immediately, his body shoots up, eyes wide with fear as his head whips around to find you. his gaze lands on yours, and upon realizing the lack of urgency, he flops back onto the bed. “it’s one in the morning.”
“i have a question,” you begin, nudging his chest.
“can it wait six more hours?”
“no.”
he groans. he folds the pillow over his ears and rolls onto his side, “what.”
you spoon yourself behind him, snickering at the groan he lets out, “do you think i’d be good like. in musical theater?”
he lets out a soft laugh- either out of amusement or disbelief, you’re not quite sure.
“no. go back to sleep.”
“why!”
he huffs before rolling onto his back, arm extending to wrap around you, “you break glass when you sing and you need me to order for you at restaurants- you want to go on stage and sing?”
“hey,” you pout.
he sighs through his nose, pressing his fingers into his eyes as you burrow into his side, “okay- is doing musical theater something you’re interested in?”
you shrug, “like no, but it would be nice to have your support.”
“and if you ever genuinely want to do musical theater, i will give it to you. until then, don’t ask me silly questions at one in the morning.” his arm curls around you, fingers gently rubbing up and down your shoulder. “never ends well for either of us.”
“i bet atsumu would be supportive,” you whine.
he offers you a hum, “there’s a reason why atsumu is still single- his inability to say no to ridiculousness gets him in trouble.”
“so now i’m being ridiculous?” you hiss.
kiyoomi’s eyes fly open. his head slowly turns to face you, smiling nervously when you blink unamused at him. "i love you?"
A typical lazy afternoon in Inarizaki High’s gym is all about the sound of volleyballs hitting the floor, which echoed around the court, accompanied by the squeak of shoes and the occasional shout of “Nice receive!” or “Out!” The boys’ volleyball team was in the middle of their usual practice, but if you asked anyone, most of them were only half-focused.
Why?
Because all eyes kept flicking to the corner of the gym, where Suna Rintarou and you were having one of your typical interactions—if you could even call them “typical.”
“Rin, you forgot your towel again,” you sighed, walking up to him with a pink towel neatly folded in your hands. You stood just outside the boundary line, your expression a mix of fondness and exasperation.
Suna turned his head lazily, his eyes softening at the sight of you. “Did I?” he said, voice low and amused. He made no move to take the towel, so you huffed and tossed it lightly at his chest.
“You’d forget your head if it wasn’t attached to your neck,” you muttered.
“Maybe,” he said, catching the towel and draping it around his shoulders with a knowing smile on his face, “but that’s what you’re for, right?”
A chorus of muffled snickers erupted from the sidelines. Aran tried to hide his grin behind a water bottle, while Atsumu didn’t even bother. “Man, just date already!” Atsumu hollered across the court. Osamu smacked the back of his twin’s head for that, telling him to mind his own damn business.
“Shut up, Miya,” Suna called back, his expression unreadable—but the faint pink at the tips of his ears betrayed him. You just rolled your eyes, though a quiet snicker betrayed you.
“Seriously, Rin,” you said, lowering your voice so only he could hear. “You’d lose everything if I didn’t remind you.”
“Not everything,” he murmured, leaning down slightly. “Just everything except you.”
That earned a visible pause from you. Because, wow, since when did your socially constipated childhood friend suddenly become this forward? Did he hit his head and get a concussion? “You—” you started, evidently caught off guard, but he’d already walked off to rejoin the line-up for serve drills, the smallest smirk ghosting across his face by now.
Damn him.
As practice continued, you busied yourself by the benches, flipping through your notes for class. But your attention kept drifting to the court—specifically to one tall middle blocker whose usually stoic face softened every time he caught you watching. When your eyes met, he raised a brow as if asking, “What?” and you responded with a tiny shrug. You didn’t need words. Everyone else, though, was losing their minds.
And it’s in those small, fleeting interactions that have your stomach overflowing with butterflies and that have your head spinning from a billion thoughts per second.
“Are they or are they not together?” Osamu whispered to Kita during a water break.
Kita gave his usual calm shrug. “They act like they are. But we can’t assume.”
“Yeah, but no one’s said anything,” Aran added, shaking his head. “It’s like s’me kind of suspense drama.”
Atsumu grinned, leaning on his knees. “Bet ya hundred yen they’re in the talkin’ stage.”
Osamu shrugged. “Sure.”
Meanwhile, Suna wiped sweat off his forehead and walked over to you, who instantly handed him a cold bottle of water without even looking up from your notebook. As if it’s second nature. A routine at this point in time.
“You read my mind,” he said, accepting it.
“You’re predictable,” you replied.
“Or you just know me too well.”
“That, too,” you said, a faint smile slipping through.
For a moment, you let the silence dance comfortably between you two. The noise of the gym faded in the background, and it was just you—for some reason, in the midst of everything that’s happening, it’s just you two—and Suna, who casually sat next to you as he took a breath.
“You eaten yet?” you asked quietly, still not looking up.
“Not yet,” he said.
“You should. Don’t skip dinner again.”
He tilted his head, studying your face. “You worry too much.”
“Someone has to,” you said, closing your notebook with a soft snap. “You’ll be all gloomy if you don’t eat. Or get dizzy. It’s either of those two.”
“I’m always gloomy.”
“Don’t make it your whole personality now,” you laughed, “but at least when you’ve eaten, you’re less of a zombie.”
Suna smiled—not the taunting smile everyone knew, but a small, genuine one that made itself known in his lips. “Then maybe I’ll eat, but only if you eat with me.”
You blinked at him, startled. “What?”
“Dinner. After practice.”
“Are you asking me out?” you teased, but you couldn’t deny that it felt as though your heart was about to leap out of your throat.
He shrugged his shoulders, sighing quietly. “If that’s what it sounds like, then yeah.”
The gym erupted again—because, of course, everyone had been eavesdropping. Atsumu practically whooped, “FINALLY!” As Aran covered his face, muttering, “We’re never hearing the end of this.”
Suna took one good look at them and decided he did not hear nor see them whatsoever. “Let’s go eat after practice,” he says again to you, softer, much more sure this time. “You like that ramen place down the block, right?”
You sighed, defeated, though your eyes were warm at the fact that he remembered that even though it was a passing thought. “Uh huh, but you’re paying.”
“Anything for my favorite reminder.”
And if anyone at Inarizaki had doubts about whether you two were dating before, they didn’t after that day—because Suna Rintarou was smiling more often, and you were and will always be the reason. They were sure.
Because, after all, he had his eyes only for you and you alone.

Hinata Shoyo:
Originally you planned to watch a movie with Hinata at his house, in his room.
Instead hot and heavy breaths filled the four walls, along with the faint sound of the long forgotten movie playing from his old laptop. He was palming your waist, keeping you sat on his thigh while his tongue slipped past your lips. You kissed him back, tugging at his hair. The muscles of his thigh flexed underneath you with every rock of your hips, just right. Almost like his body knew exactly what you needed. Tilting his head up by gripping his jaw, you kissed him deeper. More more and more. You needed him more than anything. "please Sho" you gently whimpered against his lips. "Shhh" he shushed you, pressing his lips against yours again. You tugged his hair, making him jerk his head back. He breathed heavily, looking up at you with nothing more than need. His hands slipped under your shirt, making your skin tingle at the sudden warmth of his palms over your bare hips. Your arms wrapped around his shoulders, pulling him closer. He started kissing your neck, while you continued grinding down on his thigh. Soft moans and breaths left you. His palms rolled over your hips, moving you in his own rhythm suddenly. "Sho- f-fuck!" You gasped.
Suddenly the door of his room burst open, making both of you freeze.
"Shoyo! Have you seen my pencil case?" Natsu asked, peeking inside. "No, I haven't." He answered her, with a groan, keeping his forehead against your shoulder, probably to hide his flustered face. There goes your moment.
Suna Rintarou:
He had been waiting all day, watching you pass him in the halls quickly between classes. But now he finally had you to himself. The two of you were in an empty classroom, school had finished, you should be fine. Suna was sure of that, just like you. He stood between your legs, kissing you as you sat on a desk. Your hands were tangled in his hair, tugging and pulling him closer as you pleased. He hummed against your lips, his tongue slipping into your mouth while you moaned. Your tongue pushed against his, while your legs wrapped around his hips, pulling him even closer. Suna felt himself growing dizzy, partly because he reallly fucking needed to breathe. He squeezed your thigh, a sign for you to ease up. Relucantly you pulled away, watching him pant and looking at the pretty blush dusting his cheeks. "You're so pretty" He muttered, while you pulled him closer by the tie of his uniform. A smile stretched across your lips, while your fingers loosened his tie. "Kiss me again" And who was he to deny you? His hand started wandering up your thigh in the middle of your kiss, making you whimper.
"YOOO!" A familiar voice boomed through the empty classroom. Your eyes widened in shock while a huge sense of dread and annyoance washed over you. You probably overheard the door opening. Suna didn't even seem fazed anymore. You peeked at the loud twin over Suna's shoulder, your brows furrowing. "You're the worst"
Yaku Morisuke:
Practice ended thirty minutes ago almost, but Yaku was still in the changing room. You were supposed to go on a date, so you came by when practice ended to walk into town with Yaku. But he wasn't done changing, so he asked you to stay just a bit longer with him. One thing lead to another and you were pushed against one of the many lockers, with his knee between your thighs while he kissed your neck. You tilted your head to the side, letting him kiss down your neck. "Yaku..." You moaned, your entire body squirming when he started nibbling on a more sensitive part of your neck. You felt your knees buckle underneath you, but he was quick to steady you with two strong hands on each side of your hips. "I got you" He whispered. Then he lifted his head, going back to kissing you. You parted your lips for him, letting him take control. The kiss was needy and hungry, like he couldn't get enough of you. Because he honestly couldn't. His hands wandered from your hips to your thighs, lifting one just a bit so he could hear you moan against him at the friction. He pulled away, only a string of saliva connecting the two of you. For a moment he just took the sight of you in. You were breathing heavily, your lips were swollen from his kisses and he couldn't help himself. He leaned in again, barely giving either of you time to propely breathe. You felt his teeth gently bite down on your lower lip and you both whimpered in perfect sync.
So perfect you didn't hear the door opening.
"YAKU-SAN!?" You both stopped instantly. The voice was so familiarly loud, you could imagine his expression without even having to look at him. Never before have you wanted to sink into the floor so badly. And Yaku hadn't felt so pissed in a while. "LEV! GET OUT!"
thinking about kageyama and forehead kisses. him reaching down bc he's a tad too tall.
you like it when he does this.
he likes how you look when you anticipate his kiss, too.
you twirl the toe of your foot on the floor and squeeze his arm when he does, your faces grinning and blushing like you're back in high school, except now you're both in your late 20s, full of hope for the future.
it's the sweet, mundane things like these that keep your sanity intact, the hustle and bustle of life getting in the way of your dreams. you think a lot of circumstances hinder your growth, and you sometimes curse at the wind at how everything's unfair.
that one train you missed, the job offer that passed, your friend who you wished was still in your life.
but one thing you're certain right now is the man beside you.
you see, kageyama always believes in you. it's him who acts as your anchor in times like these where you doubt yourself. he reminds you that you're still young, that there's so much more to life than dwelling on uncertainties. and while you agree, there's still thoughts at the back of your mind.
it'll pass.
and before you know it, you're right in the middle of where you want to be.
so you stay content at the essence of kageyama's forehead kisses that signify reminders directly to your head.
its the third time that suna stayed over your place that he noticed a little habit of yours.
he runs his hand down your back until he can feel the hem of your panties. he presses a kiss against your jaw before asking, "do you match your underwear with all your outfits?"
you open your eyes to look at him before closing it again and snuggling your face against your chest, "mhm i do."
he traces the lace across the hem, "its really cute" he teasingly pinches the skin at your waist, "i can make it a guessing game."
"thats weird" your voice comes out muffled, "you're such a perv."
"this is totally innocent babe," he chuckles before lifting your leg to lay it on his.
"that's just an excuse to see my undies everyday."
suna clicks his tongue playfully, "ah you got me."
the next day he comes up to you and lazily wraps his arms around your waist. he rests his chin against your shoulder looking down at what you're writing but not actually paying attention to what's in front of him.
after a couple of seconds he stands up straight, "is it navy blue or just blue?"
you tilt your head, "huh?"
"your panties babe," he pulls away from you, "but either way i think its blue"
you look at him exasperatedly, "its pink, too match my top."
he gasps softly and reaches for your hips, "no way let me check."
you roll your eyes but let him check anyway, "pervert."
"kei." no response. you know tsukishima has to get up early for work, but the window across from your bed is open, allowing the night breeze to creep in and sting your face. you could get up yourself, but that's what husbands are for, right?
you twist around, trying to wiggle out of your husband's grasp so you can take a better look at his sleeping face. he has an arm wrapped firmly around your waist, the other supporting your neck to, in his words, 'protect his ears from your constant complaints about your sore neck in the morning'.
"honey?" you poke his cheek, smiling to yourself when he grunts in response. tsukishima has always been a light sleeper. you lay in silence for a few seconds before he finally lets out a sigh, opening his eyes to look at you.
"what do you want?"
you muster up your biggest doe eyes, knowing that he hates getting out of bed just as much as you do. "close the window for me?"
"no. you do it."
you sigh dramatically, gesturing at his arms wrapped firmly around you. "i would love to, but someone is holding me hostage, so i think you're going to have to do it."
tsukishima rolls his eyes, untangling his arms from your body. "problem solved." he holds back a smile when you frown and pull the blankets away from him, turning your back towards him. you're so cute. tsukishima would do anything you ask of him without hesitation, but he can't help but tease you a bit first. he'll never get tired of your reactions, and he loves that he can be a little snarky with you.
you sigh again, this time louder and more pointed, pretending to shiver just to show your husband how cold you really are, and how cruel he is for not helping. "if only someone could hold me right now...", you trailed off.
"ok, do you want me to help you or not?" he finally gives in, getting up to reach for his glasses. you win, as usual. you turn back to face him again with a smile as bright as sunshine, and despite all of the years you've been together, his heart still stops for a second. wow. okay, maybe he is obsessed with you, but he can't help it. you've clearly worked your magic on him, considering the fact that he's getting out of the bed for you when he has to be awake in a few hours. he goes to close the windows with a firm click, walking back to his side of bed.
"kei...since you're already up...", he looks back to see your guilty smile, an empty mug in your hands. "please? last thing, i swear." he give you a look that reads, "you're lucky i love you." (you know you're the luckiest person in the world.)
he takes your mug and you hear his quiet footsteps making their way to the kitchen. he comes back, handing you a mug full of warm water. once you take a sip, he takes the mug from you again, placing it on your nightstand.
"i poisoned that," he quips, pressing a gentle kiss to your forehead before finally lying down and snaking his arms around your waist, pulling you in closer to him. the only reason he hates getting out of bed is that he has to let go of you, but he doesn't need to say that. he's sure you already know.
It usually only lasts a few minutes before your cat is leaping or walking away, even when Kageyama’s eyes are still on him. He had expressed to you that he always had an inkling cats did not like him very much, to which you insisted that isn’t true, that your cat just isn’t used to him yet.
Your cat is, however, used to and fond of your boyfriend’s volleyball cat toy he had purchased in hopes of winning some brownie points.
“He’s kind of like you if you were a cat,” you teased one time as you guys watched him play with it, also referring to your cat’s similar blue eyes and dark fur.
That just made Kageyama observe your cat more. Needless to say, the staring contests continue — occurrences of which you ignored, until now.
Today, it’s taking longer than usual and you sense that neither of your boys refuse to break eye contact, stormy gazes staying strong. And as amused as you are, you selfishly want some attention yourself.
“Tobio, let it go—“
You barely finish your sentence before you are both taken by surprise as your cat leaps off the coffee table, right into Kageyama’s lap, and proceeds to curl into a comfortable resting position.
You almost coo at the image, especially when Kageyama looks up at you with guileless awe, hand petting your purring void, and quietly exclaims, “He likes me.”
You smile, humming in agreement as you watch your home grow livelier. “Told ya so.”
To be loved is to be seen (little things that he does for you) ♡
Tsukishima would leave notes in your textbook, little things that could help you be more motivated when studying, albeit in his own way. Leave notes in places where you may stumble, give easy-to-understand explanations and point out important details. If you tell him about it, he’ll deny it but he's the only one you frequently study with.
Sugawara remembers details even if you forgot. You vaguely bring up the topic about matching items together, and one day he passes you a keychain matching the one on his bag. It doesn't have to be gifts but also silly videos or stories that you tell him. You think he forgot, but he brings up that one embarrassing story you told him, laughing when you get flustered about it.
Iwaizumi carries items that you may need throughout the day. If you have long hair, he has hair ties in his wallet just in case you lose your hair tie. You accidentally get your glasses dirty? Suddenly he has tissues and a piece of cloth in his pocket that you can use to wipe your glasses.
Kageyama’s hand unknowingly takes yours when he’s nervous. Before getting exam results, or volleyball matches, he unconsciously looks for you to calm his nerves. Point it out to him, and he immediately gets flustered and lets go of your hand, as if it scalded his.
