you're not anonymous, in most positions you live a normal life, have social media, etc. You just don't talk about what you do, you say "i work for a sensitive government org"
it's not special but you get money at least
the state doesn't care about you, they will literally leave you to die if your capture is compromising
if you do survive, you are forbidden to tell people about it
you cannot be diagnosed with any mental illness, even depression, or they will fire you for being a liability
and, last but not least, you will be called a country traitor and put to jail at the slightest inconvenience
