2014 Will Be Great!
And this blog will prove it! Starting Jan.1, I will be posting everything positive that happens in my life; not only that, but I also want to post everyone else’s great moments. Please follow and submit so that we may inspire others to have a GREAT year!
This is the post that started it all....
Sorry for all the cringe-y posts throughout the years. I’ll try to be better.
UPDATE
Guess who’s back after a 5 year hiatus?! I really want to continue with this blog again, so let start by giving an update about my life since I left.
I graduated with my Master’s degree and was told by the doctoral admissions committee that I should teach for at least a year before they would consider accepting me. So, I taught full time in high school and college (much longer than a year) and loved every minute of it. Great friends were made; student loans ($60k+) were PAID IN FULL. I bought a house with a yard and fence, grew vegetables in my garden, and realized I was settling down. That scared the HECK out of me because I did not feel I was growing academically. A person can only teach so many College Algebra classes. I was not practicing my instrument because nobody had one for me to practice (it’s a very stationary instrument) in the city in which I taught. My school had me working 10+ hours a day for little pay. It was time for a change.
I applied to doctoral programs at three major universities (including my alma mater) and was accepted to all three! Of course I wanted to return to my alma mater, but a professor once told me never to get my graduate degrees from the same university. A diverse C.V. is much stronger, and you get so much more out of a different group of professors. In-state tuition, proximity, and prestige were all good reasons to go back, but I also felt a better connection to another university.
My current school called me by the name that I go by, not my first name. No other school chose to do that. The professors at my current school reached out to me. That was not the case at the other two schools. There are professors at my current school who study the population that I’m interested in. They acted like they wanted me. In fact, I was offered a full tuition waiver, stipend, and health insurance at my current school. They asked me to teach a class in my first semester, and now I am being asked to be over all the people that teach that course.
I always say coming here was the best decision I could have made. My major professor is amazing. I have so many more friends here than I did at my old university. I’m able to teach and do research at levels that I never considered for a beginning doctoral student.
God is good, and He has a plan.

In 1998, schools bought pencils that said ‘TOO COOL TO DO DRUGS’ on them. It took a 4th grader to realize that sharpening them removed the beginning of the message, which made it even cooler to do drugs each time you used them. They were recalled, but now you can buy them for fun.

just in case you need to hear this today:

you are not a waste of space
you are loved
you are wanted
I believe in you
you can do it!!!!
That which is being asked of me makes no sense and has neither relevancy to this math problem nor any application in real life math.
