so i went to the doctor today, and she brought up the topic of Weight Loss Surgery. Now listen, I’ve been done this road and heard the spiel before; i’ve been fat my whole life, but this is the first time i’ve genuinely thought about it.
So, i went home, did some research, and the surgery i think would be the best fit (should i decide to go through with it) is the Sleeve Gastrectomy. (My bmi right now is at 50 (with my weight at 305) and the other options felt risky)
I have a few questions though, for anyone who has had it, if they’re willing to answer:
1) how long was the whole process? (Including pre-op, and recovery)
- i’m a student, so i need to be able to life 10 pounds (backpacks, am i right?) and go to school, and unfortunately summer and Christmas break are the only times I could potentially go through with it (surgery + recovery, i can do pre-op stuff when in school)
2) if you have/had binge-eating disorder/problems with binge eating, how are you doing with it now?
3) did your insurance help cover it (just a yes or no) (also i’m american if that helps)?
4) did you experience any complications?
5) my doctor recommended it for me, but did not refer me to a doctor. Did you receive a referral, or find a doctor/surgeon yourself?
6) do you see a nutritionist?
7) how long has it been since your surgery, and how do you feel now? 8) would you recommend it?
9) if you have PCOS, did it help and did it keep the weight off? (After lifestyle changes of course!)
If you could answer even just one of the questions i would reaaallyyy appreciate it!!
