247chaewon:
“Aw this looks bad. Are you really okay?” She asked him gently, pouting a bit, feeling bad for him. Chaewon handed him a cold can of soda she bought on her way when she passed by a vending machine. “Press it against the swollen parts or it will be worse later.” (...)
That was the first time he felt his heart swell, or maybe it was just because of the pain. Either way, it made him happy, too happy that he could barely put up a response. The silence ran for about 30 seconds before he realizes that the socially acceptable thing he was meant to do was to respond.
“oh- ah, thank you..for this..and..for earlier,” he says, feeling the warmth spreading to his cheeks before taking the soda can from her.
Indeed, she wasn’t like the rest of the students. She was gentle and caring and maybe the reason why he was so attracted to her was because of that (and probably because his hormones were at its peak). The thought of confessing completely dissolved itself and now he just stood there trying to think of what he could say.
“if it’s alright with you..let me treat you to some food--” his eyes widen the moment the words came out of his mouth. if you peeped into his brains at that very second, you’d probably see little tsunami’s drowning him from inside. ‘of course she’d never agree to hang out with you.’ he scold himself quietly. ‘she probably has like 20 chefs at home and you want her to eat cheap cup noodles at a convenience store-’ his self-reflection had been cut short by a chirpy voice.
“sure, just tell me whenever” she says before continuing her sentence, but at this point, all jae heard was her agreeing to him. he couldn’t believe it, he actually asked her out (well, not really but to him it was good enough). his happiness had gotten interrupted by the bell, and before he knew it, the tall girl was already walking towards her class.
he leans against the lockers and smiles to himself. this was only the beginning of his first love.
