert are going to be. Feel free to eat, I know some people don’t let the photographers eat, but I do!” she grinned, placing her laced gloved hands together.
“I appreciate it.” you smiled softly, before her friends came to steal her away. She smiled apologetically before waving at you.
You waved her off and turned towards the table. It was beautiful. The set up and display was carefully thought and planned out, resulting in you raising your camera. The chocolate table was your best interest, it was the best wedding food display you had seen in your career. You shifted your footing, attempting to find the best position. There. That was perfect.
“Uhm, excuse me?” a voice called from behind you, disrupting the perfect shot. You frowned, letting out a sigh as you turned around. Your eyes met a tall man, who sported a red buzz cut. Very interesting…
“Yes?” you responded, not sounding very happy. You let go of your camera to hang from your neck, crossing your arms over your chest.
“I haven’t finished setting up the display yet.” he smiled, holding his plate of chocolates higher to your view. Eyeing the plate for a few seconds, you said a quick apology and stepped away. Your eyes remained on him, traveling to the gloved hand that delicately placed chocolates on the plates. Well, that was a bit embarrassing. Your tone was a bit too harsh for your liking, but it didn’t matter in the end.
He glanced over at you, catching your eye and smiling once you looked away. He placed the last few chocolates and stepped back a bit.
“Impressive, aren’t I?” he said proudly, placing his gloved hands on his hips. Isn’t that a bit unsanitary?
“The display is nice.” you hummed in return, which caused him to grin at you, placing a hand on his chest.
“Only the display? Not the one who made it?”
Although it was a bit embarrassing at first when you totally disregarded the fact that he could’ve been the one making the display, you decided to keep up with it. He was a bit annoying, so it’d only be fair to sass this man back.
“Are you fishing for compliments or something…?” you raised a brow, your lips pressed into a thin line.
He, the ever dramatic person, placed his gloved hand against his heart. Also unsanitary…
“Wow, that hurt! I just want recognition for my greatness.” he frowned, acting like you’d wounded him or something.
“Well, yes the display is great. You do know how to show.” you admitted, fiddling with your camera as you met his eyes. “It might taste terrible, usually if it looks good it tastes mediocre. Just how chocolate is.” you spoke as though you yourself were a chocolatier. You took this moment to raise the camera to eye level, taking a few shots. He’s finished after all.
“Oh, I see~ Is this a challenge? Don’t worry your pretty little head, I have some samples!” he responded with a smirk, triumphantly pulling out a small box, he opened it and motioned it towards you. “Pick one, they’re all good.” he shrugged, trying to hide his buzzing energy.
You looked at him with a judgey look, before dropping your camera to hand around your neck, and grab one with a sigh. If he stops pestering you, then you’ll totally eat one. He watched intently as you popped the mini chocolate into your mouth. You tried to keep your expression emotionless, but honestly it was one of the best chocolates you’ve had The outer shell was just the right amount of bitterness, and inside, was filled with a silky smooth texture, the sweetness perfectly balancing out the bitter outside. Your eyes were slightly wide as you ate it, no longer aware of his prying eyes, smirking slyly as you enjoyed the chocolate.
“Sooooo, how’s my rating? Five star review?” he hummed, removing you from your trance. You hummed, finishing the chocolate before shrugging.
“It was decent, i’ve had better. I’d say a 6/10.” you pursed your lips together, putting on a neutral face. That was one of the fattest lies you’ve ever told someone.
“Liar, that was the face of someone thoroughly enjoying my chocolates.” he pouted, furrowing his brows as he looked down at you, taking a step closer. His voice lowered, almost like he was telling you a secret.
“I’ll just have to bring you some better chocolates next time!” he hummed, dusting off his gloved hands, as if he had finished a hard task. He grinned—he loved a challenge.
Your eyes were mid-roll when something about his expression made you pause. You turned, brows furrowed, as Tendou simply grinned.
“Next time?” you spoke, your voice holding more bad than good.
He smiled, man you must really hate him! He laughed softly, bending down a bit.
“Yes, I do believe that we’ll cross paths again. Y’know, fate and all that Jazz.” Tendou grinned, tucking the little box back into one of his pockets. You rolled your eyes at him, taking a step back.
“Yeah, I don’t think so.” you spoke plainly before glancing around, and smiling sweetly. “Looks like i’ve gotta go, nice seeing you.” you spoke before rushing off, leaving him at the table.
He stood up, placing a hand on his hip as he watched you leave. Oh, he was definitely intrigued, and he was definitely enjoying this. He had that stupid smirk on his face, as he watched you leave, before turning back to rearrange his chocolates. Maybe you’d come back and take more pictures.
You walked around the venue, appreciating how beautiful it was. They were definitely rich, but it made taking pictures easier. The more decorations, the more shots you could take that were satisfactory. You walked alongside the garden, catching a glimpse of the dance beginning. Perfect! Shots of the groom and bride dancing were always gushed at, and motion shots were your speciality.
You smiled as you settled around, moving every now and then to readjust the shot. You found some pretty good shots, and as you zoomed in a bit to the bride, your lips curled into a smile. Perfect. You took a small breath, clicking a few shots. You smiled eagerly, glancing at the photos.
The bride was laughing, bringing out her beautiful smile, and the groom stared lovingly into her eyes. It was so adorable, you smiled as you glanced at the shot. It was perfect.
“That one’s really good.” a voice, no, an annoying voice said from close behind you. You glanced up, and to your dismay you saw that stupid smirk and red buzz cut.
“Shouldn’t you be attending your chocolates?” you asked, not trying to hide the annoyance in your voice. He placed a hand in his chin, as if he was thinking.
“Nahhh, I finished! Done until they start getting empty. Might wanna take pictures before people start eating them.” he suggested with his hands on his hips, and honestly he was right. It wasn’t lunch yet, and once everyone went inside, the beautiful display of chocolates would be ruined. You sighed and shrugged.
“Yeah, I guess.” you hummed, not wanting to give him acknowledgment, or the fact that he was right. After you took a few more pictures of people dancing, you walked toward the building which held all the food.
What bothered you was that Tendou was following you. Great. This random dude won’t leave you alone, and he’s weird. You tried to ignore him, and once you reached the table you were reminded how nice it looked. You began taking pictures, moving in various positions to create the perfect shot. He simply watched you, not seeming to be bothered when you’d catch his stare. Once you finished you sighed and looked at him.
“Is there a reason you keep hovering over me like a stupid puppy?” you asked, and he laughed at your words. You didn’t think it was funny.
“Not at all, just wanted to see your pictures.” he smiled, eyes studying you. You rolled your eyes, and he seemed to be amused by your attitude. You removed the strap that hung around your neck, and flipped through the images of the chocolate with Tendou watching. He hummed as you got to a certain one, and spoke.
“That one’s really good.” he complimented, you nodded in response, it was the best one in the bunch. You feel him glancing at you, so you met his eyes, raising a brow.
“I just realized, I forgot to ask for your name, photographer-chan.” he looked at you expectantly.
You couldn’t decide what was worse, him calling you “photographer-chan” or actually telling him your real name. You grimaced at the nickname, and he grinned at your reaction.
“Don’t call me that, it’s stupid.” you huffed, avoiding the question. You pointed your camera elsewhere, strapping it back around your neck and raising it towards your face. You refocused some shots before he continued to talk.
“I’m Satori Tendou, you should come over to my shop.” he paused, as if he was eyeing you again.
“I’d rather not.” you spoke, your eyes away from him, and focused on the camera. He persisted, and kept talking as if he didn’t even pick up the signals that you were not interested. Can he even take a hint?
“Tell you what, if you take some shots of my shop for some new advertisement, i’ll pay you with some chocolates!” he spoke with a grin, leaning a bit forward next to you. You sighed, putting the camera down and glancing at him. He was stupidly close to your face and you shifted away from him. Jeez, does this dude even know the concept of personal space? It’s like he doesn’t even care.
“Not happening, plus…your chocolates aren’t even good.” you lied, almost smiling in amusement as he placed a hand against his heart, a dramatic look in his face.
“You wound my fragile heart with your words!” he pouted, and you remained indifferent. You glanced at him, placing a hand on your hip. This guy…
“Oh my gosh you’re so annoying.” you mumbled under your breath, averting your eyes from him. Anywhere but him. It’s almost like his actions were embarrassing. He definitely was funny…that’s it though.
You sighed before glancing at him, narrowing your eyes slightly as you pointed a finger at his chest.
“Look, I have a job to do here, and so do you. I don’t want to get a bad rep cause of some random guy.” you huffed, and he seemed to shut up. He looked…intrigued though. Great. So this guy likes getting bashed on? Freaky. He grinned at your words, leaning in. Your finger made contact with his chest from how close he leaned in. Again, no awareness of personal space. Jeez. As he leaned in, you caught a small hint of cocoa. It was strangely addicting, with the combined smell of other flavors like caramel or coffee. You quickly snapped out of those thoughts, his next words bringing you back to reality.
“Where’s the fun in that? Cmon, being boring won’t give you a good reputation either.” he said, almost teasingly. He looked at you like this was fun to him. Grinning with a glint in his eyes you couldn’t quite out your finger on. You moved your hand away, placing a hand on your hip.
“Don’t really care.” you hummed, shrugging. Your eyes found a decent setting for photoshoot, and you left. No goodbye, cause let’s be real, he’ll come back anyway.
Eventually, people started to pile in for food. The food looked incredibly delicious, and by the amount and variety there was, you were sure that these people were filthy rich. Man, you’d probably marry for money too if you got stuff like this! Kidding…mostly. The food consisted of mainly appetizers, but it was insane. There were so many, and the variety was what made it amazing! It ranged from savory appetizers like onigiri, quiches and mini sandwiches to deserts like fruits, chocolate and puddings. It was a great opportunity for pictures. Especially when the food looked great!
Over the few minutes of peace you got, you were able to get some decent shots. The line died down after a grueling 30 minutes, and you were finally able to sit down and eat yourself. The food looked amazing! A voice that called you rather enthusiastically was less amazing. You sighed, turning your head to find someone walking up to you.
Tendou waved his hand at you with a grin, smoothly pulled a chair out to take a seat next to you. Of course he had food. Oh no. Was he expecting to sit next to…you?
“Sorry, the seats taken…” you smiled softly at him, and he shrugged.
“It’s fine, i’ll just warm it up for them while they’re gone. No biggie, I know i’m nice.” he grinned, eating some of his food. His eyes missed the annoyed expression, and glided down to your plate. His grin widened as his eyes met none other than his delicious chocolates. Slowly, his eyes crawled back up to you with a despicable grin.
“Someone liked my chocolates, hm~?” he hummed, leaning against the palm of his hand. You slid your place away, like it’d somehow make the chocolates disappear.
“I’m just hungry.” you half assed an excuse and he just laughed, shaking his head. “Why are you sitting here anyway? There’s so many seats.” you protested, turning your gaze to him.
He simply shrugged, taking another bite of his food which delayed his response. After the comically long pause, he spoke “well, you looked lonely.” Thats it? This guy is driving you insane.
You didn’t protest further. Partially because you didn’t have enough energy, and because you didn’t despise his presence. After dinner, you met up with the brides parents to discuss the photos, because the bride left to their honeymoon. They loved the few photos you showed them, and discussed payment.
“Thank you so much, it was honestly a pleasure to be here. Have a good night!” you thanked the parents and waved them off before heading back to your car. Tendou was still there, loading up his truck. He shoved the last box in, wiped his hands on his apron, and gave you an obnoxiously big wave. You gave a half-hearted one back, hoping he couldn’t see the ghost of a smile tugging at your lips. He just had to leave the same time as you. It made sense, but you just wanted to be mad at him. Annoyingly persistent till the very end.
You popped your trunk and started loading your gear, glancing once more at the venue. It had been beautiful—the kind of gig that reminded you why you loved your job. You slung your camera bag over your shoulder, thinking briefly about those photos. The chocolate table. The garden shots. That one candid of the bride laughing like she’d never been happier.
You sat in the driver’s seat, flipping through the camera roll. Your best shot, hands down, was the one with Tendou’s display. Naturally. Of course he would be part of your portfolio now. You sighed, biting your thumbnail as you drafted the email to your boss, attaching the best shots. You’d send that email once you got home, but for now… Your eyes drifted to his truck, his logo on display. Maybe you could search his store…
For a second, just a second, your fingers hovered over the search button, debating if you should search his shop. Just to, you know, see what it looked like. You rolled your eyes at yourself.
“Absolutely not,” you muttered, shutting your laptop. You’d rather not see him again.
...At least not so soon.
Sweetest Picture
summary; an unexpected meeting at a wedding results in a very bad impression. What’s worse is the job that follows after the wedding, which you’d normally be happy about, but a certain person completely ruins the experience. At least…that’s what you told yourself.

Part 1
warnings: tooth rotting fluff, Atsumu and Osamu fighting, reader gets words wrong sometimes, some bullying in later chapters, part 2 coming soon, 2.3k words, probably has mistakes
You pursed your lips as yet again, you had gotten lost in the crowded schoolyard. The students talking in a language you didn’t understand well didn’t help either. Your parents had randomly decided to move to Japan and enroll you in a difficult study of the language for 3 months before tossing you in school. Yeah, you still suck at the language. Though your knowledge is well enough to converse with students, none of them had stopped to answer your question. Seemingly too busy to say a few words.
You entered the second building and stopped mid way through the hall. You stared at the class schedule sheet and tilted your head. Your expression remained very confused. Eyes tracing the words over and over again. You were at the right place…right? Your eyes remained on the paper and continued walking. That was, until you bumped into a person. Neither of you fell on the ground, it was a rather awkward position. You had your head shoved in their chest and was tilted slightly towards them. You immediately took a step backwards and bowed softly.
“I’m so sorry- I didn’t see…you.” You raised your head and your face immediately fell. A tall and very scary looking man was standing there. With your mouth agape, you took another step backwards before you put a determined look on your face. You can do this! Maybe he will help?
“Uhm…i’m new…can I have…help?” You said slowly, the words still didn’t roll off your tongue smoothly. Having to think before speaking always.
He raised an eyebrow, shocked by your question but nodded.
“Yeah, sure.” He hummed and bent down to your level, peering at your schedule. He hummed again and straightened his posture.
“Your first period is with me, so i’ll take you there.” He spoke softly as he turned around. He beckoned for you to follow as he started to walk down the hallways. You stayed beside him, occasionally glancing up at him. He wasn’t really scary, he was pretty nice. He had gray silver hair, the dark brown undercut hinting that it was dyed. He was also very strong, at least in your eyes. He had visible muscles and a nice jawline too.
“We’re here.” He announced and turned to you. Giving you a once over before he took his hand out.
“I’m Miya Osamu.” He introduced himself, a small smile growing as you took his hand.
“I’m [Name]!” You smiled, happy someone was talking to you seriously. He said your name under his breath, almost testing it out.
“Let’s go inside, okay?” He said in a gentle tone. You nodded and both of you walked inside the classroom, already filled with students. You unfortunately did not get a seat next to him, but was close enough for comfort.
The teacher eventually arrived in the classroom and began to teach. You payed very close attention, mainly because it was difficult to understand some words he would say.
“Uhm…excuse me?” You whispered to the person next to you. The girl looked at you and tilted her head.
“What?” She raised a brow.
“What was the word he said…minute ago?” You asked, though it wasn’t really a coherent sentence. She looked at you weirdly for a second before speaking.
“Relation?” She asked, and you nodded. She sighed and turned back to listen, while you scribbled down the word, hoping to get half of the notes right.
As you were writing notes down frantically, the lunch bell rang. Your head shot up and you frowned, stuffing your materials in your backpack. Once finished, you saw Osamu at your desk.
“Want to eat together?” He asked, his hands full with his bento box.
A huge smile spread across your face and you nodded your head.
“Yes! I’d amazing love too!” You said, the smile still present as you grabbed your homemade lunch.
He quirked a brow at your word choice and smiled, chuckling under his breath. You followed him to the cafeteria, where you both sat down at a random spot. He opened his bento box, which revealed onigiri and some vegetable sides. It looked really good.
“Did you make that, Miya-san?” You asked, pointing at the onigiri’s. He nodded his head and placed one on your boxed lunch.
“Try it.” He said before grabbing one for himself. You were about to protest, but honestly it looked really good. Picking it up gently, you took a bite. Your eyes immediately lit up and a smile spread across your lips.
“It’s really good!” You gushed, taking another bite. He smiled in response, before someone yelled his name. He sighed, his smile disappearing as he ran a hand through his hair.
“Oi! ‘Samu! where’s my lunch?” A blonde guy yelled, who looked really similar to Osamu. The blondes eyes traveled to you and he paused for a moment, before looking back at Osamu with a smirk.
“Who’s this? Eating with a fan? How scandalous!” He gasped dramatically, placing a hand on his chest. Osamu glared at him before speaking.
“She’s new, a transfer.” He explained.
“[Name], this is my brother Atsumu…” Osamu said with a sigh, he didn’t sound very happy.
“Twin brother! Twin!” Atsumu corrected him loudly, as if it made a huge difference.
“Nice to meet you, Atsumu.” You smiled. He walked over to you, surprising you a bit. He placed a hand on his chin as he studied you, looking you up and down.
“You should be our volleyball club manager.” He said bluntly. You furrows your eyebrows, what was that?
“What’s a volleyball manager?” You asked. Atsumu opened his mouth to speak before Osamu interrupted him.
“No, ‘Tsumu. She’s new. She needs time to adjust and shouldn’t have to worry about this.” He frowned. Did his brother always make him this angry?
“Why not? She’s perfect!” He continued speaking in a hushed yell, though it didn’t really work out. The two continued to banter and you could only think of one solution. Why not apply yourself to something you know nothing about? Sounds like a great plan.
“I’ll be the manager.” You spoke, causing the twins to look at you. Atsumu looked happy while Osamu shook his head at you.
“I think it’ll be fun. It’ll be okay, Osamu.” You smiled, as if to ease whatever worries he had. He let out a sigh and Atsumu grinned, grabbing your wrist.
“Alright, follow me.” He snickered as he dragged you to who knows where. You didn’t really get the chance to follow him, as he was dragging you the whole time. He brought you to a table filled with more guys?
“Guys, this is our new manager!” Atsumu stated proudly, placed his hands on his hips and closing his eyes to add emphasis. You stood there and shyly waved. This was super awkward. One dude stood up and bowed to you.
“I’m Kita Shinsuke, the team captain. Thank you for applying yourself.” He said in a gentle voice. You smiled at the greeting and bowed back at him. He’s really nice.
“I’m [Name].” You introduced yourself, the other guys nodding in response.
“Can you stay after school from now on? We have practice then.” Atsumu asked excitedly, he sounded really happy about a manager. You nodded, why not? It’ll show your parents that you’re applying yourself to the new school.
“Great! ‘Samu can show you where since he’s in your class.” He grinned before practically sprinting to his seat that was only a few feet away. You turned to go to your seat, but Osamu was right behind you.
“Oh!” You said awkwardly as you almost bumped into him again.
“You know, you didn’t have to.” He said softly as you walked back to your food.
“Hm, yeah. I want to though.” You nodded, assuring yourself this was the right decision. He hummed at your response, and you both reached the table.
“What does a manager do?” You asked, trying to sound nonchalant about it. He looked at you for a second before turning his head and chuckling a bit.
“They schedule matches, make notes of the players and help clean the gym. Nothing too bad.” He said slowly, hoping you would be able to understand all that.
“Oh, okay!” You hummed, though you did not understand it all. Japanese was hard…
The bell rang which meant classes, so you and Osamu packed your lunch up and walked back to the classroom.
“How long have you played volleyball?” You asked him, walking through the hallway.
“Oh, i’ve been playing it for a while. Since me and ‘Tsumu were kids.” He smiled.
“He’s better than me, he’s really talented.” He explained, glancing at you.
“Woah.” Was your response as you turned into the classroom and settled back down.
The rest of class was very boring, it was just stupid note taking, and your hand hurt. You shook your wrist, as if hoping it would alleviate the pain. Sadly, it did not.
The teacher than announced class was over, which made you smile. Thank goodness. Gathering the few materials you still had out, you turned to Osamu who was looking at you. You slid your bag on your shoulder and made your way towards him.
“Ready?” He asked, placing his books in his bag before standing up.
“Mhm.” You hummed in response, and he led the way. He led you out of the building and along a path, leading to gym buildings. The doors opened upon Osamu pushing them, and a few members were already there.
“Im gonna change into gym clothes, go talk to Aran or Suna. They won’t bite.” He explained, before exiting the doors you both entered from. You warily glanced at the two team members before taking a deep breath.
Walking over to the two, you waved slightly as you approached them.
“Hey, I didn’t get to introduce myself. I’m Aran Ojiro.” He smiled, holding his hand out. You happily shook it, returning the smile. The guy next to him sighed and spoke up.
“I’m Suna Rintaro.” He said tiredly, as if introducing himself was energy draining.
“Nice to meet you two. Do you know where the coach is?” You asked, and the two looked around. Suna pointing whole Aran voiced it once they spotted him.
“He’s over there.” You turned your head and thanked both of them before you jogged over to the coach.
“Hello, i’m the new manager, [Name].” You spoke, getting his attention. He raised a brow, before he sighed, rolling his eyes.
“Listen, if you were a manager you would have a form filled out for me. I know becoming the manager just to see the twins is a great idea it-“ He droned on, as if he had given this speech many times. Though he was interrupted by someone behind you.
“Hey coach! Yeah, I hired her on the spot.” Atsumu walked up beside you, placing a hand on your head.
“Atsumu, you can’t just do that-“ The coach groaned, a hand running down his face.
“Here, how about this. I get a form and…uh..” He gestured towards you. “You can fill it out.”
“Okay! Thanks!” You smiled and Atsumu nodded in approval. Though the coach did give him a deadly side eye.
You sat down on the bleachers, pulling out a clipboard the coach so graciously gave you. Writing the names down of the people on the team, you tapped the pencil on your chin as you watched them practice. Whatever they were doing, seemed right. You put a purposeful check next to their name, smiling at your hard work.
“What are those checks for?” The coach asked suddenly, you didn’t even know he was there!
“Uhm, they’re there if they met the qualifications I had set this week.” You said, smiling proudly at the smart statement you had just made.
“Which are…?” He raised a brow, clearly expecting an answer. Uh oh, that’s a problem. You don’t know a thing about volleyball.
“I…I was thinking…oh! I was thinking of revealing them at the end of the week, to show what the players did well on.” You explained. He seemed impressed with your answer, letting out a hum as he crossed his arms.
“Good.” He said gruffly. He then pulled out papers and handed them to you.
“Fill these out and give them to me tomorrow.” He said before walking away.
You sighed, very relieved that the situation went well. As you looked back, you noticed Osamu glancing at you every now and then. Once you caught his eye, you gave him a little wave, which he returned of course. You then tucked the papers way into your bag, making a mental note to fill them out later.
Being a manager wasn’t so bad. Well, you shouldn’t say that when it’s your first day. As practice ended, you jogged over from your spot towards Osamu and Atsumu. You followed their actions, and began picking up balls and throwing them into the basket. Once the gym was all cleaned up, you began gathering your bags.
“Hey, want me to walk you home?” You heard Osamu speak behind you.
“Us. Have us walk her home ‘Samu.” Atsumu corrected.
You turned around to face them and nodded with a grateful smile.
“Sure! That’s very kindly.” You replied, though Atsumu bursted out laughing at your reply. Osamu shot him a glare before he sighed and looked towards you.
“Kind. Not kindly, though that does sound like a better word.” He said softly. Osamu paused before he jabbed Atsumu in the side, causing him to yelp in pain.
“I-I’m sorry [Name]…” He looked down with a frown. You giggled at that and shook your head.
“It’s fine.”
The two of you then began walking towards your house. Finding out that your houses weren’t far from each other. Only a few houses down. As you arrived at your house you thanked both of them.
“It’s no problem! We are gentleman.” Atsumu said proudly, a stupid smirk on his face. Osamu rolled his eyes and waved at you.
“Take care.” Osamu said before walking off with Atsumu.
Maybe being a manager wasn’t a terrible idea after all?
Accidental Confession
Yamaguchi Tadashi x gn!reader
warnings: idk, fluff, takes place in HS, reader confesses through a note, wholesome, kinda short? 1k words
Holding the precious note close to your chest, you walked through the outside corridors of Karasuno high school in search of the volleyball gym. As you walked closer to a certain building, you could hear balls slamming onto the floor. That was a good sign. Your main goal was to slip the note into Yamaguchi’s locker without him, and preferably nobody else noticing.
You peered into the gym to confirm whether it was the right place or not. Luckily it was, which lead you to the next door over. The locker room. You had an idea of where his locker was, though his backpack leaning against it conforming your ideas. Glancing around the room, you hurriedly slid the note through the crack before practically running out.
The next day was absolute torture. Sitting in class, believing every glance Yamaguchi gave you was filled with judgement and hatred. Yes, it is possible for you to be overreacting, but he hasn’t said anything yet. Maybe he didn’t read the note? Or worse, he doesn’t like you back and will never talk to you again.
As class ended, you hurriedly gathered your materials and shoved them inside your bag. You bolted out the room, but was stopped after you saw Tsukishima, Yamaguchi’s friend, glaring down at you. He waved you over and you hesitantly walked over.
Your mind raced with thoughts, what happened? Why does he want to talk to you all of a sudden? Did Yamaguchi tell Tsuki about the note?
“Oi…” Tsukishima brought you out of your thoughts.
“What is it, Tsukishima?” You questioned, your fingers nervously toying with your school uniform. He sighed and ran a hand through his hair before he looked down at you. He reached inside his pocket and pulled out your note.
You looked mortified. Was Yamaguchi so disgusted by it that he handed it to Tsukishima?! You were close to death at this point.
“Look, I appreciate the time it took you to make this…but I don’t feel the same.” Tsuki explained.
“Huh?” You blurted out. What does he mean?
“That note wasn’t for you. It was for Yamaguchi.” You said simply, though embarrassment slowly made its way to your cheeks. You had put it in the wrong locker. You should’ve thought of a better way to give it to him.
Tsukishima looked confused, he furrowed his eyebrows but soon smirked.
“Well, you put it in the wrong locker.” He sneered. Duh, of course you did. He didn’t have to point it out. You pouted and crossed your arms. Was he really teasing you at a time like this?
“Im sorry, okay? Can you at least tell me where his locker is?” You frowned, reaching your hand out for the note. He dropped it in your hand, looking up at the ceiling. He placed his hand on his chin, as if he was in thought.
“Fine.” He sighed, as if he was accepting a tiresome task. You rolled your eyes, he’s so dramatic.
“Just follow me.” Tsukishima then turned around and walked in long strides. You followed him till you entered the locker room next to the gym.
“It’s this one, don’t mess up this time.” He pointed to the locker with that stupid grin on his face.
“Okay, I get it…” You grumbled. He walked away, most likely to the gym for volleyball practice. You sighed out loud and walked up to Yamaguchi’s locker. You hoped it was.
“I swear if he’s lying…” You mumbled under your breath, slipping the note into the locker.
“[Name]? What are you doing…?” A voice startled you and you jumped back from the locker. It was Yamaguchi.
“Oh-! Uhm…nothing!” You laughed nervously, your eyes widening. What if he saw?
“Okay.” He hummed. A small smile adorned his lips before his eyes lightened up a bit.
“Oh! That’s right, Tsuki told me that you had something to give me!” He smiled. Most likely he had forgotten momentarily once he saw you slipping something in his locker.
“Oh, he did?” You laughed, though there was malice behind it. That stupid bean pole…!
“Actually…” You mumbled, your eyes shifting between him and the locker. He tilted his head before he stepped closer.
“Oh? You put it in my locker? It’s okay! I’ll get it.” He grinned, his fingers twisting at the lock. Your mouth opened slightly, oh no. He wasn’t supposed to read it with you in the room! This is so embarrassing.
He hummed as he grabbed it, tilting his head as he opened it. It had…hearts? He read the note, his lips parting and eyebrows raising. His cheeks flushed with color as he finished the love note.
You were beyond embarrassed, eyes looking everywhere except him.
“You really feel this way?” He asked, though the question was stupid, you nodded. He stepped a bit closer, giving you enough courage to look at him. He was smiling slightly, his cheeks flushed with pink.
“I do too. I really like you.” He said softly, a hint of nervousness seeping out. You smiled at his response. It lifted a huge weight off your shoulders.
“I’m glad.” You grinned, it was the only thing you could think of to say.
“So…do you want to maybe…go out this Saturday?” He moved his hand to nervously scratch his neck.
“I’d love that.” You nodded. Well, this worked out perfectly. You were still going to murder Tsuki later, though.
“Great! I mean, that’s nice. I-I’ll see you then…” He trailed off, glancing at the door.
You shook your head with a smile before giving him a gentle kiss on the cheek.
“See you there, Tadashi.” You said softly before exiting the room. You tried to act nonchalant, but your cheeks burned red. Why did you do that? Oh well, it’s over now.
Meanwhile, Yamaguchi almost had a heart attack. Standing there for a few moments before a huge, dopey smile spread across his face. He was definitely teased by Tsukishima at practice.
Angels have green hair

Angelic. That was the first word that came to mind when you first saw Yamaguchi Tadashi.
When you met him in elementary school, saw him again in high school, and now. Now as you stand, watching him afar, the flowers making him look as pretty as ever.
Work had you drained, wanting nothing more than to slip into the confines of your ever so comfy bed. Wanting to feel the cozy pajamas and blanket you had just recently bought. Your thoughts were rudely interrupted by a piece of paper blowing onto your foot. Scrunching your nose, you pick it up and skim the words. Oh? Botanical garden? Sounds…oddly comforting.
You took the paper as a sign that you needed to go. Nodding your head at the thought as you walked towards the address. It seemed sketchy, but then again you assume everything is. The entrance is cozy and cute. With a decorated arch with a sign hanging. “Open from 9-10 every day! 5$ at the booth.”
You hummed, it wasn’t expensive. Digging through your bag as you walked toward the front, you pulled out five bucks. Handing the cash to the kind lady, you walked inside the gates.
It was breathtaking, seeing the variety of flowers and colors. The vibrant and dull contrast, paired with a fountain and fairy lights topped it off. Awe struck through you, taking a moment to just appreciate the amazing set up. You then walked along the grey stone path, eyes dancing from flower to flower.
The wonderful scent of peony filled your nose as you turned a new corner. Bending down, you delicately ran your fingertips along the flower petal before leaning in to breathe in its scent. Flowers always had a comforting feeling, especially when enjoyed on a late afternoon.
You stood up, dusting yourself to rid anything collected in your clothes. The continued walk through the peaceful garden was nice; bending down every now and then to inspect another flower that peaked your interest. You spotted another fountain up a head, deciding to walk closer. The adorable fountains were a wonderful touch. Walking closer, you noticed something behind the fountain. Or was it someone? To cure your curiosity, you cautiously walked around to peek at the obscure figure.
Then you saw him. Yamaguchi Tadashi. The one you had loved in high school; admittedly still having feelings even now. The one who you had always believed in, and looked up too.
He still had a similar hairstyle, though it was trimmed a bit shorter. He was now much taller and muscular, though he still had that kind look on his face.
The setting made him just as angelic as you remembered, a warm feeling rushing through you as you set eyes on him again.
“Tadashi…?” The words came out of your lips before you could stop them. His brows furrowed before turning to your direction. Once he saw you, his eyes lit up, a sense of familiarity rushing through them.
“[Name]?” He said, his voice soft and gentle. He took a few steps closer to you, almost as if he was in disbelief of seeing you here. Then again, it was a surprise to say the least, seeing him here out of all places and at the same time.
“God, it’s been ages! How’ve you been?” You smiled and walked a bit closer to him.
He sighed, a smile following after as he placed a hand behind his neck. He had traces of hard work, and tiredness around his eyes.
“I’ve been busy, an athletic trainer isn’t as easy as I imagined.” He joked, his tone cheery. The fairy lights strung across the trees brought out his hidden facial features he had developed from age. You didn’t stare for long.
“I can imagine. Must be nice to be finally settled!” You said with a grin, having heard from Tsukishima that Yamaguchi had landed the job he always wanted. Now keeping him from hopping around the country.
“Yup, me and Yuna have been settling great in the new house.” He said, a smile adorning his face as he mentioned his wife.
The familiarity you had with him for a moment left once he brought up the other girl.
“I’m happy for you two.” You said, though it was a lie. Feeling awful for how selfish you felt, though your heart was telling you otherwise. He was happy with her though, and that part did make you happy.
Not much was said after that, apparently he had to run. His wife had asked him for groceries; Yamaguchi chuckling and blaming the weird food choices on pregnancy cravings. You laughed along, though you felt sick.
He waved a goodbye and jogged off. You stood there, wanting nothing more than to lay down and cry. Love was so stupid, it made you feel stupid. Years and years, you had hoped he would want you. Love you like he did with her.
But she was his, and you were not.
Walking back to your lonely apartment, you felt a certain sort of emptiness. The sickness in your stomach never going away, the urge to drop to your knees and cry never left. You would never be with him in the way you wanted, never. You had to accept that, even if it hurt.
One thing you would always know, was your selfishness and jealousy.
Jealous of the woman who was blessed with a green haired angel in her life.
