Eugene Thompson, 65, has been sent to jail after admitting to assaulting a 37-year-old woman in his care at the Elves Special Needs Society.
Warning: This story contains graphic descriptions of sexual assault.
EDMONTON—A man was sentenced to nine months in jail Wednesday after sexually assaulting a severely disabled woman while he was working as a team lead at the Elves Special Needs Society in Edmonton.
Justice Peter Michalyshyn said that Eugene Thompson, 65, admitted to rubbing his penis on the inner thigh of a 37-year-old non-verbal woman while she lay on a table with her pants and underwear pulled down on May 5, 2016.
Michalyshyn said Thompson was “caught red handed” by one of his colleagues.
Court heard Thompson told one of his colleagues, “I touched her, my penis was out, do what you have to do.”

Casual reminder that the statistics on sexual violence against disabled people are fucking horrifying.
If ya click that link there, you’ll see that what happened here is horrifying, but not uncommon.
40% of disabled women experience it, and 90% of women with developmental disabilities in Canada experience sexual violence. 25% of abusers are caregivers or service providers.
This is horrible what happened. But it is made even worse by the fact that it is systemic.
When you start giving them the same energy they’ve been giving you and now they mad
