ABSOLUTE RODAN: King of the Monsters

I’m changing some facts in this AU:

- I’m giving Rodan the crown for a change. He’s always fought for it and he used to be Godzilla’s equal in the Showa Era, so I’ve inverted their dynamic in the Monsterverse.

- Mothra isn’t tyrannical. That’s out-of-character for her, so Battra will take on a Starscream-esque role.

- Godzilla isn’t humanity’s fault or any particular kaiju’s fault. He’s both of their faults—an fluke nobody wants to take responsibility for. He’s their entire conflict-of-interest given a face and a name.

I might as well give a little extra spiel on this guy.

So, the whole point of the Absolute universe, more than just making dark and gritty versions of the characters, is also to subvert the characters and change how they operate in their own mythology.

This is all to say Mothra is the reason getting nuked didn’t just kill Godzilla. She essentially created him as a disfigured guard dog for the natural world—her own blind follower. His story is essentially a nuclear bomb becoming aware of what it is and responding to that knowledge. I have other ideas, but I’m not certain about anything and I’m open to any other interpretations of this fanzilla.
