Late Night Pro Tips™

We ARE meeting in person for class in the morning. There *might be treats for you. 

Having trouble saving your stamp series? In Illustrator: File > Save for Web > PNG-24 > Deselect Transparency > Adjusting Height or Width (which ever is largest in your format) to 1000px > Save!

Please follow submission guidelines here, this will affect your grade if overlooked.

P3: DUE / LAST CLASS!

It’s the LAST class! Your stamp series is due (digital submission). Here are things to note!

Crop your series accordingly. Your format should be dictated by your project. What is the best solution for you? (please look at previous student examples for inspiration). Please do no send me a 8.5x11 document with tiny stamps. 

Save for web PNG (either from photoshop or export in illustrator)

72 dpi

1000 px max size in either direction  (it’s ok if it’s less than this!)

rationale and process images in a multipage PDF (72 dpi)

naming convention: FirstnameLastname_P3_stampseries.png, FirstnameLastname_P3_process.pdf

DUE: Email one zipped folder containing your stamp series (png) and rationale/process images (multipage pdf) to [email protected] before 9 AM on Wednesday 03.12.14

Thanks for working hard! You’re almost finished with this class! If you are resubmitting a project or doing an extra credit please drop it off in the art office by noon on Thursday, March 20, 2014.

Rami Niemi

Rami has worked as an illustrator since graduating from the University of Art and Design Helsinki in 2002, creating delicious vector-based drawings with just the right dash of irony and naughtiness.

Jacob Weinstein is the illustrator and a co-author of FreeDarko’s two books, The Macrophenomal Pro Basketball Almanac and The Undisputed Guide to Pro Basketball History.

Lots of great illustration work for NYTimes, ESPN,  The New Yorker, McSweeney's, and more.

MONDAY FEBRUARY 24 Due: Project 2! In class: Introduction to the Project 3. More illustration! Let’s simplify. For America.

WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 26 Due: Series selection & research: mood board, project brief statement, & 15 rough thumbnails. In class: Small group discussion and work day (in class).

MONDAY MARCH 3 Due: Execute ideas! Bring quick prints of your series. Rough execution of all 5 stamps. In class: Sticky Note™ critique.

WEDNESDAY MARCH 5 Due: More progress! Refine and further develope ideas based on feedback. 3/5 stamps finalized and rough direction on title stamp. In class: Small group discussion and work day.

MONDAY MARCH 10 Final Crit! Last chance to get feedback before the project is due. You should be 98% finished with this series! 5/5 executed & title stamp figured out. Use the upcoming weekend for edits, refining, and tweaking to a finish a aconceptually strong—well executed series.

WEDNESDAY MARCH 12 Project #3 ALL DUE. Process books. Rationale paper. Nice print of your series that fits into your Itoya binder, along with your process!
