But that’s the sea. Don’t you see? I am her, and she is me. The ships will rock, and quake, and glide With trembled hands and covered eyes Because the sea, you never know Where she stays or when she goes The break of day, or tides of night Raining down or shining bright The sea will always take her time She won’t be pushed around by slime Whether on two feet anchored to land Or testing the restraints of her plans. She really does try to understand . What to make of the man. Men will come from far and wide They only see her for her shine, Not the pain she tries to hide Not the storms she keeps inside Seeing calm seas, men tempt their fate Seeking her beauty, if only for a day They don’t see her for what she is Seeking their pleasure without remiss They can’t compute the beauty with rage She can’t be possible of such dismay They only see the light she glows But not her tattered heavy soul Where she screams inside and rips apart Every living fiber of her heart She howls and yells just trying to be free Of her monsters lurking in the deep Buried so deep they think it’s treasure They dig and push seeking their pleasure No regard of her measures She’s obviously braved worse weathers She yells and screams and tells them NO Unfazed by her pain, they think she says go She settles then, numb to them too Just be like the rest, don’t be you. She’s meant to be vast and pure and blue Calm and docile just like you She hides her sorrow come morning light But every night, the waves ignite The tides will change, just like her mind Once she’s pushed beyond her kind Her box she keeps buried down deep Rocks the foundation, quaking the beams She battles her mind to maintain her control She knows that by dawn that heads will roll She billows and blows no care for destruction They called her demure and cute as a button She thrashes and crashes reigning supreme They made me this, THEY MADE ME MEAN! All her woes, her pain and sorrow She throws at their feet, no care for tomorrow With rage in her eyes, she’s blinded by pain She just wants it out, she wants to be sane. She offers kind, subservient waters But they always want more for sons and daughters She gives and gives until nothing is left Except that deep dark hole still at her depth The self constructed prison at the bottom of the ocean She shackles her demons and raging emotions The skies start to clear as she opens her eyes The people never left her, after all this time Her people still come no matter the price Even misguided they still want her light She pushes away time after time But they barter for love, no matter their life They would give their life for a monster like me? For even a small glimpse of the sea? No matter the pain and chaos I cause They come for the ride and stay for my fall. The inevitable destruction that follows my heart It rips them away then rips them apart But still they stand, steadfast on the sand Waiting for the day, I embrace all I am The sea is wild, crazy, and free With depths too deep for even me. But if you do glimpse the dark depths of my sea Just promise you’ll try to love every part of me, Wade through the sand, just get to the water Get through it all and please don’t falter Can you love the raging sea? Twisted tales and a sailor's dream Maybe, Just Maybe, you can love me. How is it, you still don’t see? She is I and I am she.
