Thank you so much for reading my work the past four years. I am so lucky to have been able to make this comic, and I have been so lucky to have you as my readers.
If you haven't read my comic, the entire thing is now available to read for free!
Every full moon, the rambunctious werewolf Steve is forced to time travel. To his dismay, circumstances require that vampire agent Adam keep
And if you have, Thank you.
I'll be around, I'm working on my next comic and everything is going great on it. Still lots to do, but wow it's awesome so far. It's gonna rock.
what are your thoughts on Time And Time Again ending next week?
Mostly, I think I feel relief. I've been working on this comic for years, and before it launched on originals I had already been working on it for years... I have other stuff I've wanted to work on, but it was just so much time and energy that I couldn't get anything else started. It's been a lot of holding myself back, a lot of burning myself out, and my brain still hasn't fully accepted that it IS over.
So I'm really ready to move on. I just hope the ending is satisfying, I'm happy with what I've done and I don't feel like I really had to sacrifice for it, I knew I was going to have 105 episodes like 50 episodes in.
I think there's a lot of things that people wish I answered in the story that I never intended to answer. I really prefer leaving much unsaid in my work, I try to be direct about the themes I'm including, but not as direct about conclusions of them... And even less direct about things that don't serve them at all.
So I suppose on one level I'm sorry that people hoped for more, but I very much stand by what I've put in there and I'm happy with it. And I am VERY ready to move on to my next thing.
It finally happened! I'm so excited about it, I hope you all love it, and I'm so ready to get back to drawing all sorts of things and working on my next project.
i'm curious about the future books order and arcs, are they gonna be like:
Book 5 - Circus Arc
Book 6 - Bellhound Arc
Book 7 - Medieval Arc
Book 8 - Train Arc
Book 9 - Final/Petrified Arc
Yup!
So there will end up being 9 books total. I could (legally) print 5 and 6 right now, but I've been a biiit behind on everything so I'm gonna wait a little while before I go through making those edits.
I'm not sure what I'll name the books yet, either, but yes I intend to keep each arc self contained and complete as a single unit!
I'll answer these together cause they're kind of similar but have things I want to talk about in both!
First, this is definitely the best place to reach me with anything! I'm not very active on any other socials, and also they do weird annoying compression stuff or hide messages and I hate them.
Second, it's been harrowing to say the least to see so many of my friends and peers driven into the ground out of love and passion for their work, and watching how much those things get smashed down. It's heartbreaking and I'll be glad to have experienced this part of my life but even gladder to be past it.
Third, yeah I decided on these designs for them probably halfway through season two! The werewolf body stuff was half about being trans, but also half setting up for this. They're happy and they're Themselves now, and that's wonderful. I'm so glad it can mean something to someone.
I'm also going to share a small bit about my next comic (lying (it's big (I'm going to make a read more for this (I'll also make more posts later (you're going to see so much about it in like 2 months once T&TA is done)))))
So my next comic has changed a lot over the last decade, but the major premise has never once budged. Because it's perfect. It's also all stuff that'll be introduced in the description and the first three episodes, so it's not spoilers to share any of that which rocks for me.
Luciel is the sweetest mermaid in the world, how could he not save the man he finds injured and drowning at the bottom of the sea? The only issue, he discovers, is this was perhaps the wrong person to save.
He saved the demon Zagan. Arguably the most powerful demon on earth, and well in the running for the world's biggest asshole. Landed on Luciel's doorstep after a failed assassination attempt, Zagan has one thing on his mind: he is hellbent on finding whoever thought they could murder him and get away with it.
This rescue supernaturally trapped the two together, and Zagan can no longer travel to the surface alone. If Zagan is going to bring about retribution, he's going to have to drag Luciel along with him - whether either of them likes it or not.
So it's a murder mystery and a romance and it's going to be so good it's actually driving me crazy I can't get over it. I get so excited just thinking about it I need to share it so bad it's unreal
First of all, Time and Time Again is actually the best comic I’ve read and I love it so so much so thank you for that. Second, is the comic ending at ep 105 a result of Webtoon’s restrictions or was it just where the story naturally ended? And lastly: will there be any short side comics after T&TA ends? I love these characters so much and want to see more of them. No pressure ofc, i’m just wondering. Thank you!
Thank you so much!
And yes, it's ending there because that's exactly as many episodes as Webtoon gave me and I'm using every one. They told me pretty early on (around when season 1 ended) that it was all I was going to get, so luckily I've been able to plan and fit everything I wanted into that space.
Obviously it's the kind of story that could continue indefinitely and it'd be really simple for anyone to write them into a new adventure, you can put whatever characters or monsters you want in there! I would LOVE to get to see this, but I don't want to make any promises for continuing it myself... I'm satisfied with where it's ending. I love the story and I'm truly proud of what I've made, but it's over; I don't have more themes to develop or plots to explore with them.
I don't want to outright say "no, I'm never making more" but I've wanted to start my next comic for over ten years now... I'm so ready to make it. Plus, I think my contract may restrict me continuing the comic independently for a little while...
The most I could ask for, really, is for people to come with me to my next story, and that if in a few years I want to visit with Adam and Steve again, people will be happy to see them.
I know I’m a week late but THE REAL STORY BEGIN??? 13 EPISODES BEFORE THE STORY ENDS?? Deo how could you do this to usssss?? 😭
I feel bad that some people didn't realize what I meant so they really think that means we're gonna get like 10 more arcs. But what I really mean is "and now for the rest of their lives!" kind of thing
It's been a long ten years and I finally get to talk publicly about what happened behind closed doors.
Please take the time to read this letter linked above and please avoid working with these people. You are more valuable than an opportunity for people like them to use you as cash cow for your work.
Three years ago, I was approached by many artists at Hiveworks asking if their mistreatment was normal. That their feelings of horrible self worth within the company was really just a 'them' problem.
Turns out, it was unfortunately normal in that we ALL felt that way.
Stolen funds, reworked projects without permission, favouritism, opportunity sabotage- These were the common occruances over at Hive. Artists felt used, ignored, and walked all over to pay Hives bills and ego. People didn't know what to do.
I helped co-found the guild in response to so many artists feeling this way, and we slowly gathered together to make a better Hive. Yeah, that's right- we thought we could help change and save the company if we all colaborated, hurt set aside and transparency deeply needed.
Unfortunately, that wasn't in the cards. We spent 3 years going back and forth with staff to understand the debt, the mistreatment, the empty promises only to realise that the staff who was left to deal with the mess (because the CEO and COO went hands off or left) couldn't fix what was destroyed.
Hiveworks was supposed to be a beacon for webcomickers. It was supposed to be an indie opportunity to flourish in the small ways we can. But it became yet another example of a greedy publisher who saw an opportunity to take and take and take.
It was also a vanity project for Isa and Xel too. They wanted the prestige of working in 'publishing' but didn't care a lick about the artists who brought readers in. If you were someone she thought was an artistic threat, Isa would go out of her way to humble you and put you in your place.
That happened Many MANY times to me and my fellow creators. Not only was Hive using our work, it also would remind us how worthless we were in the same breath. Everything felt like some sort of competition, and Isa and Xel made sure artists didn't talk to ecahother about it too. So many instances of the two of them going around gossiping in public about 'the real story' when it came to their mismanagment and inability to handle their job. They would use someone else as a scape goat and pretend they did all they could. It was highschool stuff.
As for my particular case, I was the bane of their existance apparently. I was rumoured to be out for Isas job because artists would go to me for support and she hated that. I was apparently trying to ruin things because I saw those cracks.
Squeaky wheel and all that. I took the risks I did, i didn't care about being 'everyone's friend' or missed out on 'the connections' because I didn't want to play that game. Artists were feeling used, stolen from, and neglected. I spoke up, and many others started to feel safe to do so too.
The more we shared stories (and man, there are HORROR stories) the more we realised that the inner workings of Hive were more tangled than we thought. Our years of organising lead us to approach the cartoonist co-op for extra help. We tried our best to do what we could for Hive to survive.
After we were hit with the 'actually we're in a quarter of a million in debt' and they wanted us to help financially (while owing artists and staff money) it was the curtain call for Hive as a company.
Isa left the sinking ship previously to avoid responsibility, and Xel ghosted the rest of us.
All of this is to say that these kinds of people who promise the world with your work and take advantage are such a common and frustrating thing in not only comics, but all creative avenues.
And speaking up and against them is the only way to make these cycles stop.
Please support the artists who were affected by this. Please spread the word and speak up against people who use artists like this. Hiveworks is an example in a sea of greedy people who want our work to inflate their ego.
Don't let them forget we can bite back, and without us, THEY are nothing.
Just outta curiosity, how many episodes do you approximately think are left for Time & Time again? I heard S3 will be the last one I think? So ye, lmk if I’m wrong there ha ha
It will end on episode 105! That was all i could get out of them and ive known that for years now, so ive written it to resolve cleanly by that point.
